Feb 11, 2012The recording quality seems low on my N8, even though it is set to HD. There are vague lines distorting the video. I have compared newly recorded videos with older ones and there is a clear difference. However I haven't recorded a video for a few weeks so I'm not entirely sure if it's a faulty camera or if the newly updated Belle software is causing this.

Feb 18, 2012I played around with the HDMI output, after installing the new version of Nokia Big Screen. The video quality was miserable (I have a 720p demo video from Philips for testing purpose). I thought it was from Big Screen application, so I uninstalled it, but there was no change.
In short the screen is way too overscan (part of menu goes out of screen), the TV output format switch in Accessories has no effect (was this active only for analog output ? can't remember and I don't have an analog cable at hand to check), but the worst thing is the video quality is horrible for a HD image, resolution seems to be low, outlines are exaggerated and the contrast is too high, like the tonal range is missing.
I tried on two different brands LCD TV displays and on one of them on both native HDMI and DVI-compatible input HDMI. At the same time connecting my PC to the DVI-compatible input and playing the same video shows a perfect image.
I barely recall that the image was very good before, but I have my N8 only ~1,5 months old so perhaps I have not accumulated much experience on this. Still, even without background, I qualify the actual image quality as "miserable". What HD? Looks worse than SD.

Feb 12, 2012The image quality has dropped significantly on my n8 after the belle update. The auto focus is not as precise as it was with anna. I am surprised no one has reported this matter. On a discussion on beta labs D.Dinning said that there's no need to install the previously released camera update for n8 after updating to belle.

Feb 21, 2012I updated my Nokia N8 to Belle this week, at first I hated it but i am growing to like it, until today.
When I connect my phone to my laptop with the USB cable I cannot see the pictures in Windows Explorer, the folder where they should be is just blank, this is very fustrating as it means I cannot cut and paste photos off my phone, i can only copy them via the import function.
I have had my N8 for a long time now and never had this problem. Also, it keeps saving the images as 001, 002, 003 etc, even though I select in options to save as date.
I do not want to have to do a hard reset and loose everything and have to install it all again which i had to do when i updated to Belle.

Jun 26, 2010Only recently got the phone and I've noticed that, usually at around 11.50pm, there is an outwards WAP connection for about 3.30 mins. This would be fine if I had free mobile internet on my contract but I don't. My network (Vodafone) charges 50p a day (counted from 12am to 12pm) for unlimited internet so I can see this getting unnecessarily costly.

Jan 2, 2010My E71 keeps connecting to the internet via mobile 02 everynight automatically (strangely always around 2 mins past midnight). Its cost me sixty pounds over the last 2 months. I've uninstalled most of my downloads incase one of them was automatically connecting for updates but this has made no difference. The other night I switched the phone off at midnight but it still connected when I turned it back on. I've rung 02 and they've said it must be to do with a setting on the phone.

Sep 13, 2014i recently got the cyan update for my NL lumia 1520 (yes we have it!)and just since a few days i have been experiencing problems with the stock camera.there is this wonderful feature called <<tap to take photo>> (its been around since wp7)normally you tap the screen, it places a nice square around the place you tapped, it focusses on that spot and then takes a photo.now it just skips the focus and square part and just takes the picture.
this still isnt that bad, cuz of the lumia camera (lumia right, at least the nokia one with recropping and stuff) but whenever i want to take a shot from whatsapp it opens up the stock camera app and it takes bad pictures all over again!its horrible! i didnt spend over 500$ to have a device that cant take proper pictures!and i know its not the cyan update in general because my brother has the 925 and now problems.

Apr 1, 2010I've been using the Satio for the last months and I've been happy with it. It has an overall good build quality, nice UI and and impressive camera, even though the lack of sharpness and those boring smooth edges. However, I was flirting for some time the Nokia E72 and I decided to give it a try. I enjoy its build quality, size and qwerty. The only drawback in the swap would be the camera, or so I thought (the xenon flash is, obviously).
Before I sell the Satio, I had to do a photo comparison! And well, this comparison seems to be pointless and I'm sure everyone thinks that the Satio will perform much better. So did I until I came home, gathered the pics and started comparing them. Before the comparison please note that:
- The first is from Satio
- Full auto in all photos
- Satio photos: 12MP
- E72 photos: 5MP
- Flash: Off
- Image stablizer: Off
- All photos were taken with my hands as still as I could. Different shutter speeds in the same light conditions may cause blurriness and I'll also consider that since it may be important for the photo quality.
- Nokia E72 does not have lens protector and I just cleaned its' lenses a couple times during this. Its photos may suffer the consequences of some dust or grease in the optics.
- Satio is updated to the latest generic firmware
- E72 was not updated yet and is branded to T-Mobile.
What do you think? Is there a 7mp size difference here? Curiously, in some cases, the E72 photos became with a bigger size than the Satio's. You can check all the comparison photos I took here. In these photos, the "s" means that they are from Satio and the "e" that they are from the E72. In the underscored photos "e0001_1" I've increased the sharpness level to "hard".

After I connected it to a wi-fi it did multiple updates and now the windows version is 8.10.14226.359.An update in the Store was stuck and in another thread the restore factory defaults option was proposed, and so I did a factory reset after all the OS updates had taken place.After that I also updated all applications in the Store.The problem is, that only one Camera application is installed on the phone and I cannot find the NOKIA camera app which allows the 38 MP raw images to be captured. I searched the Store for the NOKIA camera app, but nothing came up.The question is how can I shoot 38 MPixel raw images in windows version 8.10.14226.359.

Feb 1, 2010As the owner of an E72 for the past couple of weeks, I want to record how delighted I am with the quality of the product. I read a lot of the comments on this site before deciding that, despite the negativity from a small number of users, Nokia had a winner on their hands, despite a few possible minor initial technical glitches.
All I can say is from my initial experience, what a fabulous machine in terms of build quality and performance. No problems - everything works as it is supposed too. Call quality is excellent. The email service is lightning fast. Messages reach my phone before they land on my MAC. Did you doubting Thomas's not have faith in Nokia resolving an apparent few minor technical glitches in a superb new product ?
If you want to experience a poor performance try a Blackberry (and enjoy premium email costs in the process), or an IPhone (and pay premium costs for the Applications included in the E72 like Office document/Scanner/PDF/ZIP etc). Recognize a quality product and have faith in Nokia to resolve any outstanding issues.
Nokia :: 5800 Camera Quality
Mar 30, 2010I purchased nokia 5800 less than 3 months ago and from last 2 months camera is broken on the phone causing a grainy and shady image. I compared it with my other phone with 1 mp camera and its worst. I sent the phone to repairs to nokia but they updated the software without checking it.
