Nokia Nseries :: HDMI Output Quality Has Dropped Too With Belle?
Feb 18, 2012
I played around with the HDMI output, after installing the new version of Nokia Big Screen. The video quality was miserable (I have a 720p demo video from Philips for testing purpose). I thought it was from Big Screen application, so I uninstalled it, but there was no change.
In short the screen is way too overscan (part of menu goes out of screen), the TV output format switch in Accessories has no effect (was this active only for analog output ? can't remember and I don't have an analog cable at hand to check), but the worst thing is the video quality is horrible for a HD image, resolution seems to be low, outlines are exaggerated and the contrast is too high, like the tonal range is missing.
I tried on two different brands LCD TV displays and on one of them on both native HDMI and DVI-compatible input HDMI. At the same time connecting my PC to the DVI-compatible input and playing the same video shows a perfect image.
I barely recall that the image was very good before, but I have my N8 only ~1,5 months old so perhaps I have not accumulated much experience on this. Still, even without background, I qualify the actual image quality as "miserable". What HD? Looks worse than SD.
The image quality has dropped significantly on my n8 after the belle update. The auto focus is not as precise as it was with anna. I am surprised no one has reported this matter. On a discussion on beta labs D.Dinning said that there's no need to install the previously released camera update for n8 after updating to belle.
I got the HDMI cable with the N8, I tried to connect my N8 to the Sony Bravia TV with this cable. But it is not fit into the HDMI port of the TV.Is there any other connectivity cable require to connect phone and TV through HDMI cable?
How do I get (with the adapter) HDMI output from my iPhone 4S? I've connected everything up to my HD display, and it's like nothing is hooked up at all.
I have a HDMI display device which does not support HDCP. It is a HDMI video recorder (BlackMagic), so it makes sense that it does not support HDCP encrypted info. It works fine with all the other LG and Samsung Android devices with HDMI output, but now I connect Xperia Neo V to it and it tells "screen is turned of or does not support HDCP". I purchased the device specifically to be able to record screen casts of the mobile apps I have developed. can I disable HDCP signal encryption? I've connected the Neo V with TV and I can see that the image quality is quite poor there (definetely worse than 720p as it should be), so I see no real point in HDCP protection. I did not see any specification or reference in manuals that the device is compatible with HDCP HDMI only.
Anyone think we will see a dock adapter to connect an HDMI or Component to the iPhone4? I was almost 100% set on getting one of the new Androids with HDMI out, but im pretty sure someone is going to make this connector.
i am using an iphone 4 and i recently purchased the digital av adapter so i am trying to see what outputs video and what does not. (netflix, Internet, photos, rage hd all work fine)
my question is in regards to infinity blade ii. on the app purchase information it states;
"the latest in ios features powered by unreal technology:
the definitive visual experience in mobile gaming, complete with all-new icloud support and hdmi output."
i plug in the adapter and start infinity blade ii and nothing is outputted to the tv. there is also no option to enable it under the settings menu in the app itself. how do you get it to work? is it false advertising? is it an option only available to the iphone 4s and ipad 2? is it only available through airplay? will the feature be included in a future update?
When I connect my Xoom to any port on my Samsung LCD, it syncs at 1280 x 720 only. There are no settings for the HDMI ports on the TV, they are all auto sensing. I am using a 9` HDMI cable. The picture looks fine, although I'm sure it could look better.
Have an Atrix 4G by At&T. I plug my HDMI cable into the TV (in an attempt to show video, pics, anything) and I get a Motorola logo flashing around only. The Entertainment Center shows up on the phone. If I press anything on the Entertainment Center it disappears, my TV goes blank for a few seconds, then the Motorola logo comes back. I can get the Entertainment Center back thru the pull down, but any selection, it starts all over again.
I am interested in using the miniHDMI to HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI adapter to drive a standard computer monitor with the Xoom.
I have the pieces, and have verified I can do straight HDMI to a monitor that supports it. When I try to run the signal to DVI on a different monitor, I get nothing.
I'm having problems playing my .mp4 files on my TV using the HDMI output option. The mirroring keeps blacking out and coming back in. It's almost not woth watching a movie because of it. Why this would be happening? Is it an issue with the OS? i need this to work or I will be buying an iPad2.........which I don't want to do!!
I just got my Atrix 2 yesterday in hopes of it replacing my iPod touch as a music and phone device.I loaded up my stuff and went to my car to test it out (obviously through the headphone jack) and I was dramatically disappointed. I went straight to Amazon to look at the price of the latest iPod model! Sounds like a muffled tape deck. There are just plain out frequencies that are muffled or missing on the Atrix 2. Does not take a good ear to hear it either. I wish I could sit down with every person who looks at this or a Motorola engineer to show them.
Anna was fine you said it is an upgraded one but it is worst. . Why you people release these firmware before checkin it. . No support to many a applications which are very popular. . No tv out put.
I got Nokia 500, and for some reason the audio output(Jack 3,5mm) doesn't work Any things i plugged in doesn't give results.I can hear the voice when i unplug headphones, like it should be.
i've had my iphone 4s for about half a year now and the sound coming out of the built-in speaker has been working fine until today. i didn't do anything out of the ordinary. i just opened up a video from Internet and noticed the sound was considerably less clear than usual. when i use earphones, the sound is crystal clear but when it comes out of the speaker, it's very scratchy and fuzzy. earlier today it was working fine. rebooting my iphone didn't help. i don't know if it's a firmware problem as i updated to 5.1.1 as soon as it was availible.
using n8 with hdmi out (have big screen app installed) to use bbc iplayer (basically a web-based real video app, similar to Internet, but allows you to "catch-up" with previously aired bbc tv programmes in the uk).
i've started using my n8 upstairs, on my bedroom tv - so currently have no lan connections, and my n8 is the only way to watch programmes on iplayer around the house (can use my wii console for this purpose in the lounge).connectivity all seems to work ok, and manage to pair a spare wii controller to the phone to control it (big screen app functionality?).
the one thing i'm curious / concerned about is what's on my phone screen whilst watching iplayer on my tv over hdmi. normally you use the break-out / fullscreen option when watching iplayer on tv, so on my phone's screen, all the while i'm watching something, there's a web page in landscape, with a black box (about 1/3 of the screen size) of the video that's playing on the tv.
1. will this cause any damage, "burn-in" or overuse of my phone's screen to watch programmes on my tv for a couple of hours? have to say i'm not that up-to-date with usage best practices or things to avoid with things like amoled screens, just vaguely remember some concerns with plasma or lcd tv displays.
2. is there any way to blank my phone's screen whilst watching this app (bbc iplayer) on my tv? if i use the lock-key, the app stops / pauses.
I got my phone for a while now, recieve just bought a HDMI cable. So I decide to test out the N8 HDMI function, but when I connect my N8 to the TV there is no respond at all. The TV has been turned to the HDMI channel. There are no respond both in the phone and the TV plz help
I am having trouble displaying SkySports video on my TV in widescreen/16:9. I am using the HDMI connection to my LCD HD TV. It displays everything full screen but when playing video from the web it displays in 4:3. I have managed to get it to display in 16:9 but I have not got a clue how I did it.
The recording quality seems low on my N8, even though it is set to HD. There are vague lines distorting the video. I have compared newly recorded videos with older ones and there is a clear difference. However I haven't recorded a video for a few weeks so I'm not entirely sure if it's a faulty camera or if the newly updated Belle software is causing this.
Since updating to Belle, I am no longer able to use the dab radio app, which renders my £40 headset obsolete. Hopefully this app will be available again soon??
I want to know if Emails can now be saved in mass memory on N8 with Nokia Belle. Using the limited C: drive space is not an option as it gets full too fast.
I see TomTom has disappeared from the Nokia store...
The Nokia Maps app does pretty good nav but whereas e.g. TT will accept a postcode like CT16 2AB, Nokia Maps (or Drive as it is called; the Drive app shares the same database with the Maps app) accepts only CT162.
Today I tried to drive from Brighton (UK) to Biggin Hill Airport but Drive could not find Biggin Hill, which is weird. So I used an old Pocket/PC PDA with TT6 to get there. The Nokia apps did not show any roads/streets for a large area around the destination and on the way back it was about half an hour before I reached a map showing roads/streets. I deleted and reloaded the UK map (400MB) from Nokia and that fixed that bizzare issue, but having two ways to do the job is obviously desirable. And TT is a better app with a better database.
