Nokia Nseries :: How To Find A Caller's Contacts Information
Nov 7, 2011
Every so often on my N8, I get a call from "someone". All I see is the phone number, with no indication of who it's from. Then I find out it's from someone who should have already been listed in my contacts.
Is there any way to search through contacts by phone number? At least that way I'd know who the call was from, before calling back.
Also, is there anything to do (or not to do) that will minimize this problem? I have multiple phone numbers and email addresses for several people, but I didn't think that would create an issue.
I have recently bought a new N8. My previous phone was HTC touch diamond 2. In the HTC, you could block the caller id to people not in the contacts list. For example, only people whose numbers were stored on your phone/sim card could see that you were calling. If you called anyone else, it would come up as 'Caller ID Withheld'. But now in my N8, I only have three options. Show caller id, withhold caller id and 'set by network'
how I can show my caller id to people only on my contacts list?
My N8 was working fine but during one day it stopped giving me the name of whoever was calling me even though their details are on my phone, has anyone else come across this and does anyone know how to resolve this?
"Other Speech commands you can turn onYou can turn on additional Speech commands and functions in your phone's settings, including talking caller ID for incoming calls and texts. You can even tell your phone to read you a text and then dictate and send a reply.1To turn on Speech for accessibility, tap Settings > Ease of access, and then turn on Speech for phone accessibility.
I own a Nokia N8 and have installed Nokia Battery Monitor 2.1 and I've noticed that the native battery level monitor is always reporting more battery level than the Nokia Battery Monitor. Also I'm experiencing problems with the native monitor because it seems to be stuck at the same level (It has been stuck at 100% while Nokia Battery Monitor reported 70%).Switching off the phone hasn't solved the problem until I used restore the phone to factory default option but know it is stuck at 80% (and Nokia Battery Monitor reports 53%)
My N8 doesnt show any information like the number who is calling, and if the caller is saved in my contacts it still doesnt show any info when that person calls. when someone call it just display "call". is there a settings to fix this? this feature of every cellphone is extremely important im suprised my N8 doesnt have this. i have to ask "who's this" everytime
Yesterday my Nokia N8 said a new SW update was available and if I wanted to update, which I accepted. However after the update, every time I make or receive a call the Caller name doesn't show up in the screen, however when I go to the calls list the names show up...
PS: Before the update was working fine, I have only the memory phone being used and I don't have any duplicate contacts.
I have a Nokia N8, and suddenly, the caller ID stopped working, when someone calls , all it shows is "call" and it doesnt show me any number or anything. how can i fix this so that my phone shows the phone number calling me ?
Since a few days, whenever somebody calls me from a number that is in my agenda, it only shows the number, but not the name in the agenda. This is something that has happened since some days ago, as before this did not happen and I did not change any settings in between.
I am using nokia 5230. some of my contacts are saved in phone memory and some in sim memory. But now if anybody calls me neither the caontact name nor the contact number is apperaing. It simply shows call1 calling. And in the call list (missed, recieved)n its showing as no number.
I have an N8 with Symbian Anna. I have attributed an image to one of my contacts, but this image shows every time I recieve a call, regardless of who the caller is. How can I make my phone show the right image?
i updated my N8 and C7 to belle I like it but since iv updated when I receive a call now my caller ID pictures do not display. I'v tried resyncing more than once, tried re doing my contact pictures still no good...
Is there an app that can retrieve caller ID information even when call ID isn't set up with a service provider? Even when I get a call that's in my phone book, it just displays 'unknown'. This is annoying but I don't want to pay yet another fee to my provider.
I bought nokia lumia 900. Very nice phone but I have 1 problem every time when someone call me it shows unknown caller but contact is in my phone why that ? I used contact transfer.
I do not find a way to get the information at what time a SMS message was sent. For example if I don not have any network during several hours, the time at which I receive a SMS message will be the time at which I recover some network... not the time at which the writer sent the SMS message.
Even my Nokia 3410 was able to get this information... Why not my BB 9700? Same concerning the acknowledgement of receipt: I do not see at what time the SMS was received
I have a Nokia N8, and since a few months back it cannot find any 3G-signal. (it worked okay in may-june)when I try the SIM-card in my other phone (Nokia E52) it finds the 3G-signal directly without any problem. The settings is of course set to 3G, but I only get a 3g-symbol which is cross-out and no signal bar at the side. I have also tried dual mode but then it only finds the GSM-signal.
When updating my status via the Nokia FB app it can't find my location. It brings up a list of 10 places that are not near at all to where I live or where I want to check in from ... Is this a bug? All other applications can find my location including Nokia maps, fascinate, foursquare etc but I like to use the Nokia one.
When I start maps app it can not find find my location The red circle in the top left corner blinks and nothing happens Applications which must use my location do not work too The Internet works. May be I shall change any settings?
I can't find information about the 4 USB connection modes. When I plug in the usb cable I see PC Mode/Windwos Media Sync Mode/USB Mass Storage/Charge Only. The charge only mode is self explainatory. What are the other modes for and which one should be default when using MOTOCast sync or windows media player sync? I'm suspecting if I want to do a straight file copy I'd pick the Mass Storage mode?can I choose a default or will I always have to pick one?
Update - seems to have uninstalled itself - except for a thing called swype pen entry or similar - which says i have to delete swype first.. and swype is no longer findable but the text entry is default again - so I should worry.(Really no German Swype support
I bought a used Nokia N8 (without sim) which was reset to factory settings by the last owner.i used my sim on it and it loads up fine but i cant register the sim card because it doesnt have a mobile network available? i also cant phone with it etc. when i try to find the mobile network it says no access
Keys for hard resetting?Installed a theme and my phone restarted, and it doesn't seem to want to switch on,so I figured that a hard reset might work, but I can't seem to find the keys
Where are podcasts stored on the N8? I already have some on my phone but can't find them in exploere mode. I've given up on Nokia suite becaue of goo many unresolved problems & would rather copy them manually. To be honest I'm about to give up on the N8 & Nokia alltoghter, but that's another story. Not happy
Cant understand why the backup to PC of vital Lumia phone information such as contacts, calendar and messges can not be easily and quickly achieved as with the Nokia suite and N8. I believe it is synced automatically to Sky-drive but I cannot find evidence of this. I would like to have control of this data for easy retrieval and stored on my PC. Windows phone software on my PC is sub standard in comparison with Nokia Suite. It is clunky, contacts cannot be backed up, photos have no picture reference when transferred and the overall Windows Phone software on my PC is second rate in contrast to the Windows Phone 8 phone experience. Can anyone enlighten me on how I can easily copy my contacts to PC. No problem getting contacts into the phone. Just unclear on how to get a copy of them out.
