setting in symbian belle that i may have toggle that switches the phone from 3g to 2g. Its been stuck on AT&T's 2g edge network for the last 2 days.I took out my sim card and placed it in my trusty E71 and 3g works fine, so its not the carriers problem. I really hope this 701 isn't faulty. I already had to return one because of a defective accelerometer. They don't seem to make Nokia's like they used to.
View 3 Repliesi have bought this unlocked phone for about 550$, but internet is stuck on edge(not even 2g) which is incredibly slow.Please help me solve this i have searched internet but just a few ppl has the same problem with unlocked samsung galaxy S2 and tmobile.That made me think that there might be a solution like changing the Tmobile sim card(i dont know if there is only one type of sim card), entering an unlock code provided by tmobile, or going to a samsung maintenance service and let them fix it or anyother? I have updated to the new firmware but did no effect.I cant understand how such a big company like samsungs' cutting edge new phone comes out of the factory with unsupporting the USAs one(Tmobile) of the 2(Tmobile,ATT) GSM networks data frequency.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy N8 is stuck in offline mode. I have tried changing the profile, hard resetting, factory reset, another sim in my phone, my sim in another phone (both of which worked fine in other phone).I should also say that the phone had a fault before this. The battery ran dry and would not charge, I contacted my mobile company (virgin mobile) and they told me to send my phone in.
I received my phone back saying they could not fix the fault and it was not covered by the warranty. I tried to turn it on last night and it switched on, great I thought and put my sim back in but nothing. I checked the sim slot on the side of the phone and I can see that all the pins are fine and not bent or have been moved in any way.
I just bought a N8 and have a little problem with a message. As I did not have a proper connection when I sent it the message went to the outbox. Now its stuck there.Its not sent and I can't delete it. In 'Google' I was reading that older Nokia phones had also this problem. But the N8 is brand new, so how can this happen ? Will Nokia make an update any time soon or have you folks an other solution for me ?

I always use WLAN and am able to access the internet (including the Ovi store page) at all times. However, once I click "download" and it asks for the username and password, it always has the error "Network Error - Please Try Again". I keep trying a few times, and the connection is timed out.I have this cool phone but I can't play any games on it!

I have travelled via train to different places for work and such and noticed it still was not getting reception. View 3 Replies View Relatedi am a bit surprised that i cannot find software that does this.at home i have a network with a NAS, it also runs a mediaserver.i use this to have all my music and pictures available for all computers in my house.the N97 mini i bought about a year back was then promoted to have upnp av and network protocols. i suspected by now there would be players available that could either browse your home network or play back from the mediaserver.i have tried: SYmplayer, that shows me all computers with shared folders and i can play music from those, but not my NAS.(Fritzbox 7340 with NAS and mediaserver enabled)The nas is visible from vista and win7, but on xp you can only map it if you know the ip adress.
Symbian also only sees the windows computers in the networkSince there is no way to type in the path to my nas from symplayer it does work.i have also tried core player(core codex), but had no luck since the certificate was outdated and files to sign it yourself were not present.same was for 10live media...some asian player, but i accept if that is the only opneoggplayer/winamp seems also been discontinued or not workingi could not find anything else.strange that there is no interest in those tools, but if somebody else has bright ideas i would really like to know.it seems that nobody want to make their n97mini a mediaserver or something that can grab files from their network shares.
after upgrade my N8 to Anna, the new browser load very fast sometime but other time load very slow and get suck at the beginning of loading or the end for long time.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy mobile was working perfectly fine until I turned it off.And as soon as I turned it off, it got stuck on dim NOKIA logo screen. It vibrates when I slide the side switch. And also when I press the Menu button the Lock screen comes, but when I press the Unlock tab it goes back to NOKIA logo But doesnt do anything else... I really don't want to loose any data... If I wait until it runs out of battery (as the battery was also low, probablly 20-30% left) and then I plug the charger will it start working? I want to keep the hard reset as a very very last option...

View 7 Replies View RelatedFrom time to time my N8(Belle) will not connect to my WiFi. When I look at the wifi-list my network is listed as "known", but not connected to. When I press on it the only options are Details and Delete the AP. I can't force the phone to connect to a specific AP, which would be nice.If I turn the phone off and on again, it finds the Wifi and connects to it just fine. But it really shouldn't be necessary to reboot it in the first place.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on product code 0599399, updated my Ovi suite to Nokia Suite 3.3.86 and started the process to download and update my N8 running on anna to belle. It finished downloading the large update file and went through the process of backing up my contents and after that I got an error message "Something went wrong" Next screen it tells me that "Your phone is restarting" (with a couple of warning messages) but I have been on this screen for at least 45 mins now without any progress. My phone is still behaving as per norm but I'm not sure about what to do next. It doesn't seem like it had started the process of updating my phone yet but I'm being given instructions not to touch the phone or even disconnect the cable.

I can connect to my WiFi network, yet after a while of inactivity the phone starts using 3G data again. I go into the WiFi networks and see that my network is listed as "Known" but not "Connected". I have to manually select it to re-connect.Power saving mode for WiFi is set to off.Is there a setting to automatically connect to any known WiFi network when in range? I am happy to manage battery life by manually turning ove WiFi when not needed.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using my N8 with my virgin mail account happily for about a year. Recently I've found that outgoing messages are getting stuck in the outbox. They sometimes send (several days later) after I have restarted my phone. I thought I would try removing the mail box and starting again, after a couple of attempts the mail box was removed, but when I tried to set it up again.
It seemed to hang in the middle of the task and I ended up with a mail box with a string of hexadecimal numbers as the mailbox name. Now I cannot remove it : whenever I try to remove it, I get as far as 'removing mailbox' and then it just hangs there (have left it overnight). Possibly related, I have had a couple of messages recently about phone memory being full, but if i look at it through file manager it has 116MB free, and nothing in there which looks like it could obviously be removed.
Im downloading some app at ovi store in my PC using Nokia PC Suite, my N8 connects to my pc using Bluetooth.
i can install some app but some of them are cancelled with this error message "Network connection lost cancelling installation" and there's a message to select a particular icon to continue installation, but i cant find that icon in my N8 some snapshot of this error is attached
I'm getting a "Network connection lost" error shortly after the installation of a downloaded app is started. The status bar gets to about 15% and then the installation is interrupted. I've tried using WiFi and non-WiFi connections, but the result remains the same. My N8-00 was upgraded to the Belle OS over the weekend and it caused most of the apps to be uninstalled. Now I'm trying to get them back but fail to do so because of the error.

After about a week i had already downloaded about 25,000 dollars worth of apps (I have a 64 gbs iPhone 4s, which was a beautiful gift) Then it suddenly crashed and it wouldn't do anything. I removed the jailbreak by restoring and took it to an apple store and told them what just happened (without the jailbreak part) and they fixed it. But now my phone wont get 3g and will stick on edge.

I get 3G in my area but I have been doing some research and as a result always keep edge on? That it's good for phone usage and text type applications like gmail chat and email? That if you are wanting to surf the Internet 3g and wifi is faster?
Basically the research that I have found is to keep edge on at all times and use 3g or wifi if you want faster results. Also keeping iPhone on edge network uses less battery?
i updated my atrix to 4.1.83 and after it installed fine now i no longer have H+ only E for internet speed. "AT&T US HSDPA" is selected. anyone having this problem? my speeds used to be about 2500kbps - 3300kbs now im at 60kbs. apparently 4.1.83 increases speed for others by slowing mine down.
