Nokia :: Phone's Screen Went Gray And Restarted On Its Own
Mar 11, 2010I hope someone can help me remedy this problem before I decide to back up all my files and restart my phone all over again. I had three new text messages two of which I was able to answer. As I was about to read my third text message then my phone's screen went gray and restarted on its own. When I checked my messages, all of it were deleted but I still have my apps and media files. However, I'm not able to send or receive SMS but I can still make calls. I'd like to know what happened or what could have caused this and how I can remedy the problem.

Jul 5, 2010I've done a search and read some previous posts, and cannot work out why my N900 is randomly rebooting.I have manually restarted my phone and checked the boot count is reset to 0
I have attempted doing a nokia software updater firmware update and it confirms i'm on the latest firmware (10.2010.19.1) and i've used the app updater and updated all apps. It has happened before i enabled the extras-devel repository, so I doubt the fault lies there.
Since i restarted the device prior to running "cat /proc/bootreason" i can't find out the reason why it rebooted, but i will update this post as soon as it does it again.
I recieved this phone from Optus Australia, and is running a number of apps from both the ovi store and the app manager. The only apps i have installed from the extras-devel repository are unrar and unzip apps, although i did note that it updated a few other apps at the same time, like flashlight.

Jun 11, 2015yesterday afternoon and this morning today It restarted by itself. Thats twice now in the span of 3 days.. Should I be alarmed about this and ask for a replacement? So far i dont see any issues.. no lag or hiccups.. altho it gets warm when downdloading a lot of stuff ( google play music to be specific)

After that, I haven't been able to connect to the BIS (can't use Browser, BBM, etc).I've followed intructions from other posts here, such as, of course, pulling off the battery for 5 minutes, and going to Advanced Settings > Host Routing Table > Register Now.When I try to access the E-Mail Setup, a pop up appears "Your device had a problem connecting to the server". So I can'tsend service books.Everything worked just fine until that reboot. I used to get a message "Your device has been registered to the wireless network" each time after a restart but not anymore.

Aug 8, 2012Something weird happened yesterday, which is why I'm on here today. My phone restarted itself twice, all on its own. I was using the Google Play Music app both times, although I wasn't actually listening to anything at the tme. I've never used the app, it came with my phone and yesterday was the first time I actually tried using it.After the second time it restarted itself, I found these issues: my Home button didn't work. When you hold the power button and get the options of silence, airplane mode, sleep, off now I only have two options: sleep and off. When you touch the power button to lock the screen then touch it again, I used to have on my screen a swipe to unlock and a swipe to toggle between sound and no sound. Now I have neither. Oh, and my ringtone and notification were set to silent and the haptic feed back and key tones were on (I had them set to off). Also, I had set up my keyboard with the Swype, and it was reverted to the multi-touch keyboard.
I guess most of these things are no big deal, I reset my ringtones and notification tones and my keyboard. And I can silence my phone though the settings or by toggling the volume button all the way down. And when I touch the power button, I guess it is locked because the screen goes dark. But the most annoying thing is the home button not working because now I have to hit the back button (sometimes quite a bit, depending how far into the menus I'm in) to get back to the home screen.My husband has the exact same phone as I do and he also used the app for the first time yesterday, however he is not having any issues with his phone. But he never seems to have any problems with his, and I always seem to have some little buggy things with mine although this is the most worrying problem I've had. BB Curve :: Restarted Phone But It Wouldn't Turn On
Oct 10, 2011i decided to backup my phone as i had not in a while.It was perfectly fine when backing up and when i downloaded my pictures.A notification came up that my software was not up to date so i pressed check for updates.My computer found one update and i proceeded to update it.After the update my phone appeared to be completely wiped.I wasn't worried because i had done a backup.I proceeded to restore my phone.at one point it became frozen at a certain point.the cord became unplugged accidental and i gave up for the night.i plugged it into the wall to charge it and went to sleep. when i woke up the screen was completely white and it said "app reset". i restarted my phone but it wouldn't turn on.once it did it took about 20 minutes just to fill up the restart bar. after that it took about 5 minutes before it proceeded to security software verification but wouldn't load.the small black black arrow will not leave the screen of my phone.the software security wont update and i am getting very frustrated.at the moment the software security is still going and is only at 8 percent after this it doesn't proceed any farther but simply turns white and says app reset. i have now been through this process twice and just have my battery, sim and micro SD chip out and my phone is sitting next to me.

BB Bold 9700 :: All Info Lost Phone Restarted Completely?
May 30, 2010Redirect me to a post that may already be up or useful. First off, I apologize if I am posting a deja vu post. Secondly, I'd like to know if anyone has a fix for my 9700, I have owned this phone for 2 months, one week in to using my bold, I lost all of my info, everything was gone. It went back to the original background pic and everything. It didn't really phase me because I had only had it for a week and had only put in a few contacts.This morning I woke up to my BB plugged into my Macbook, which is the usual site, but when I unplugged the bold 9700 from my macbook everything was gone again, I took it to the bell store and they said there was nothing they could do, and that "that shouldn't happen, did you back up your phone?" I of course haven't had the time to back up my phone and I know it would save me right now but this still should never happen, I was only charging my phone and now everything on my phone is gone. I play JR hockey and all of my hockey connections, emails and texts are in that phone, I literally have 200+ contacts that I need and can't ever get back.

Mar 24, 2010I have been out of the loop for a while here, but i am starting to feel the upgrade itch. I have been using the N95-3 since its launch in the US and overall like it, but its starting to feel a bit under powered and dated.
Basically what i am looking for is an updated s60 phone that has a keypad with T9. I hate QWERTY keybords on phones, and i really rather have a keypad over a touchscreen. The x3 looks nice however being s40 i am not interested. Basically a thinner updated n95 would be exactly what i would like to see, am i barking up the wrong tree with this?

Jan 28, 2010Okay i've had my Nokia n97 for more than 6months now and its been working great except lately my facebook app wasn't working and i had to update it,so last night i backed up my files on my mobile and i connected it to the pc and updated it with the program that the mobile brings with a cd it was okay then i went back to restore my files and it said it had to restart so it turned off and i went to turn it on again and it stayed a blank screen with the nokia sign in the middle in blue (when you turn it on it that usually shows) but it stayed stuck there it doesn't go to pin code nor anything, and to turn it off i have to take the battery off,

Jul 30, 2010Yesterday I updated the software on my phone and downloaded the OVI Chat with the Here and Now software etc. The download and installation of the software went smoothly. I even turned off and turned back on the phone to ensure that all went well AFTER the installation was complete.
Today, however, my phone isn't working. This afternoon the phone displayed a white screen for 2 seconds -- I wasn't doing anything on the phone. When the screen came back I noticed that the phone wasn't locking anymore so I restarted the phone. It's not coming back on.
So far, I've tried the following:
1. removed the battery from the phone and put it back in
2. removed the memory card and tried to restart the phone
3. tried connecting the phone to the computer to see if the computer could read it
4. tried the hard reset (3 + * + call button + power button)

May 20, 2010As the title says - updated the phone and now have no option for full screen qwerty input! Everything else working fine - just lost one of the input options, handwriting, mini-qwerty or keypad are all that are left. Annoying as qwertry input was one of the best things about it - handwriting sucks, mini-qwerty is too small and if I wanted an alpha-numeric keypad I would have got a smaller, 'traditional' phone.

Tried taking out battery, sim, media card and put them one by one and still doing the same thing.
