View 109 RepliesHere what I done since the begging of the problem: when I first use, everything was ok (at least to me). One day without remembering to disconnect the device from Windows XP Sp2, I disconnected the USB cable to aswer a call (it was in mass storage mode).
After that don't remember exactly how but a few minutes laters after reboot the n900 some widgets disappeared from desktop. So I added them one more time but they won't come to desktop... I repeated many times the adding and after that the N900 gone crazy. Some applications still works but others didn't show the icon program on the menu, only the name under the icon appear, and when i tried to execute one of them the screen returned to desktop with all the widgets that first didn't show and the device reboot alone.
So I decided to flash and I followed every single step (that I found in a thread wrote by adamf) to flash maemo on N900 and I did it. But when I try to erase mass memory, the dots on the N900 screen stopped move and in the DOS windows there was: "suitable USB device not found, waiting". The N900 seems freezed. After 30 minutes I disconnected the USB cable and turned ON the device and it is OK. Well, all data is still there. Do I need to reset mass memory to erase the programs downloaded from the application catalogues? Flashing maemo doesn't do that?
Tried two times but the same thing happens and I quitted. I started to use the device and it works fine but I can't install some applications that first I had installed, like bounce evolution, APP widget, facebook widget (impossible installing error). But forecast weather and other widgets works... I can't understand why. Tried also other flasher like Global (first I have intalled Middle East) but I have the same error...
I have received this week my new N900. Everything superb until last Friday when I was in my car listening music through the A2DP profile (stereo bluetooth), received a call, was using also 3G and all this meanwhile the N900 was plugged to the car charger (borrowed from a N97). That was quite usual with my HTC Diamond. But suddenly when I left the car the N900 bricked, so I restarted but since then the only thing I could see is the NOKIA logo with the white wallpaper.
Later at home i tried to remove the battery, put it back again, plugged to the adapter and i could see a small usb logo on the right top corner. Then I followed the guides found here to flash und update the firmware (flasher-3.5 and so on, with my windows 7 pc). First I reinstalled the latest firmware file (.bin) and it seems to be OK, with no error comand. Then I rebooted the N900 but the result was the same, it stopped 30-40 segs later and switch off. I though it was also necessary to do the eMMC, so i repeated following the new steps, but in this case i found these messages from the flasher:
-USB not found
-USB raw data transfer EP found at EP2
-SU_GET_UPDATE_STATUS_REQ terrminated with error code 1.
I have no idea what do they mean but the case is that now I can see no usb logo on the top when I plug the usb adapter (either USB or AC), so it is now impossible to comunicate with the pc. I have tried again to remove the battery, even in a Nokia center with another battery from the 8500 which i didn't know was the same, but no result. The most strangest thing is that the N900 refuses to be charged as once it is plugged to the AC, a yellow light appears and on the screen I can only see the nokia logo on a dark backlight (as I said, with no usb logo now), but 30 segs later it is continously switching off.
I am already mentally prepared to ask Nokia for a replacement, but I still resist to accept there is no solution to revive this little but complex device.
I just put the memory card into my N900 from my old N95 and the N900 dont show it anywhere. I have restarted and searched for it and no good.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just this morning got my nokia n900, second hand from ebay. before i put any files on there i want to restore it completely, but this flashing thing is really confusing me. I've done a search of the boards but it baffles me, so if anyone could answer these questions it'd be really helpful:
1) how do i completely wipe it as though it were brand new? (not 'restore original settings' in settings menu, i mean the equivelant of a hard reset)
2) how do i determine what firmware i'm on?
3) what is 'flashing'? is it necessary? if i connect my phone to pc suite/NSU to check for updates, will it work as it does on S60 eg nokia 5800, or do i need another method?
4) i gather the latest firmware isn't yet available for the UK. how do i go about installing it given the n900 doesn't require a changed product code like other models?
I have some problems in my N900 so I flashing the maemo pr RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11.203.2_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM and after flash complete no Sim detect and no IMEI.

View 14 Replies View Related1 - Not all n900 applications i find on the net are searchable or listed at all on the n900s built in application downloader. some files i download manually off the net are in gz and deb format. do i need to install the nokia pc software and transfer them to the phone in order to use them, as i cannot find any other way to do it? from using google there are an awful lot of users saying the nokia software does not work very well at the moment and to avoid using it until its fully adapted for the n900, as some features are supposedly unusable?
2 - is there an easy file unzip program for the n900, hopefully easily found within the n900s application downloader? i tried searching for 'zip' and 'unzip' but nothing crops up
I've aquired a N900 with the never ending flashing dots boot problem. I've tried reflashing it a couple of times from my windows 7 laptop but no luck. I did get it to boot into the OS once, but turned it off to insert the SIM and had the same problem again. Is there anything I can try to get this thing working properly again?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI ssh from n900 to a debian server, which has locale sv_SE.ISO-8859-1. This mostly works fine, except when reading/writing email in mutt. I have had this problem with other terminals and usually solve it by changing locale to ISO-8859-1 (yes, I am not interested in UTF-8), but I can't find any instructions for changing n900 xterm to ISO-8859-1.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs soon as I opened my N900 box, and found that cable for TV connecting, I was thinking, could it be possible to use this phone as video capturing device directly from video cam?Second thought was "that would also make fine monitoring device on the field".I know that I can connect this phone to some sort of network with my computer, and via that to get it to be a computer monitor if I like.My camcoder can send video through that TV-cable, so could it be possible?
View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday evening, I suddenly couldn't get a GPRS or any other phone signal on my phone. On switching off/on, I was informed of the above error message.I tried rebooting the phone via the 'u' key (battery out) process and this did not solve the problem. I tried the SIM card in my old phone and it worked perfectly. The N900 WLAN works normally.I did nothing unusual with the phone yesterday evening so I am bemused at this error suddenly happening.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI keep having an error on boot-up where, after the Nokia logo comes and goes, the flashing dot sequence continues indefinitely, for hours; boot-up is never completed. The N900 becomes unusable. While in this "Forever Dots" state, if I try:
- tapping on/off button: flashing dots pause for a moment, then continue flashing forever as before- holding on/off button: device switches off; but when I switch it back on, after the Nokia logo we're back to the forever flashing dots- taking out the battery and replacing: same as holding on/off button..............
Just bought a device and found that I cannot connect to the home WiFi internet. It's terribly sad, because the main reason of buying this product was exactly i-net. When I connect it asks me to input "preliminary" (?) PSK code. Then it tells me that PSK key is wrong. I can connect using Nokia 5800, PSP, both laptops and my PocketLOOX 570, but N900 cannot. Even if I go to "set up coneections", and go step by step. It can see the wireless itself, no problem. when I set up identification, I choose WPA-PSK (is it correct?) and print in the key. Then same story happen. It cannot connect , and says "connection error", or something like that. That's it. What am I doing wrong there?

I bought this device right after Nokia announced that free offline navigation would be available for all current N-series handsets. How come that Ovi Maps is not available for the current N-series flagship? It should not be too hard to port the actual application to Maemo (the current navigation is not that bad - it just needs offline maps).Where can I find the release schedule for Ovi Maps for Maemo?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe Bluetooth on the my Blackberry Curve 9300 was working fine until recently. I am unable to pair my Blackberry with a Car Multi-media Kit (part of a McIntosh Sat Nav/Stereo system in a Subaru).I have tried both "Search" and "Listen" under the Bluetooth Options menu and get the following respective messages "No new device found" and "No device paired".
I recently deleted the previously paired Car Multi-media Kit (as it stopped connecting for some reason) but I am not sure if this is cause of the problem. There is no issue with the bluetooth in the Car Multi-media Kit as I was able to pair separately both an Iphone and an Ipod.
