When my N900 is connected to my PC via PC Suite Mode. How do I switch back to Mass Storage Mode as this seems to be the only way that I am able to download photos to my PC.
View 2 RepliesOn a number of occasions now I have found that my N900 becomes stuck in Mass Storage mode and I'm unable to change it to PC Suite mode. Things I try each time, removed data cable and plug it back in; clear USB devices; power N900 off and start again. Non seem to work and at some point in the future I'll get asked again and can swap mode. Is there a way on the N900 to make it change once connected?I know PC Suite is next to useless with the N900 but it is so much simpler doing appointments etc on the pc keyboard!

View 10 Replies View RelatedJust got my phone and it is completely stock. When using the video camera and switching between slow-motion modes (normal, 120 FPS & 240 FPS) the camera app crashes and I get the error message "Can't connect to the camera".
Then the camera wont work, no matter the app I use, that uses the camera. After a reboot it works again though.
Sometimes it crashes the first time I've changed the mode to 240, sometimes after cycling through the modes a bit, but it always happen and it wont many cycles (1-3). I've recorded functional 240 FPS videos, so that part works.
I've tried starting the phone in safe mode and deleting cache partition, with the same result.
There are others with the same problem, but it doesn't seem to be a common error. Is it a software problem or hardware, and is RMA the only option?
Have a N900. Got the phone to work against Smart Suite and later Ovis Suite very well for the first 3 weeks. Then the trouble started. I used it both with USB cable and BTooth. First my synchronization with Lotus Notes calendar stopped (have to go by the PC), then contacts and messages. And today it does not even recognize the phone as a compatible phone. In the whole period I have been installing all kind of applications. My suspicion is that the trouble is due to an installation of a particular application - my question is:Anyone that got an idea what might have caused this?? Hope for help without re-intsalling the machine.

it shows the drive but when i open it, it says "please insert in drive..." or when i check drive properties, it says Size availble as 0 and used also as 0.
In short, it is not detecting the memory card although it works fine with OVI
I think my N97 is playing up. I cant take photos as it says my E drive is full which is nonsense as I only had 5 pics on there no music or video!. When I went to file manager it wont let me access the mass memory as it says "memory in use". I thought if I synced it up to my Mac i could somehow get into the E drive and see what the problem is but low and behold its not compatible. I've had a look on here for Mac versions and theres lots of people talking about it but no links or descriptions as to where I might find it!. I sync is useless as this just does calendar and notes. I need something that will let me access everything on my phone.

And i could connect phone to PC in all modes. But now, when I connect my phone to PC in mass storage mode, it automatically switches to ovi suite! I can't connect it in mass storage mode . But I can access mass storage when I connect my phone in Ovi suite mode. And I can copy files to and from mass storage. But I can't connect in mass storage mode. What might be the reason. Not sure what the problem is, but I think it's a problem with my AV software or something else on my PC or an app that's on my phone, rather than a hardware problem.A few days ago I started having problems accessing the memory card via my PC when my phone was plugged in. A restart of both fixed it on all occasions, now even that doesn't work.It shows up in My Computer but when I try to open it my PC tells me to insert a disk into drive I.It has worked without fail in the past , because my AV software used to flash up a warning that Autorun has been disabled for that device.

0) I have two message in my Inbox, Remove and replace the battery and switch on the device. After that I format E:Mass Storage and close File manager
1) In Messaging Options I select Settings and than Other and change the Memory in user to E:Mass Storage
2) I'm asked if I'd like to "copy all messages to the new message memory". I click on "Yes"
3) I'm asked if I'd like to "Save original messages" and I click "No" as I'd like to use the new stoage exclusively
After that the Inbox is empty.
Once my 5800 is plugged into the usb port is shows has a Nokia OVI suite. You cant double click it like a normal removable drive, you have to expand it to get the following folders :
Which folder does the videos reside in and which folder does the images reside it that I want to transfer from the phone to the computer .
I have always had Sony phones in the past and they have specific folders for Video , Picture and Audio. The Nokia is confusing the hell out of me

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was videoing a long event and at the end the time flashed and then the videoing stoped after about 26mins. I then restarted videoing the next song and ran out of mass storage memory after about 2 mins. I quickly deleted some old photo/vid and continued videoing.
Later that evening I checked the video and non was in the gallary.I check via the PC etc. I also tried a photo recovery app for mass storage solid state disks. All came up blank. I tried to record more video it would show immediately in the video players gallery view but not in the normal gallery and when I tried to play it would only show the last frame and have an error message "unable to play". It still allows the recording of photos.
I have now changed the storage to the SD card and it is fine on the SD. I have change to record to the mass storage area but it will still only do photos
I have a Nokia 808 Pureview and was having problem with a lot of the basic functionality stop working on my phone. So the phone was master reseted before any of my pictures or videos were backed up. Usually I would be able to take a recovery program on windows like recuva to get the files back but my problem was, was that the mass storage was encrypted. Would it still be possible access the encrypted data that was reset off the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to use Map Loader 3.0.28.0 to load Maps onto my N97 Mini ( software version 10.0.020, 14-10-09 ), on which I have installed the latest Maps version ( 3.03 10wk01 b05 ). I've run this Maps more than once, and the cities folder exists on my E: ( Mass Memory ) drive. There is no 'F:' drive ( i.e. no memory card ). When I connect my phone to the PC, I start it in PC Suite mode. Using PC Suite 7.1, I am able to interact with my phone.
When I start Map Loader, it says 'You have connected at least one phone without a valid Maps drive. Either you are using an old Maps version - then you must update your Maps application or reconnect your phone in mass storage mode - or you have never started your Maps application - then you have to start the Maps application once and restart Map Loader'. Connecting in Mass Storage mode does not seem to help.
Since the Belle update, whenever I take a picture I am able to view it in the phone, but when I connect to a PC to transfer the picture in Mass Storage, the pictures are not there. I've looked in both the Mass Memory and Phone Memory folders. I've checked to see if the photo has a saved file name which it does. It finds them in Ovi Suite but I much prefer to use Mass Storage, it's so much easier and quicker to use.

Linux recognizes the phone mass storage and modem out of the box where Win7 need to install drivers,without the modem driver I can't access the internet to ask question about this phone, but the phone does not come with any s/w and driver disc so I must download from internet beforehand, thanks God my netbook has Linux installed so that I can write a note complain about this!This is no Joke Nokia, N900 is the worst supported flagship phone I ever had, please at least give us a working s/w suite with your next new phone!

I'm having trouble connecting fully my N900 to my laptop using the PC Suite software again.I got my phone earlier this month and i managed to connect the phone to the laptop then with no problem, however, yesterday, i reinstalled my windows xp like i do every few months and installed the nokia pc suite to my laptopn and now i am unable to transfer any media files i.e. music, films and such to my phone.i dont get this at all as the pc suite connects to the phone fine as it shows my calendar too and the image of my phone but everytime i transfer some files through Transfers videos section it doesnt recognise any phone. I usually add those media files through My Computer>Device with Removable Storage as an icon of the phone appears there but thats not even there anymore. I also notice on the bottom of main screen of the pc suite this message:Welcome to PC Suite Unfortunately your device is not fully supported by Nokia PC Suite.I dont know what that means and how to resolved it. I have followed every help/how to guide and FAQ i could find with no luck. I did everything correctly when i connected the phone to the laptop and i have installed and reinstalled the pc suite but again no luck.when i hoover over the phone icon on thre system tray of my laptop i noticed that: N900 (Storage Mode) connected in a non-compatible USB mode. is this the problem?
