Huawei Nexus 6P :: Camera Crashes When Switching Between Slow-motion Modes
Nov 28, 2015
Just got my phone and it is completely stock. When using the video camera and switching between slow-motion modes (normal, 120 FPS & 240 FPS) the camera app crashes and I get the error message "Can't connect to the camera".
Then the camera wont work, no matter the app I use, that uses the camera. After a reboot it works again though.
Sometimes it crashes the first time I've changed the mode to 240, sometimes after cycling through the modes a bit, but it always happen and it wont many cycles (1-3). I've recorded functional 240 FPS videos, so that part works.
I've tried starting the phone in safe mode and deleting cache partition, with the same result.
There are others with the same problem, but it doesn't seem to be a common error. Is it a software problem or hardware, and is RMA the only option?
Okay so I recorded some really cool slow motion shots. I can go into the edit screen and select the exact spot the slow motion should be. But when I go to send/post it the the video is completely in slow motion. Nothing in normal speed at all.
the camera app crashes on my 6p while doing slow motion video. I've seen a few mentions of this here and there on the web, with suggestions to factory reset / wipe cache, etc. I have tried this but no luck. I don't really see a definitive answer anywhere, but see quite a few complaints about it.
What happens is the camera app crashes when trying to take slow motion video, while zoomed in, either at 120 fps or 240 fps. I haven't seen anybody else mention this specifically while zoomed in, but that's what's happening to me. If I'm in the camera app and switch to slow mo video, then zoom in, move the phone around a bit, the app freezes and crashes with a "cannot connect to camera" error 100% of the time. I don't even have to start recording, the screen just starts to get jumpy, then eventually freezes completely. It's not a random thing, I can replicate the problem over and over.
I'm wondering how to adjust slow motion in overall video that i shot .I tried in original google photos there is option to adjust but it make all the video in slow motion !! Not the time i selected .
is there anyway to save/share the slow motion video with some regular speed & only part slow motion? when ever i try to share from Google Photos to another app it make the entire video slow.
Not always but a high percentage of the time if I'm using slow motion 240fps recording it ends at some point with the camera crashing and nothing can fix it other than a restart of the phone.
I can rma but I don't think it's a hardware issue.
Playing around with the slowmo video and I noticed that during playback, the slow motion doesn't start until like 3-4 seconds into the video. Is this normal?
Having issue with a grainy picture when shooting 240fps? Is this normal? Maybe it's because the lighting isn't bright enough? I'll upload a sample later!
today i tried using the slowmotion mode in the camera, and before you start recording the camera show good details but after you start recording the detail drops a lot, its like 360p or 480p....the resolution in fact is 720p but it doesn't look like it at all....is this how it supposed to be??
When I click mode only a few options come up.. selfie.wide selfie.interval shot.virtual shot and download. For those of you who say click download. I have already tried there is no slow motion option there either. I have seen other people's s6's when they click mode the slow motion option is there from the start. I'm worried. The slow motion option was one of the main reasons I got the phone .
So long story short, I restored a backup after wiping my device, and I forgot to take the pattern lock off before backing up. No pattern I entered worked. I tried a bunch of things, and eventually I found a flashable zip that let me in, but now if I try to switch the lockscreen type from Swipe it crashes as soon as I press the button to load the different lockscreen types. Also, it crashes when I try to look at fingerprints.
I made a dumb mistake that I'd like to correct. I've tried flashing the factory image (without wipe) and tried flashing stock gapps. I'm thinking maybe there is a flashable lockscreen zip, but I haven't found anything. Is it possible to extract the lockscreen from a working 6P so I can flash it?
Tonight I was in the gmail app doing a search through my work inbox. It showed me some results, but that wasn't old enough so I said "Load more". Repeated that step a few times and suddenly gmail crashed out ("Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped working"). Relaunching it ever-so-briefly makes the list of mail messages appear but then crashes again.
I completely powered off and rebooted - same thing happened when I opened gmail again.
I went into Settings -> Apps, selected Gmail and went to storage. Cleared the cache and then tried opening it -> same result.
Clear Cache, reboot before opening -> same result.
The Clear Data button appears enabled in the same green color as Clear Cache, however nothing happens when I click it. Clear Cache gets a shadow / ripple effect where I click it. Nothing like that on Clear Data, it's like it doesn't recognize it is "touchable".
I also note that when I go into the Gmail app (before going into the separate screen where Clear Data / Clear Cache are), that the Disable button and Force Stop buttons are both greyed out / disabled.
From the home screen, I tapped the button to bring up the list of open windows/apps and swiped Gmail off to close it that way, but again no change in behavior.
Phone is stock ROM. I did unlock the bootloader in anticipation of rooting it, but I ended up never going that next step and have just been taking the OTAs since then (am currently on 6.0.1, January 1 security patch level).
When my N900 is connected to my PC via PC Suite Mode. How do I switch back to Mass Storage Mode as this seems to be the only way that I am able to download photos to my PC.
I'm having a really weird problem with my phone. The wifi connection is super slow on my Nexus6P, but on my macbook it is fine as it should be. I tested on two more phones, one iPhone and my OnePlus one, wifi works fine on both of them.
I tried restarting my phone and nothing, I did a factory reset on my phone and the same problem still happens.
When I did turned of my router for like 2 minutes and then turned it on again, the wifi connection on my nexus6p worked fine for some minutes and then got slower again.
So I cracked my screen, changed it with OEM new parts, and worked great for weeks after the installation. Now, I'm having camera issues, back camera works fine, but when you switch to front facing camera the app freezes and crashes, and I get cant connect to camera black screen, and at this point the back camera wont work either, if you restart and clear data on camera app the back camera works again, but front facing will never work.I;m running stock rooted but I've had this issue with rooted custom roms and stock unrooted. I'm not sure if this is related to the screen change or not, but it worked great for weeks after the screen change. and, I;m having the same issue with other camera apps too, no snap chat installed nor any other apps that could conflict.
I'm missing something but since my Lollipop upgrade, the stock camera app will capture pics but won't let me review them. After I snap a picture, I have to leave the camera app then open the "Photos" app to review them.
I was playing around with slow motion video over the weekend and wanted to post this because it wasn't obvious how to do it in the camera app.
In video mode, tap the gear icon and change the FPS to 120. It is only available in certain aspect ratios (it works in 16:9 HD). Record your video and watch it in the stock Gallery app for slow mo. You can adjust the slow-mo speed while viewing. I couldn't get the slo-mo to work in Google Photos.
There may be other ways to do this but this is how made it work.
My video recording in stuck in slo-mo, don't know if I am missing something or what. Camera Mode is not set to Slo-mo. I can set it to that and than back to Auto but it still records in Slo-mo. What is going on and how I can turn it off?
My camera has gotten slow in hdr mode. Meaning, I hit the shutter and maybe 2 seconds later it begins the process of taking the picture. It didn't use to be this slow...In non-hdr it's fast, as it always has been. I cleared cache on the camera app, no change...
Ok My phone seems to be working in slow motion, an irritating mini clock appears in the middle of the screen and everting freezes. Is it a processor problem?
I like to use this feature along with Coaches Eye app to analyze my golf swing. I should have probably researched this a bit better but at least I'm in Sprint's 14 day window of returns.Pick up an HTC One M8 which has SloMo or wait for the next thing?
Is there a way to restore this function? The only setting is "Auto" and when trying to check for other modes, a message says this camera does not support those functions. Why? They were supported under OS 5 in the same phone? Also, the camera shots are not nearly as nice as the older 8330.
when I open my camera it shows only camera logo and the shot button at the bottom. it happned on stock and I am now on purenexus and the same. what can I do. (its not hardware because camera is working after few seconds when restart and than its crashes)
I just got my Nexus 6P yesterday, unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP, and did the systemless root, and now my camera app does not boot!I read somewhere flashing the stock boot.img fixes it, but then i'd lose the systemless root.
I'm running the latest Cyanogenmod 13 nightly on my Nexus 6P, without gapps. Unfortunately, I do not have an HDR option in the camera (tried AOSP and Google camera).
I already flashed the vendor.img from Google. What I could do? I do not want to install gapps.
When I try to use time**bleep** while recording, I can't set the slow-motion effect. It records, it saves and it just open up in Gallery and it plays at full speed... How do I use the slow-motion effect?
