Nokia N900 :: EMMC Lfash Phone Wont Boot Into Flash Mode?
Jun 26, 2010I Just reflashed my N900 to RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM and wanted to clear it completely by flashing RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM Though the first 1 flashes just fine, but the vanilla file wont flash. I entered this command flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_ MR0_ ARM.bin -f -R. It detects the device, then it says "booting device into flash mode" But then nothing happens anymore, phone does not show usb icon anymore And i just see flasher v2.5.2 <sep 24 2009> Image 'mmc', size 255947 kB version RX-51_2009SE _10.2010.13-2.VANILLA USB device found found at bus bus-0, device address \.libusb0-0001--0x0421-0x0105. Found device RX-51, hardware revision 2101 NOLO version 1.4.14 Version of 'sw-release': RX-51_2008SE _10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_203 Booting device into flash mode Suitable USB device not found, waiting. Can anybody explain me why it wont do this? EDIT: Tried a few times to start over. Sometimes it reboots, and i see the low power mode 5fots moving. Then after a few seconds, it freezes on the 2nd dot.

Jan 7, 2010My N900 only seems to be able to connect to PC Suite in 'non-compatibility' mode.This mode doesnt allow me to use any of the PC suite applications.How do I change the mode to 'compatibility' mode, or the 'normal' mode so everything works!No options appear on the phone when the USB cable is connected for PC Suite, like it should do? The phone is automatically charged via the connection though.

Mar 31, 2010I'm having problems connecting my N900 to my PC via USB (Mass Storage mode). I've contacted Nokia support twice but haven't heard anything back.When I connect it up, a Windows pop-up from the system tray appears saying "This device will perform faster if plugged into a USB 2.0 slot". File transfers to and from the device are extremely slow.
I've checked out my motherboard, and it only has USB 2.0 slots. I tried them all anyway, and besides, my iPod and other USB devices such as data sticks connect to USB 2.0 no problem at all, using these very same ports.I've tried on a friend's computer, and without having to install anything, the phone instantly popped up, USB 2.0 mode, no problem. What's wrong with my computer? What a I missing? Any suggestions?
Nokia :: N900 - Booting Into Update Mode
Aug 9, 2010Installed "enhanced kernel (titan) for power users" from my install list in application manager, as part of trying to get the Mobile Hotspot app to work. I was advised to do so by some very knowledgeable N900 users on this forum. Well...long story short(er)...loading the kernel did not make mobile hotspot work, so I decided to uninstall and revert back to the factory kernel. I did so using the "uninstall" app that came with the titan kernel....the screen went blank about half way through the process,...gave me a message that "kernel couldn't be removed". Thereafter, upon rebooting the phone, the N900 just sits there and reboots, reboots, reboots now...never completing a reboot before rebooting again. Sever has informed me that someone might be able to tell me how to reboot into update mode instead of Maemo for flashing....perhaps being able to just flash the kernel instead of the whole OS,...which I'll do if necessary.

This was a feature available on my old E90 and N96 models and was very useful when all you wanted to do was enjoy wireless music through (Nokia's excellent) BH-905 headphones.

Feb 6, 2010I have a Nokia N900. When I am in offline mode, but there is a SIM card in it, when I try to connect with Wifi, I get a message saying: Exit offline mode? (Yes/No are the possibles answers). Well I click No to connect to the internet while I am in offline mode, but nothing happens then! It connects without a problem without a SIM card or when I am not in offline mode. Is that supposed to happen? No Internet in Offline Mode?

Jan 26, 2010I have been trying to connect with Nokia PC suite but as I plug the N900 and select PC suite mode, windows xp asks for drivers for new found device.Reinstalling PC Suite didn't help.I used to have a N95 ... could this be interfering in some obscure way ? Reading Nokia web pages let me think drivers are included with the Nokia PC Suite.

Mar 1, 2010On a number of occasions now I have found that my N900 becomes stuck in Mass Storage mode and I'm unable to change it to PC Suite mode. Things I try each time, removed data cable and plug it back in; clear USB devices; power N900 off and start again. Non seem to work and at some point in the future I'll get asked again and can swap mode. Is there a way on the N900 to make it change once connected?I know PC Suite is next to useless with the N900 but it is so much simpler doing appointments etc on the pc keyboard!

Jan 18, 2010I'm having a strange issue with my N900. It started yesterday when I plugged into my PC in external stockage mode. Windows gave me an alert saying that the phone should be analysed because of a faulty file system. I ignored this message. I have now noticed that I can no longer save any data on the internal memory, on the microSd there is no problem. I have no idea how to solve this problem so any advice would be great.

Apr 20, 2010I bought my N900 2 weeks back. My GPS is not working. If I try to open Nokia Maps it gives me a messages as follows
1. "Looking for GPS"
2. "Downloading Data/Looking for GPS"
3. "Looking for GPS"
4. "No GPS Signal"
I did lot of readings on this but couldn't find a fix. This is reported as a bug in Maemo Bugzilla.But I'm confused with the comments from other users in these forums.So please update me if this is a general bug, or is it something wrong with my mobile.
Nokia :: N900 Bluetooth Not Working
May 28, 2010My bluetooth was working fine in the beginning, but now I'm unable to start the bluetooth and/or pair it to any devices.I setup from the bluetooth menu the bluetooth on, visible and name it but, when I click "save" button nothing happens. When I re-enter the menu all the settings are gone, and the bluetooth has never started.
I just downloaded today/yesterday the latest maemo update and was hoping this would fix the problem but the problem still exists.
Nokia :: N900 Internet Connection Not Working
Apr 29, 2010I've had the N900 since Feburary now and it started today.I use to have internet connection on all the time but today, it's not working.I've tried to get a connection but it message says "Internet Connection Failed, Try Again?"When I press Yes, it tries again but get the same message. I've didn't change any connection settings and I'm with T-Mobile if that helps.

Mar 7, 2010I am having some problems with my phone which I think might be related to gstreamer.When I open the camera cover and the camera tries to launch I get the error message "Operation failed". Media player also does not work, I can see the media files but when I try playing them nothing happens.
I used gstreamer to capture images for an application that I created and it has always worked fine until recently, when I started noticing the problems with the camera and media player.Between the time everything was working and now, this is what I have done:
-installed OpenGL ES 2
-installed Qt
-copied a bunch of screenshots from the phone to my Mac (i think I just did it through bluetooth but I might have used the usb cable)
Here is what I have done to try to fix the problem:
-connect the phone via usb to a windows computer, rightclick the n900 icon and error check (as recommended on this forum)
-update the firmware using app manager
-reboot
-type dmesg in the terminal after opening the lens cover - that did not output any errors
Could this be related to anything other than the gstreamer? If it is the gstreamer, should I try reinstalling it?

Mar 18, 2010Nokia. Why release a phone with no/very little software support? It's been about 4 months since the release and it's still not much better.I replaced my Iphone with the N900 because it's meant to be an Iphone beater, but the truth is looking sadly the opposite.Nokia Map loader is not working and the PC Suite has bugs and it's complicated having to switch between PC Suite mode and Mass Storage mode. What's happened to my free Navigation?Come on Nokia this is embarrasing, I absolutely love this phone and I want to recommed it to my friends, but with the software situation that's not a possibility.

Jan 15, 2010I'm using Nokia Messaging with my new N900 but the problem that I will comment it already happen with old N97. Seems a problem with Yahoo accounts and Nokia Messaging.
I have a Nokia Messaging account that I created during the first appear of Nokia Messaging service and now with Movistar Spain subscription. In my account I have 2 Google Mail Accounts (Normal and Apps), a MobileMe account and Yahoo IMAP (spanish address) account.
All the accounts work correctly except Yahoo account. What happen? That I have emails in the inbox of mail mobile 3 days old, the old emails from third day suddenly became unreaded, I open to read, and are marked as read, but after some time (30min, 1hour) or some time like this became unreaded suddenly. For example today some emails, in the case of today 15 emails from 13th of january became unread again again and again.
It's annoying because with this behaviour there's no way to know how really new emails you have and also for every time the email is marked as unread the mobile spend time and battery notifying me. There's someone else that has this problem? Any propose or solution?
I try to delete the Yahoo account in my Nokia Messaging account and create a new one with the address, but the problem come back again and again. A solution could be to classify all the email every day in folders keeping my Inbox of Yahoo account in server clean, but there's some day that I have no time to do this work.
Nokia :: N900 Transfer Music / Ovi Music / Connected In Wrong Mode
May 1, 2010I am trying to transfer music to my N900 device but Ovi Music tells me it is connected in the wrong mode. It says" unplug your device and reconnect it, a menu will appear, and depending on the model, use one of the following: Media Player, Printing and Media and Media Transfer. The problem is that no menu appears on the screen of the N900. What should I do?

Feb 28, 2010My N900 got in a deep coma after the battery ran empty. I managed to get it out after flashing the device with the vanilla image and the latest OS following the instructions on the Meamo WIKI: https://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware Flashing through windows didn't work (almost sent it to Nokia) but booting fom an Ubuntu USB stick and flash the N900 did do the trick at the end. The following images are flashed: RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin RX-51_2009SE_ 3.2010.02 -8.002 _PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin. The device seem to work OK again until I tried to enter some text from the keyboard. Some characters now seem to be inter connected: when I enter an 'a' it becomes 'oa' when I enter an 'o' it becomes also 'oa' when I enter an 'x' it becomes '.x' when I enter an '.' it becomes also '.x' when I enter an 'd' it becomes 'dk' when I enter an 'k' it becomes also 'dk' when I enter an '#' it becomes '#&'when I enter an '&' it becomes also '#&' I verified 'text input' and 'language®ional settings' under 'setting' but nothing seems to be wrong there. I don't us any custom dictionairy. The vitual keyboard work normal. It pretty much sucks when the keyboard can't be used. does anybody has a solution for this issue?

Jan 26, 2010Odd thing I noticed last night with my n900, in that the shortcuts that I had on the desktop would no longer open the relevant app, so I could access Phone etc.When I deleted the shortcut and went to re-add it, the Phone (and Contacts, Conversation, Clock, Photos etc) all had 2 entries for shortcuts. One of which opens the app, and the other does nothing.I've now gone through and replaced each one with the one that works, but I have no idea what caused this. Aug 23, 2010Sync with Outlook calendar/tasks (regardless whether using USB or BT) fails with error code 8004fd22 in Ovi Suite. N900 says nothing.Backups and contacts sync with Ovi Suite works ok.Sync used to work earlier. The only thing I've done is that I've installed the Hildon patch, that fixes the "jumping" phone answer UI (from maemo.org). Should have nothing to do with sync, but who knows.Ovi Suite is of last available version on Win7/32bit and N900 has PR 1.2.
