Nokia :: N900 PC Suite Mode Fails / Drivers Needed?
Jan 26, 2010
I have been trying to connect with Nokia PC suite but as I plug the N900 and select PC suite mode, windows xp asks for drivers for new found device.Reinstalling PC Suite didn't help.I used to have a N95 ... could this be interfering in some obscure way ? Reading Nokia web pages let me think drivers are included with the Nokia PC Suite.
like the title suggests i cant install pc suite mode, it fails saying no such interface supported. is this a known issue? does anyone have any ideas on this.
My N900 only seems to be able to connect to PC Suite in 'non-compatibility' mode. This mode doesnt allow me to use any of the PC suite applications. How do I change the mode to 'compatibility' mode, or the 'normal' mode so everything works! No options appear on the phone when the USB cable is connected for PC Suite, like it should do? The phone is automatically charged via the connection though.
On a number of occasions now I have found that my N900 becomes stuck in Mass Storage mode and I'm unable to change it to PC Suite mode. Things I try each time, removed data cable and plug it back in; clear USB devices; power N900 off and start again. Non seem to work and at some point in the future I'll get asked again and can swap mode. Is there a way on the N900 to make it change once connected?I know PC Suite is next to useless with the N900 but it is so much simpler doing appointments etc on the pc keyboard!
Have a N900. Got the phone to work against Smart Suite and later Ovis Suite very well for the first 3 weeks. Then the trouble started. I used it both with USB cable and BTooth. First my synchronization with Lotus Notes calendar stopped (have to go by the PC), then contacts and messages. And today it does not even recognize the phone as a compatible phone. In the whole period I have been installing all kind of applications. My suspicion is that the trouble is due to an installation of a particular application - my question is:Anyone that got an idea what might have caused this?? Hope for help without re-intsalling the machine.
I was not able to download Nokia OVI Suite since Friday (12march10). Result was always the same: stop at 99%. I've tried different browsers with no success. Seems like sum hashes doesn't match. Meanwhile I've downloaded many other files from other sites without problem. I don`t believe the problem is in my comp. I use Windows7 enterprise and I have high speed internet connection (20Mb).
I have had many kind of problems connecting my N97 mini with my laptop but have finally hitted the edge in this issue and didn't find an answer existing here. When I updated my Ovi Suite to the latest version the connection to my N97 mini was cutted off. This was maybe two weeks ago and I haven't been able to connect the phone to the laptop with PC suite connection form ever since (and no further updates available). I can sure connect with the Ovi Music in other connection forms and store the music to my phone but any connections with the Ovi Suite fails. There for I cannot sync my photoes or address book or get the new updates by my computer. What could I do to get the connection back? Install an older version again? Where to get one?
Today I checked the program updates with my phone application and there is software version 12.0.110 available to upload. Well, my phone does offer for other updates to "start to update" but this one gives only option to "update via computer" (I don't know the exact terms for the option written in the quotes since I use my Nokia in Finnish). How could I get the updates to my phone via computer when I cannot connect with the Ovi Suite anymore?
everything was working fine until I updated the Ovi Suite to v 2.1.1.245 then phone wouldnt sync anymore. I restore the computer back to the date before the Ovi suite was updated taking it back to v 2.1.1.1. now the phone still wil not sync. any ideas ? (Im syncing with the usb cable). I often get a messege telling me to set my phone to "set my phones usb mode to ovi suite or PC Suite" which I do of course but no success just fails to sync evrytime now. wish I had nevver tryed to update the ovi software now.
N900 is a Linux phone right ? why we still have to stick with a Windows suite then !? Linux boots up on my netbook in 30s where Win7 took 2min. Linux recognizes the phone mass storage and modem out of the box where Win7 need to install drivers, without the modem driver I can't access the internet to ask question about this phone, but the phone does not come with any s/w and driver disc so I must download from internet beforehand, thanks God my netbook has Linux installed so that I can write a note complain about this! This is no Joke Nokia, N900 is the worst supported flagship phone I ever had, please at least give us a working s/w suite with your next new phone!
I have bought a N900 today and am busy testing it. With the phone, no real user guide was given. I downloaded one from the Nokia site. But I do not seem to find how to make the screen rotate.
I'm having trouble connecting fully my N900 to my laptop using the PC Suite software again.I got my phone earlier this month and i managed to connect the phone to the laptop then with no problem, however, yesterday, i reinstalled my windows xp like i do every few months and installed the nokia pc suite to my laptopn and now i am unable to transfer any media files i.e. music, films and such to my phone.i dont get this at all as the pc suite connects to the phone fine as it shows my calendar too and the image of my phone but everytime i transfer some files through Transfers videos section it doesnt recognise any phone. I usually add those media files through My Computer>Device with Removable Storage as an icon of the phone appears there but thats not even there anymore. I also notice on the bottom of main screen of the pc suite this message:Welcome to PC Suite Unfortunately your device is not fully supported by Nokia PC Suite.I dont know what that means and how to resolved it. I have followed every help/how to guide and FAQ i could find with no luck. I did everything correctly when i connected the phone to the laptop and i have installed and reinstalled the pc suite but again no luck.when i hoover over the phone icon on thre system tray of my laptop i noticed that: N900 (Storage Mode) connected in a non-compatible USB mode. is this the problem?
When I click on "Backup" in PC-Suite it says: "No phones are connected. Connect now."However, all other applications in PC-Suite recognize my connected phone successfully. Can anyone please advise why Backup doesn't recognize it?
Well, PC Suite or Ovi, both are not yet fully supported on Nokia n900, unfortunately.I used to use the PC Suite conveniently to send SMSs by typing it thru my laptop. It was a very convenient way of searching SMSs by subject or by the sender's number. I could also copy/paste an SMS sender's number and save as a new Contact. It was also a convenient way of searching the Contacts also, by typing in a few keywords or a few numbers.I am missing all these functionalities badly.Well, Nokia n900 will eventually substitute my laptop at least that is my intention but I am not there yet. Even then, I shall require the convenient search/ editing facilities in the PC Suite/ Ovi to manage the Contacts and Messages.
When my N900 is connected to my PC via PC Suite Mode. How do I switch back to Mass Storage Mode as this seems to be the only way that I am able to download photos to my PC.
Sync with Outlook calendar/tasks (regardless whether using USB or BT) fails with error code 8004fd22 in Ovi Suite. N900 says nothing.Backups and contacts sync with Ovi Suite works ok.Sync used to work earlier. The only thing I've done is that I've installed the Hildon patch, that fixes the "jumping" phone answer UI (from maemo.org). Should have nothing to do with sync, but who knows.Ovi Suite is of last available version on Win7/32bit and N900 has PR 1.2.
We are especially looking for Nokia N900 and MS Outlook 2010 users. We will tell more about the new features and improvements in Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2 when the testing starts.
I have been trying to connect my nokia n900 to my pc that runs windows 7. I am using usb cable that came with the phone. I get an error messege on the computer when using mass storage mode that says "failed to install device driver'. I downloaded PC suite and tried PC suite mode. I got an error message saying "your phone is in file transfer mode. quit file tranfer mode to proceed" how do I quit file transfer mode?
i cant sync my new N900 with the nokia ovi suite.i wanna know what can i do with that... the ovi suite give the next advice: " Unfortunately your device is not supported by nokia ovi suite" and i reed in the page that problem has been fixed.. but.why the suit show me that?
Trying to get my N97 to connect up to my Win 7 laptop.Every time i try and connect through OVI, when attempting to reach connection it either states "N97 not in USB pc suitemode" (here i have told the phone to automatically connect in PC Suite) there is no problem seeing the phone on the machine thats fine, the main problem is OVI.
PC Suite 7.1.4 - i cant even get this to install, i reach install step 5/6, it doesnt even try and i recieve the error " Installation operation failed - the system cannot find the file specified"
I desperatly need this to work to update the handsets firmware. to do this i need to back it up, to do that i need to use OVI or PC Suite!
I am unable to connect my E72 in PC suite mode via USB. It was working just fine earlier. The weird thing is that it works fine on Bluetooth. Other modes (Mass Storage) are working fine via USB. So USB port/wire is fine. The only thing that isn't working via USB is the PC Suite mode. I have tried selecting PC Suite mode in Settings> Connectivity> USB and also tried changing the Ask on connection option but it doesn't work. When I plugin my phone via usd, it prompts me to select the mode, if I select PC Suite it doesn't work, If I chose a mode other than PC suite, it works just fine.
I got a msg today from Nokia saying there was an update for the 5800.
But I am unable to connect the phone to the computer in pc suite mode.
I updated the software on the computer as required by the update, but then it would not recognise the connection to the phone so I cant update it.
I can connect it mass storage mode, but as soon as I connect via PC Suite the usb connection dies. I am able to connect via bluetooth, but this doesn't help as it says I need to conect via PC Suite to receive the update.
How would I be able to connect the phone to the computer via PC Suite mode to get the upgrade?
I'm having problems connecting my N900 to my PC via USB (Mass Storage mode). I've contacted Nokia support twice but haven't heard anything back. When I connect it up, a Windows pop-up from the system tray appears saying "This device will perform faster if plugged into a USB 2.0 slot". File transfers to and from the device are extremely slow.
I've checked out my motherboard, and it only has USB 2.0 slots. I tried them all anyway, and besides, my iPod and other USB devices such as data sticks connect to USB 2.0 no problem at all, using these very same ports.I've tried on a friend's computer, and without having to install anything, the phone instantly popped up, USB 2.0 mode, no problem. What's wrong with my computer? What a I missing? Any suggestions?
Installed "enhanced kernel (titan) for power users" from my install list in application manager, as part of trying to get the Mobile Hotspot app to work. I was advised to do so by some very knowledgeable N900 users on this forum. Well...long story short(er)...loading the kernel did not make mobile hotspot work, so I decided to uninstall and revert back to the factory kernel. I did so using the "uninstall" app that came with the titan kernel....the screen went blank about half way through the process,...gave me a message that "kernel couldn't be removed". Thereafter, upon rebooting the phone, the N900 just sits there and reboots, reboots, reboots now...never completing a reboot before rebooting again. Sever has informed me that someone might be able to tell me how to reboot into update mode instead of Maemo for flashing....perhaps being able to just flash the kernel instead of the whole OS,...which I'll do if necessary.
can anybody advise me if it is possible (or if there is an app) to activate Bluetooth in offline mode on the N900? This was a feature available on my old E90 and N96 models and was very useful when all you wanted to do was enjoy wireless music through (Nokia's excellent) BH-905 headphones.
I just find this serious problem, just now I am in library and I muted the phone, I've bluetooth headset connected, but the phone ring onces with incoming call, I must shutdown the phone as I can no longer trust it
I have a nokia N97 that I bought in January and now from nothing I can't connect it in my PC (windows vista home premium 32 bits) in the PC Suite mode, so I can't update the software and stuff, my N97's software is 21.2.045, and my Nokia ovi suit is the newest version.
