I have just contacted a Nokia Store to enquire as to maximising the number of Apps available to me. They advised me to pop in as they could increase the catalogues in my file manager, so increasing the number of apps available. It may be some time before I can get there, can anybody help?How long before the N900 gets free satnav like al the symbian handsets?

I received a txt message from vodafone back in june that said to restart the phone to receive updated vodafone sime menu service. I dont know if it worked because i'm not sure where the sim menu is on the n900 but i'm curious if this is what has introduced the menu options above.
I should mention at this point that when i was in the US earlier this year, i was able to stop my phone looking for a gsm signal and concentrate on wifi only. Now i can't seem to find an option to turn of gsm. When selecting the network from the phone menu, i only get Dual, 3G and GSM.i don't get the wifi option anymore, hence me asking if this operator lock has interfered with it.Has anyone else got this and if it wasn't vodaphone, what is this operator lock?
took my shiny new n900 out of my pocket only to discover the lcd is cracked. I have spoken to vodafone who say it can be repaired under warranty free of charge. do you think this is correct ?.I was not sure if accidental damage is covered. Dont want to be landed with a big bill if they repair it outside of warranty. i was only sat in a chair when lcd cracked, not dropped or fell on, i thought it was a bit tougher that this.

XM 5800, latest firmware, Maps 3 installed and working OK. I get "Error while loading catalogue for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic" whenever I start Map Loader 3. Uninstalled/reinstalled Map Loader 3 several times. Tried suggested fixes of deleting qf and cities folder then running Maps to recreate file structure. Tried it on a Windows 7 PC with PC Suite and also a Vista PC with Ovi Suite. Same error message. I am left without the ability to download any maps except over the air as I go incurring data charges. So I may as well just use Google maps! I see in the discussion groups this issue comes up for many different Nokia phones occasionally but I have never seen a solution.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi downloaded the new firmware 44.1 to my phone yesterday through NSU & did my backup restore.but for some reason I canot download from Ovi Store.After I click download in Ovi Store- the app manager opens & just says "preparing for installation" & stays there for ever.. nothng happens... I had to stop the downloads manually many times..I checked the log file in Application Manager & here is the error message.

i went on the ovi store and realized that i had to purchase the games and apps. so then i went on another site and download stuff instead, i dont really trust anyways, cos it say it might cause harm to my phone, btw, the download doesn't even work! can someone tell me how to download game and apps and store it in my phone in the correct file
and such.AND the face book app thingy in my phone doesn't work, whenever i click on it it says no internet connection, when there is, cos if i click on google, then type in facebook and log in then it works, but not directly to the facebook app originally there when i turn on the phone.
I uninstalled most of the Apps from my phone when I bought it because most of those installed were of no interest to me but now that the battery issue seems to be nearing an end for the vast majority of users I'm looking to install some more apps.In several threads apps have been recommended as useful either because they fill in a gap in the Nokia/Windows offering or are otherwise helpful. In this way I've benefited from the GPSinfo and Network setup apps.It strikes me that others are looking to find really useful free apps as well and I thought it would be helpful to pull all the recommendations together in one thread.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOdd thing I noticed last night with my n900, in that the shortcuts that I had on the desktop would no longer open the relevant app, so I could access Phone etc.When I deleted the shortcut and went to re-add it, the Phone (and Contacts, Conversation, Clock, Photos etc) all had 2 entries for shortcuts. One of which opens the app, and the other does nothing.I've now gone through and replaced each one with the one that works, but I have no idea what caused this. Have just got my w995 on orange contract and am still finding my way around it. In the menu there is a icon called App Shop and when I access it an error message "failed to download catalogue" appears whether by wifi or internet connection. I realise that the playnow website is for getting apps ,games,music etc so is this app shop function no longer in use? or do I have a problem? If this app shop icon is indeed defunct then is there a way to delete it ? I have updated all my software and also used the update phone function to check firmware and all was ok.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi realy your help in this one, now i live in Lebanon, and i'm searching for a n900, but the other day my freind told that you can't check for your balance in your phone operartor, is that true, were i live, you need to recharge your phone in before you make phone calls, send messages etc, and to see how much dollars(or what ever its called) you still have in what you have recharged, you need to press *11# and than the green button, and than a message shows up showing you your phone operator balance, is it true that that can't be done on the n900? i like it how i can overclock the n900 from 600 mhz to 1000 mhz in less than 30 sec.

i know there are apps that can alert you when an app you have selected gets a discount or goes free, but i was wondering if there a website that does this too. some apps will go free for a day or two then go back to charging.
