Whenever I snap a picture or record a video and exit the camera application, the satellite icon remains on. I have to switch the mobile on/off for it to disappear. What's weird in that is, when i use the front camera, it appears again. Do you think the GPS remains on even when exiting the camera?

my issue is as described above. The phone has (as far as I can tell) allowed me to close the call but I cannot find a way to get rid of the icon other than by turning the phone off and then on again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a customer with a Tour 9630 on Verizon Wireless. Anytime he enables the geotagging under the camera options it doesn't work. Location on setting is enabled. The camera always shows a gps symbol with a red X.

It seems that when I do something that uses the radio (refresh my Yahoo email, check/send a text message), the little satellite icon pops and flashes (im guessing its a satellite).
This always happened before, but it would eventually just go away.
Now mine just blinks for hours on end and my concern is that its draining the battery.
If you are on the Home page and you slide to the right-hand window there are four icons;The first is the "wireless" connection icon.The second is the standard 'Bluetooth' iconThe third icon looks like a satellite dish.The fourth icon is the sound control icon.

It also remains on the Message folder.I was told to remove the battery when the phone is "On" and re-insert it. The icon does disappear only to return when new messages arrive. Is there a permanent solution for this problem? This must be a software problem but no new software updates are available from RIM

View 3 Replies View RelatedGPS is working fine: Applications/Location/GPSdata/position. It finds lat/long within a couple of seconds outdoors. Strong satellites. Great. Also: Applications/Camera/settings/show GPS Info/ON. Seems like it should do the trick for geotagging. Yet with these settings, despite my N97 having strong satelites and GPS fix, I still get no geotagging data on my outdoor pictures. The field remains always blank, even whilst the GPS has a fix.

I was expecting the option of geo tagging in this new advance device as most of the other brands have but thats missing. Surprisingly when I checked on beta labs or ovi store I found Location Tagger application graduated from beta labs and gone. Any help please how I can Tag my location on photos? I checked the satellite connection and I always get the same message: no connection.First I thought that the GPS only works when there is an internet connection, although this would be very stupid. But I get the same message: no satellite connection.I actually want to use the GPS when I'm not connected to the internet. Is there a setting I missed or is this a general issue with the GPS for E71?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a little bit confused about the working of GPS enabled phones like how they work and get your exact location. I use E71 phone which has integrated phone and I have downloaded nokia maps to my phone.
My question is: My phone is directly communicating to satelite to get my location or is it going to some other GPS server or Nokia GPS server. I am very much sure that if you want to know your exact location then GPS has to contacted your device directly. But still have some confusions.
In-case of my phone is directly communicating to satelite then it should work without GPRS or internet connection on phone. But the interesting part is it doesn't.Can anyone please put some light on this and my request is do not put your thinking only reply for which you are sure and can provide some material if you have.
Can anyone give me some advice about the Satellite view (and even terrain view) of ovi maps. I've put version 3.03 (but the problem existed in the previous 3.01) on today - which currently looks nice and works better, but when I select satellite view (map displayed -> press Cogs -> press Satellite View) the map view is replaced block by block by a repeated patteren of green stripes.Is this the expected behaviour, or should I be seeing a satellite image? I have left the phone (N97) displaying the map for about an hour hoping that perhaps the map would get updated, but so far only 16kb has been downloaded.
The map was loaded onto the phone by Nokia Map Loader.The green stripes result is the same regardless of whether drive mode or walk mode is used.Am I doing anything wrong?
I just bought nokia n95 8gb, but when I wanted to use the maps it never find a satellite connection I tried every thing I even give it to the shop for fixing the issue but nothing the shop did a reprogramming but also nothing it want work so, and did nokia close them satellite or what LOL cause it's killing me and I really need it, to use maps for almost every day cause

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing the MP3Tag program on my PC, I added an album cover (from my own jpeg image) then transferred it to the N900. Worked fine. Later I wanted to change the cover so deleted the original via the the MP3Tag program and transferred to the N900, but the original image was still used by the N900 media player. I even deleted the N900 folder containing this album before re-transferring it from the PC. I also tried searching the N900 while attached to the PC in Mass Storage mode and found nothing, and I searched ALL folders, files and file types, hidden and not, on the entire device, and it was still not to be found (yes, including the localmediaart folder).So even though I deleted the original image in the MP3Tag program's metadata files and on the N900 itself, that first cover art image still remains somewhere. I do know there are some files not visible/searchable on the N900 and that must be where this image remains. I did solve the problem in a undesirable way by re-naming the album in MP3Tag, then the new art appeared on the N900.Any ideas on how to truly delete a file on the N900?

A little sound indicated that the phone was fully charge after two hours, the screen was indicating that the battery was fully charged. Removed the plug from the outlet, to my suprise...the screen remained lit up, still indicating that the battery was full. I waited for several minutes, it was still the same. So i turned it on. Then i turned it off again, put it on charge again and the poblem was the same!

Is there some way of knowing if, when I take a photo, it'll actually geotag? Sometimes when I take pictures, I see the icon when I open the camera that says geotagging is on, but then when I look at the photo (either on my computer, or on an app called 'Been There'), it has no tags, which I assume is because the GPS/wifi hadn't located me yet. Also, does the GPS use any mobile data? My plan only has data usage for my country, so I don't want to accidentally pay too much!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having two problems with Nokia Camera on my Icon. When recording a video in Nokia Camera. I have found that it isn't recording sound.When recording a video in Nokia Camera, it takes about 5 seconds after hitting the record button for it to actually start recording.
I am not sure how to replicate the issue because it has only happened a few times and it will fix itself by restarting the phone.
When it does happen it will happen every time I record a video through Nokia Camera until a reboot. I at least now figured out that if I hit record and there is a delay between it actually starting to record, then the sound will not be recorded so a restart is necessary.
I can still record through the WP camera app and audio will be recorded, but this is a huge problem for me. I have about 5 videos that I have taken in the past week that were actually pretty important that have no sound now.
I uninstalled Nokia Camera and reinstalled and it still did it. Is this a Nokia Camera bug or an Icon bug?
I am using a nokia 5230 with maps 3.03.When i click on my position inside the app it doesn't locate any satellites, the bottom where the bars are there is only one yellow flashing light.When i click a location and select drive to, it just gets stuck on waiting for GPS and the yellow light for satellites keeps blinking and im outside without any cloud cover!.
Also one more thing, i downloaded the male_us voice pack, what folder do i put it in for it to show up? i tried putting it in E:citiesmale_us and in E:citiesdiskcachemale_us and E:citiesdiskcacheviocesmale_us and none of them show up in the options where you slect them.it still prompts me to download them.i don't have a data plan and this phone doesn't support WIFI.
