I've a Nokia E55 with Maps 3.04. Up until a few days ago, when I used Maps I had a nice small bar in the lower right corner showing satellite reception, and also a small bar showing data transfer. Now I just have the data transfer bar and the satellite status bar is gone.

I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Can anyone give me some advice about the Satellite view (and even terrain view) of ovi maps. I've put version 3.03 (but the problem existed in the previous 3.01) on today - which currently looks nice and works better, but when I select satellite view (map displayed -> press Cogs -> press Satellite View) the map view is replaced block by block by a repeated patteren of green stripes.Is this the expected behaviour, or should I be seeing a satellite image? I have left the phone (N97) displaying the map for about an hour hoping that perhaps the map would get updated, but so far only 16kb has been downloaded.
The map was loaded onto the phone by Nokia Map Loader.The green stripes result is the same regardless of whether drive mode or walk mode is used.Am I doing anything wrong?
can i see satellite maps in offline mode? like i would see the trees, houses, buildings etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia 5230 with maps 3.03.When i click on my position inside the app it doesn't locate any satellites, the bottom where the bars are there is only one yellow flashing light.When i click a location and select drive to, it just gets stuck on waiting for GPS and the yellow light for satellites keeps blinking and im outside without any cloud cover!.
Also one more thing, i downloaded the male_us voice pack, what folder do i put it in for it to show up? i tried putting it in E:citiesmale_us and in E:citiesdiskcachemale_us and E:citiesdiskcacheviocesmale_us and none of them show up in the options where you slect them.it still prompts me to download them.i don't have a data plan and this phone doesn't support WIFI.
BB Maps can't find satellite when Google Maps can update location easy. I can't send my location to BBM either. I turn all GPS on.

With the trial I had with 3.0.1 I was able to use Maps and it's history. When I clicked to travel by car, set destination, I was able to select 'History' there. The strange thing is, since I upgrade to 3.0.3 / FW40 (latest free version) the 'History' option was gone. Only Search and From maps are still available. I did a lot of navigation since the installation but the 'History' button did not came back. At first I thought it was something with the software but I did a Hard-Reset (Camera+Green+Red) and did an update using SW-update. Still the same. I formatted my microSD card just before I did the reset just to make sure it wasn't the data on the card. I also downloaded the Europe maps for offline instalation but this does not resolve the issue. Any ideas? I could not find an answer on the internet. History accessible after upgrade from FW v31 to v40. Why is it gone on my Nokia 5800 Express Music (FW 40.005)?

I installed the nokia suite in my pc and check for software updates and it is up to date. I already tried factory reset, but nothing, still the same. Is it possible to restore the missing icon?

It's possible to complete in online mode missing information, but found errors in France, Germany, Czech ( between Prague and Olomouc). Also my country Estonia is missing much detailed area data. Is it only N9 problem or are getting maps updated soon?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNokia,been using Maps on a Lumia 820 for two weeks now, and while the touch interface is of course a huge step forward from my previous E52, there are several (I believe essential) features that are strangely and desperately missing:The basic map view is fixed to "north up" and doesn't show any indicator of the direction the device is pointing to. The E52 had both a compass indicator and an option to rotate the map according to the device's orientation. I find map orientation essential in "pedestrian mode", especially when you're in an unknown place. While we're at map indicators: when zooming, either with the pinch and zoom gestures or with the optional +/- buttons, the map does not show a scale or ruler which the E52 also did.Both offline maps and microSD card support are unique characteristics of Nokia Maps and the Lumia 820. However, storing downloaded maps (probably the biggest data chunks on your phone) on the microSD card is not supported. You really have to the store your offline maps the phone's internal memory?When you open your list of placemarks (or favourites), that list is sorted alphabetically. With more than a few placemarks (I have well over 500, collected over many years) that's almost useless, because you see named locations scattered all over the world when you're really looking for the name of that restaurant you visited somewhere nearby some time ago. On the E52 the favorites list was of course sorted by the distance from the currently displayed map area (or the current location), which is so much more useful.

I have a Nokia 5800 which I use as my Sat Nav and MP3 player. I have just updated the maps and voice guidance files but there are no voice guidance files on the phone. When I select 'Drive Guidance' or 'Walk Guidance', I have no voices to choose from it just dsya 'NONE'.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI've looked all over the web, my instruction manual, the index inside the phone, and in still cannot find the meaning of this symbol in the middle of my battery bar. From what I've seen on the internet, its as almost as if it does not exist. I would probably believe so if it was not for the fact that I am staring at it right now as I type this. I have had problems with the USB port on it before and I am pretty sure that has something to do with it. Also when Its plugged into the computer and the port and USB are finally working in unison, the computer says that it is malfunctioned.

I checked the satellite connection and I always get the same message: no connection.First I thought that the GPS only works when there is an internet connection, although this would be very stupid. My question is: My phone is directly communicating to satelite to get my location or is it going to some other GPS server or Nokia GPS server. I am very much sure that if you want to know your exact location then GPS has to contacted your device directly. But still have some confusions.
In-case of my phone is directly communicating to satelite then it should work without GPRS or internet connection on phone. But the interesting part is it doesn't.Can anyone please put some light on this and my request is do not put your thinking only reply for which you are sure and can provide some material if you have.

What's weird in that is, when i use the front camera, it appears again. Do you think the GPS remains on even when exiting the camera?

Before i was using E72 it was taking around 1-2 min to connect,, but with my new E6 it takes more than 15 to 20 minutes to connect! Is it normal to take this long time?
