Nokia :: 5800 Ovi Maps 3.03 Missing Weather / Events / Lonely Plan
Feb 3, 2010
I finally was able to upgrade to Ovi Maps 3.03 but I don't have any way to access local weather, nearby events, and the travel guides. Does anyone know how I can get these on my device? Currently the icons I do have are: My position, Find places, Share location, Favorites, Drive, and Walk.
My device is a 5800 Navigation Edition V31.2.101 RM-428
I have a Nokia 5800 which I use as my Sat Nav and MP3 player. I have just updated the maps and voice guidance files but there are no voice guidance files on the phone. When I select 'Drive Guidance' or 'Walk Guidance', I have no voices to choose from it just dsya 'NONE'.
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps: 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture? 2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this? 3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
A question on "route planning": If I want to drive/walk from point A to C via B, using Maps 3.03 (on an E52), how is that accomplished? Note: with the phone alone, without syncing with Ovi Maps.If "A" is my current destination, it's easy to set "C" (set destination) and be on the road right away. But, if I want to add a new route point "B", I only get the option to add a "category" close by and NOT a favorite or a location by search or history. Actually, pretty useless, if you plan to drive from Paris to Berlin via Amsterdam, to mention one theoretical example.I have noted that many people look for this, however, I found no good answers. If not available in Maps 3.03,any inkling if/when this may be added? The simple answer is, of course, to plan two routes rather than one "via" route.
Can anyone help.... Nokia 5800 with latest firmware v40.. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take. Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have nokia 5800 XM with recent firmware version. Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working
I am very disappointed to know that my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic doesn't support TV-Out feature. I have been using Nokia handsets for last 5-7 years, because I like the compatibility & reliability of Nokia phones. But this time Nokia has really disappointed me. I have bought Nokia 5800 XpressMusic on 14th-August-2009 of 16000 INR. I have bought it for that particular feature. But i havn't found any TV-Out cable in the box or such feature in the handset. I have also connected TV-Out cable of Nokia N-95 with it, but its not working. I hope, Nokia will sure make a positive solution for that devices, manufactured without this feature in August-2009 & give the relief to all its owners like me, by replacing it with new one having this feature.
I have a Nokia 5800xm, I use ovi maps mostly off-line but every time I search or turn ovi maps on it keeps asking me for a connection?can someone please help me, its very annoying
I have just purchase a 5800 phone. I have done all of the updates and it has Maps 3.0. When I try to navigate (Drive) it keeps coming up and asking me to Activate License - says that I have used 0/100 days.
The GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked. Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?
Just installed the free ovi maps on my 5800. The maps are out of date. My estate was built in 2001 and doesn't show on the maps. I also have Google maps on my 5800 and maps and photo of my estate are there. Even my 3 year old navman in-car shows my estate. Mmmm free and oout of date. I'll stick to Google maps.
I updated my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic firmware to the latest version yesterday and I also installed the latest Ovi maps through Ovi Suite and everything installed successfully. However, when I go to maps on my phone, the GPS and satellites are working fine, but I can not see any maps appearing on my phone - just a grey/pale green background appears instead of the maps. Only if I zoom all the way out, then the world globe starts to appear, and then disappears as I try to zoom back in.
Last week iīve successfully updated my n5800xpress music with the latest fw 40.000.05 through NSU. Now i need some help with Ovi maps. So far i see there is a map on my device. It based on v3.01 09 and map ver 0.1.22.103. In order to use free Ovi maps so i need Ovi maps ver 3.03. These are some of my questions. 1.How to update my old Ovi maps to the new ver 3.03 through PC? 2.As iīve read some of the thread regarding Ovi mapsthat in some case i maybe have to uninstall the old version. But when i check it through Application manager i couldnīt find neither ovi maps or nokia map but there is an Ovi store client in there. 3.Off topic. I wonder why when i start my fone sometimes some of the pictures in the contacts bar is not really in phocus? any suggestion?
I have 5800 XM with firmware v50.0.005 and ovi maps v3 But whenever i try opening ovi maps it opens and closes automaticaly within 3seconds I have uninstaled the ovi maps and instald it again,i have also restored my phone to factory settings and then updatd my firmware and ovi maps But the problem with the OVI maps not working continues Does anyone else face the same problem Can someone help me find a solution?
there are few things that should be better, for instance I can't use Ovi Suite as it doesn't support synch with Lotus Notes yet, so I still use PC Suite. Now I'm becoming crazy and maybe someone can give me some explanation. I tried to download the maps with the Map Loader, I can see on the left part of the window a lot of maps, but I do not se any info on which map is already installed ! Is it normal? And moreover, I'm not convinced by the amount of memory left on my SD card, the map loader show an amount and Windows a competely different.. who's lying?
I have a nokia 5800 version 31.0.101 when I go to OVI maps no map is loaded the GPS works but the maps do not its all green, I can zoom out and see the world but if I zoom in there's nothing, it was working for my local area but I could not search or see anywhere else, I traveled 100 miles yesterday from where I lived but the map never loaded when I got there either.Today I have reinstalled the latest maps, (over written) that didn't work in fact I lost the local area now too. I then did a hard reset still no maps ,I installed the navigation maps from OVI. it updated the options to navigation but still no maps, so I am now at a loss I hope someone can help
I have the latest firmware installed on my phone and i also have the latest version of ovi maps installed. But it does not want to connect online.I have both free wap with o2 and also have wireless connections available at both home and work.but it will not connect, everytime i try it says there is a problem connection not working or something to that effect.i have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, but still it wont work.
After the upgrade to Lollipop, the weather on the lockscreen is gone. Have tried turning it on and off and many reboots, but can't get it to come back. Seems more people are having trouble with NOT being able to get rid of it.
I have firmware ver 31.0.101 and I had OVI maps with navigation which worked for a couple of time then the GPS would not lock on even when I was outside with no obstructions and a friends 5800 locked on with no problem, yesterday I hard reset the phone and the GPS worked fine but I had to reinstall OVI maps and we are back to the GPS not locking on.
I'm occasionally "on the road". I have a Nokia 5800 so can connect it directly to the internet via WiFi but how do I download the Nokia map for wherever I find myself? I don''t have Ovi Suite on my employer's laptop
I was very disappointed with the new version of ovi maps (with free voice guided navigation) due to the fact than the new version did not turn the map in the direction of travel. It turns while a route search is made, but not otherwise. Its was a cool feature which was available in ovi maps 3.0. In 3D mode this was really cool. I wonder why nokia scrapped this useful feature. Anyone had similar issues ?I own Nokia 5800XM, v40.0.005.
I have updated my 5800 and downloaded maps. I have installed uk maps on the phone but I have no voice guidance. In the settings menu under drive guidance it states 'none' but when I select download nothing happens. Can I get voice guidance online and transfer it to the phone. Also why did the maps software not come with it when I remember selecting english as an option in the install process when I used my computer to install it on the phone.
I have a Nokia 5800 XM and am trying to update to the latest version of maps. I go to Ovi store and select the download but it only offers me the opotion of LAUNCH or SEND TO FRIEND. if i select launch it says File Not Found
I just received my new Nokia 5800 from T-Mobile. The firmware is ok for me to install the free maps software 3.03
However, before I try to install the new software, I read on here that it is a good idea to uninstall old versions of nokia maps/ovi maps. The phone has Ovi maps 3.01 installed but when I go to the Application manager, ovi maps is not listed?Does anyone know how I can uninstall the old version?
