I have updated my 5800 and downloaded maps. I have installed uk maps on the phone but I have no voice guidance. In the settings menu under drive guidance it states 'none' but when I select download nothing happens. Can I get voice guidance online and transfer it to the phone. Also why did the maps software not come with it when I remember selecting english as an option in the install process when I used my computer to install it on the phone.
I have a Nokia 5800 which I use as my Sat Nav and MP3 player. I have just updated the maps and voice guidance files but there are no voice guidance files on the phone. When I select 'Drive Guidance' or 'Walk Guidance', I have no voices to choose from it just dsya 'NONE'.
The voice guidance on my wife's 5800 and my E71 does not work when the phone is connected to the cars bluetooth system, I think it is supposed to come through the cars speaker system, does anyone know what to do to get this working.
I have a few questions about how to update maps and voice guidance data on my phone. I have US maps installed on my phone. Let's say they come out with an updated version of the US maps. How will Maps Loader (s/w installed on my PC) know of the update? Does the Maps Loader software on my computer automatically check for updates? I don't see any option for this. Ok, let's say somehow I get the updated maps on my computer. I understand that I need to use Maps Loader application on my PC to load the latest map data on my phone.
When I try to do that, why doesn't Maps Loader application show that I have a version installed already? When I open the Maps Loader app, it just shows what you decide to add on in the 'Selection' pane. Is there no good way of knowing what version of the country map you are loading or the version that is installed? Also, is there a way to specify a name of a contact in your contact book instead of having to type out the whole address for the contact? I have tried typing the name of the contact, but it doesn't like it.
Have a new Nokia 5230 the Maps application was working fine and now get this on the PC Ovi. Cannot find maps or voice guidance on your device. This is due to either of the following reasons:Your device does not support the Nokia Maps application. The maps and voice guidance files are corrupted Ok then went to help and deleted the files as advised.
If you see a notification in Nokia Ovi Suite Maps that your device's maps or voice guidance files may have been corrupted, switch the device's USB mode to the mass storage USB mode. Then, from your device's memory card, look for a folder named Cities and a file named qf, and delete them. After that, switch back to the PC Suite USB mode. Refer to the user guide of your device for more detailed information on selecting or changing the USB mode.
I think it would be nice if the following topics were all merged into one including this one./t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Navigation-and-Music-Player/m-p/431753/highlight /true #M9985 /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Bug-music-player-volume-disabled-when-navigating-with-maps-v3-03/m-p/612.../t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Maps-3-03-final-music-player-volume-is-muted-during-navigation/m-p/61365.../t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Ovi-Maps-3-03-incoming-call-problem/m-p/615330/highlight/true#M16876 /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Hello-does-anyone-know-how-to-answer-a-call-with-speaker-while/m-p/63738.../t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/What-happens-when-you-re-using-nav-mode-on-Ovi-Maps-and-someone/m-p/6179...I wanted adress this issue as we all complaint of the same:When using OVI Maps 3.03 we can't control the music/radio volume during navigation and during voice guidance indications (messages) the volume is dimmed but then it won't come up / increase to the previous level! Also we need a IN-APP system to answer calls and transfer them between the speakerphone and loudspeaker and also to increase and decrease call volume without altering the navigation (voice guidance) volume. The voice guidance should have a option in the menu to be interrupted during a call (and come back imediatly after it ends) or to continue playing during the call.In summary I would like the following addressed:
- Create a screen indication inside OVI Maps 3.03 of the music playing in the Music Player or the station in the Radio Player when navigating; - Mute the music or radio when a navigation indication is being given by dimming the volume, and immediatly after the indication is given, increase the volume to the orinal volume level. For close navigation indications, no music/radio volume increase should occur! - Allow changing of track (Music) / preset stations (Radio) inside the OVI Maps App during navigation; - Allow the increase of the volume of the radio or Music inside the OVI Maps during navigation (and choose the navigation volume inside options or using alphanumeric or directional buttons); - Allow answering and changing calls from speakerphone to loudspeaker from inside the OVI Maps 3.03 app, and also, call volume!
after updating Ovi Maps to final version 3.06 10wk50 with new maps 0.2.42.122 the German voice guidance with street names is broken. The voice announces i.e. to turn right in one kilometer and again to turn right now, but the announcement to turn right in about 300 meters including the street name or the highway number and direction is missing completely. Sometimes the command to turn now is also left out. I tried using the German female voice without street names as well as the UK English voice with street names - both work well without any problems.I already reinstalled Ovi Maps via Ovi Store, deleted the qf file and the cities folder on the mass memory and re-downloaded the map and voice files, I resetted the phone via *#7370# and reinstalled the actual firmware (013.016) via Ovi Suite without success.
My E72 is navigating fine with turn-by-turn voice instructions with spoken street names and street-level views of cities on the several continents from maps I had previously downloaded. All seems very fine. But Ovi Suite is giving me the bad news that it "Cannot find maps or voice guidance files on your device."
I am receiving a strange error when trying to update the maps on my N8 via PC.The error is as follows:There isn't enough space left on your computer to update your maps or voice guidance files. free up some space from the drive C: and try again. You need 17.7GB, but at the moment, you only have 22.4GB left.Unless numbers have changed in 2013 22.4GBis MORE than 17.7?p.s. also tried on different pc with 27GB free and get the same error.Nokia suite version used is 3.7.22
I live in Brazil and recently bought a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. I've installed the Ovi Maps 2.0 and download, through the nokia program the maps for Brazil and Brazilian Portuguese voice. During the "Drive"/"Walk" options in Ovi Maps, there is no voice. I don't know what to do. I've checked the updates on the phone software and map software through the computer and it says as the last version.
I downloaded and installed maps of Australia and the surfer dude voice using map loader. However my maps application did not detect any drive navigation voice. When I browsed the voices folder however it was there.i had to download another voice thru the maps application (sadly no surfer dud) in order to get voice navigation. Is there any reason for this? I am using a 5800 with v31 and im using maps v3.04. Although with both v3.03 and 3.04 the same problem was there.
I have a bluetooth car kit that mutes my car stereo. When ever the Maps app talks the stereo mutes. I would like to disable the voice so I can view directions but not have my stereo continually muted. Turning the volume to zero does not solve it. No voice is head but it still mutes the stereo. Currently my only solution is to turn my N97 bluetooth off. Is voice disable possible? Route66 has that feature. Is tired of Nokia whingers. Go to Apple, that's where you deserve to be.
The "No Voice Guidance under Bluetooth" problem seems to be well documented on this board as well as elsewhere on the web, and can be sumarize like this: In-Car bluetooth connections that work fine for phonecalls will not relay voice directions from Maps, and the phone itself stays mute. In effect, no voice directions are heard at all. The reason seems clear as well: The bluetooth standard allows for several different kinds of sound-streams for priority purposes etc. Most In-Car bluetooth devices however (including several NOKIA-ones), accept only actual phonecalls. Hence, all oher sound is muted while connected to the car. The rather obvious solution would be to have a setup-item in Ovi-Maps that forces all sound from the program to use the phones integrated speakers instead of an operative Bluetooth connection. (Use Bluetooth connection for Voice directions On/Off). However, over all the posts, NO NOKIA STAFF have responded to aknowledge the problem or comment on it's possible solution or workaround. (And I have not found any third party app that adresses the issue.)One might speculate that the reason would be the design of the operating system, choosing to handle all sound in a similar way, which undoubtedly is a good thing ... in most cases, but in this case dissalows usage of the free navigation in the one situation it is of the highest value - IN THE CAR. NOW - as FREE NAVIGATION becomes a major selling point and the aplication can't work in a modern car while maintaining legal phone connectivity, NOKIA needs to accept this reality, and make Ovi-maps useable for these users as well - even if that means defying a design principle. An actual response from someone informed. For reference, I use version 3.03 10wk01 b05 of Ovi-maps on my NOKIA N97 mini with a factory fitted Alfa Romeo "Blue&Me" bluetooth kit, developed by Microsoft Automotive.
i installed nokia maps latest version and also i installed voice guidance through ovi suite. but it is not working when i start navigation. i tried to activate it from setting but always asks me to download it again.

Since upgrading to maps a few days ago, I was really impressed, and it's free - even though I had a paid subscription for Maps 2. Today I tried 3.03 in the car for the first time, and found something really annoying: The phone doesn't alternate between voice guidance and radio/CD like it used to, and for that matter all other nav-sat apps do. It is really annoying if you are on a 6 hour trip and the only entertainment you have is listening to the occasional direction from Maps. I there a setting I'm missing, or is this Nokia QC that didn't test the app properly again. The hands-free seems to work fine otherwise; I hope, maybe the new software upgrade broke tee Parrot<->N97 completely.
Others have complained about the older maps having a .5 second cut off waiting for the hands free to "wake up" when a new direction is being announced, obviously this problem is now solved, but I'd rather have a .5 second stutter than listening to wind noise for hours, or switching on Maps every time I enter a town/village and off again when I'm back on the long road.
Can anyone tell how to activate the voice guidance on the Nokia 5500d Sport so everytime i go to an app or even switch off the phone it will tell me what i am doing it was working until i updated the software after the update it wazn't there.
Maps 3.03 voice guidance works on my phone. However my question is when I turn on bluetooth on my phone & in car stereo system, will the voice guidance be transferred to my car speakers ? My Car system is paired with my phone and I can stream songs via bluetooth. However voice guidance does not stream to car speaker. Is it supported or am I supposed to use phone speakers only for GPS voice guidance ? Any inputs?
When I'm using my 6710 Navigator in the car for navigation & listening to the directions via the car stereo (Bluetooth connection). About the first 1/2 second of the directions are missing. For example instead of "Turn right" I just hear "Right". I can sort of make my way but its hard not hearing the beginning of all the guidance. If I listen via the phone's speaker the instructions are complete. I have a 2009 Hyundai Getz, so its not an old stereo & have installed the latest maps/software on the phone. My 6110 didn't have this problem.
Nokia is misleading and cheating customers proclaiming that the C7 is compatible with BH 217 for voice guidance and navigation. I spent a huge amount of money and it does not work.
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps: 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture? 2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this? 3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
Can anyone help.... Nokia 5800 with latest firmware v40.. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take. Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have nokia 5800 XM with recent firmware version. Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working
I wanted to scroll through the uploaded voices and search for some fun-voices. (My old Navi did have an add-on CD with voices from Bruce Willis, or bavarian voice, which was much fun). When trying to scroll through the existing uploads i pretty fast recognised that there is no way to find something or search for something special..... if i would for example search for Bruce Willis, i would have to scroll and scroll and scroll throught the pages until i end up at B.... and there is nothing, so now i would have to scroll to W... what i did not do.Is this the current status of the uploads, or am i doing something wrong?
I have a Nokia 5800xm, I use ovi maps mostly off-line but every time I search or turn ovi maps on it keeps asking me for a connection?can someone please help me, its very annoying
I have just purchase a 5800 phone. I have done all of the updates and it has Maps 3.0. When I try to navigate (Drive) it keeps coming up and asking me to Activate License - says that I have used 0/100 days.
The GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked. Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?
