I just bought a Nokia 900 phone today and am now trying to sync it with my computer, but no matter how many times I plug it in, it's inly response is to charge the battery. I downloaded Zune and everything, but it keeps asking to plug in my phone with the USB. I don't know what to do.
View 1 RepliesI have a Nokia Lumia 1020 (obviously) and I'm trying to upload all my photos to my computer because I have a lot and I need more space on my phone. I have a refurbished HP Elitebook 8440p that runs on an Intel i7 processor and Windows 7 (Professional, I think.)
I've tried using multiple USB cables to plug my phone into the computer, and in each of the USB ports, but the computer just doesn't recognize the phone at all- I get no message telling me it's connected and when I look at the devices connected, my phone is not one of them, but my phone does say that it's charging when plugged into the computer, so the cables and USB ports are functional. I also use the cables for charging and the USB ports for flash drives, etc, so I know they all work too.
I tried downloading "Windows Phone app for desktop" from the Windows Phone website, but when I open the app and plug in my phone, it still says "plug in your phone to see what's on it."
Just bought iPhone 4S - want to synch to office computer for Outlook contact/calendar, but my music, etc., is on home comp. Can I sync to both?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've tried literally everything. Multiple USBs and computers. Installing connectivity driver. Restart my phone and computers. When plugged in, the phone will only charge. There is no indication on the computer that a device has been connected (I checked Device Manager and it's nowhere to be found, not even under hidden items). When I plug it into my computer, it's the same as plugging it into a wall outlet. I've read tons of solutions online and tried them all. It makes me think that something has gone wrong with my phone. The issue isn't my computer's USB ports or even the USBs I've tried. It sounds like an issue with my phone. When I first purchased the phone, it was able to sync to the computer and I could transfer pictures from it.

I just got my new phone (Lumia 900) today and so far I love it! I transferred my music via Zune but when my old phone an N900 died I copied my contacts list onto my laptop. I have a folder of vCard files which I want to put on my new phone. I have connected via the USB cord but the phone doesn't appear on the list of drives etc. in windows explorer. For some reason it appears in devices and drivers, but I can't drag an drop into it. What I need is a similar thing to the sync option in Zune. To be clear this is my list of phone contact numbers only, not email etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk had major issues with Lumia 820 which I got yesterday, as I wanted to upload my contacts and ringtones and music to the phone, now reading the guide I thought this would be so straight forward, insert the USB cable and bingo should sync straight away, well the fun begins. Inserted said cable and found phone but that was it came up in explorer but couldn't see anything, well after trolling all the web sites and saying you need Net framework, Zune, this software that software, and after doing all these things still no go, so tried a different laptop with W7 and installing some more software still had same problem, so now thinking it must be the phone. Removed battery, done hard reset (Nokia for loosing my photos) still nothing, then removed Sim card still no go, then removed the the SD card and BINGO the phone would sync. So it would seem if you have a SD card inserted then the phone won't sync this as wasted hours of my time just to get this to work. Put the SD card back into my old HTC and that would sync ok. Perhaps Nokia would like to comment.

Both the lumia and the laptop have the latest versions of software etc, zune has only just been installed, and says there are no updates available, and the phone installed 2 updates when first connected, and now also says up to date.
I have previously connected the phone to a win 7 PC (but that has dieD so is in pieces currently), but I am now looking to use this Vista laptop to backup the pictures etc from the phone.I'm even using a genuine Nokia usb cable to connect it Ive rebooted both the phone and computer and the error stays the same.

View 1 Replies View Relatedok so i just got a nokia lumia 610, but everytime i try to add a new contact, i add a name and a phone number and as soon as i try to save it, it pairs it up with either facebook or hotmail (by itself), and then it says i cant it as i have choosen not to see contacts from facebook/hotmail, i would happily have my facebook contacts showing but the last thing i want is 300+ people on my phones contacts that i will never phone, or text, also if i try to show contacts from facebook, and then delete the 1's i don't want to see, it doesnt let me press delete so is there a way to connect only some contacts to facebook, so you only see the 1's your going to use and have the number of, or is there a way to delete the contacts you dont want to see from the peoples/contacts? if i cant sort this out i wont be able to use this phone,

It has over a thousand people beause it imported all my facebook, skype, google and etc. on there. So when I try to search someone or just push search the entire list of over a thousand people pop up and I dont want to look at a bunch of random facebook friends when in reality I only call about 10 people regularly on that list. I have tried to filter and it just says synching then goes back to the home screen. I have tried filtering and a few other things but it just continously says synching in the top right corner. How do I get my contacts to only be saved phone numbers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLike all I see I also bought a windows 800 on the basis that all our team of 50 would change from Iphones to windows so we could sync with our outlook which is not server based but we each run our own outlook folders but no there is no outlook sync. Yes you can copy to the live account and then use that as your main calendar but who wants to do that?
I asked and was told specifically that it would sync with outlook so the Carephone Warehouse guy either lied or did not know his stuff ( I know what my guess is!) Amazingly my wife's samsung galaxy using Android does sync.
If you can tell me how I can synchronise my windows phone with my Outlook without exporting and importing CSV and ICS files then please do so.

I tried to soft reset my Lumia 800, after I add in all my live account, gmail and facebook, I found that all my contacted that used to linked together, I need to relink them again. Is there a way that I can backup the contacts and I don't need to link them again after I reset the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn sheer frustration to try and separate my phone contact from my windows live contacts, I deleted several contacts from my Windows Phone and this has also subsequently deleted the contacts off MSN Messenger (yes I now know that they are synced).
I then logged onto the Windows Live homepage and was able to undelete the contacts but they are not re-appearing on MSN Messenger. I can see the contacts re-appear on my Windows Phone and on the Manage My Contacts page of Windows Life.
Will we ever be able to sync our credit cards and pay with our phones through the wallet app and NFC?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere seem to be no functionality to schedule the e-mail sync to be turned off at night, like you could with the old Symbian phones, for example between 23:00 and 7:00, or in weekends.
On the Lumia, you have to turn it off manually every night, alternatively turn off the sound every night. An effect of this is that the phone consumes so much battery at night that the alarm clock in the morning seldom works, as the battery is empty.
Surely Nokia / Microsoft will put out a fix to allow those of us who do not / cannot use cloud based services to sync all our appointments and data?

But it says it can't find the server settings. So, I'm having a stab at entering them manually. This is what I'm using:So my question is, are these the correct settings to use???? I can also make and receive calls, but the phonebook will not sync with the car. This is a deal breaker for me, as I've had multiple IPhone/Android phones that handle this seemingly common operation without any trouble at all.As an experiment, I paired this phone with another car, and the phone book DOES sync. What I get is a message appears on the phone asking for permission to share contacts This does not happen with my car, however.
