Does the people hub sync in the background? The feeds update only when I open the app, so I am not sure.2. Does the me hub sync in the background?3. Will removing their tiles from the start screen, will they stop syncing? Or do I have to unlink my Facebook, twitter and linked accounts completely?4. If I turn in background tasks for a program like flickr/imdb, will they sync even if they dont have live tiles on the home screen? What do they sync? I have always seen them start from scratch when I open he apps.

Got a new charger for it, had ONE full charge then had the same problems. Hard reset the other day and is now worse than ever. Last night it was charging for ages, came back to find it at 0% even though it was still merrily flashing to say it was charging, clearly it is not. Left over night to find it had died altogether, cue the usual hours and hours of trying everything to get it to come back on,heating, soft reset, hard reset, unplugging, trying various places to plug in, all usb ports etc blah to then get stuck in the infinite reboot cycle.A zillion hard resets later it finally comes on, leave it to charge a little before going through the set up, there was a small amount of charge, come back to do set up and its gone back down to 0% of its own accord.

On the other hand since Monday but battery life has changed, and even with the full battery the prediction of time (displayed on settings menu) until it becomes empty is about 16 hours, nothing more. Before that I could see a prediction of more than 40 hours, and the phone used to last that long. Now, with the same applications, etc. it decreases drastically, should i send the phone for warranty?

It might have been updating email but that shouldn't kill the battery like that. I don't use it that much during the day but it seems to go down really fast. View 19 Replies View RelatedI have the Lumia 820 with the Navigon navigation app installed. I went on a trip this past weekend and noticed a strange battery drain while driving to my destination. The drive was a little over 2 hours and I was charging the phone the whole time. I figured I would test it on the drive home. I charged the phone completely before starting the drive home. I was camping so I had to use the lighter jack in the car which is always on and charged the phone from less then 10% to 100% overnight. Again the drive was a little over 2 hours, had the Navigon app open and running the whole time and the phone was plugged into the lighter and the charging icon was registering a charge the whole time. The only other thing running was cellular data. NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, Nokia Drive, all off. When I arrived home the phone was at 45% and was very hot.
I upgraded from the Samsung Focus and using the Navigon app in the same car never ever had less power when I I ended a trip to when I started a trip. I use the Navigon app all time so this is a real issue. I am also going to post this on the Navigon website.
My Lumia 900 is getting really poor battery life and can barely last a full day with minimal use. Under moderate to heavy use the phone doesn't last more than 5 hours. I have done two hard resets already and its still the same. It appears others have the same problem.

I left it there in that state for awhile and then plugged into wall...first the bottom three buttons lit up, a white screen, then a big battery showed up with with a bit of red charge, then a nokia page and then finally an att page with the words "rethink possible".....and it shuts off and starts this loop.

I bought this phone for my son for Christmas and despite having it on charge for a few hours it still shows that there's 56% battery charge then once you unplug the charger the phone won't turn on, completely dead! Tried to check software but when I plug it into laptop it just says device unplugged, the only time I got it to recognise it it was unable to find device driver software. Must admit its completely put me off this phone before we've started, I champion Nokia all the time but wish I'd bought him an iPhone now!!

My usage is typically around this:1 hour on the phone.15 minutes of Twitter. 15 minutes of browsing on 3G. No bluetooth/ WiFi/ Internet sharing on most days. Manual brightness setting. Battery Saver on. Dark backgroundLocation settings off. Email refresh after 1 hour. XBox signed out. I can't think of anything else I can do to reduce my power consumption. I'm using the firmware version 1066.0000.8779.12201, which according to my Customer care is the latest firmware version. Nokia claims a 720 hr standby time on 3G, which I am nowhere close to.

The only disappointing thing is, when I open the diagnostic tool and it reads the Battery stats, the read "Total capacity" is not constant, its moving between 1250 mAh-1350 mAh randomly. I had turned on Nokia Drive Beta + for just a minute to check it out then didn't use it again. No more heat or battery issues until tonight when I plugged it into my computer to move some video files onto my computer through the file explorer. Phone got very hot at the top and actually started losing battery life even though it showed to be charging (plugged into my laptop). I did not have any apps running intensive processes or syncing/uploading going. I turned off background services for Nokia Drive Beta + (though I hadn't opened it since that initial opening to check it out) then I turned it off and back on and it stopped the overheating and it began to cool. But then I couldn't connect to phone or internet services even though it showed 4 bars of LTE. Turned it off and on again and everything seemed to be working fine, then it began heating up again. Just removed it from my laptop and it is now plugged into the wall charger that came in the phone box (USB). This is unacceptable for a new phone. I had been using a Black Nokia Lumia 900 for several months before upgrading and using Nokia Drive frequently.

Previously the battery was great and after full charge it usually showed battery life 1day or even longer. This Tuesday I used camera a lot. The handset did get warmer because of flash and focus assist lamp. After that night the battery darin rate became really fast. For instance, one day I noticed my battery icon was really low so I went to check the % and it said it was -4%. I was even able to make a 10 minute call and it never died on me. A few days ago I had about 70% but when I checked the phone a few minutes later it was around 10%. A few times I've even had it die on me and it never gives me the critical battery warning.This morning it was dead when I woke up so I brought my charger to work. After charging only 30 minutes it said I had 57% battery. But now 4 hours later I'm sitting at 98% and it looks like it won't go past that. Is something wrong with my battery or could the battery life indicator just be way off?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed a couple of days ago that my phones battery consumption has increased considerably, from lasting just over a day I now only get to mid-evening before it needs recharging. I have also noticed that the screen isn't turning itself off (if I press the power button once the screen does go off but often the screen does comes back on) and the password requirement isn't kicking in.
I have tried setting the screen timeout to 30 seconds and the need for a password to one minute but the phone is ignoring my setting change. I haven't installed a new app nor changed an app settings recently either. I have done a hard reset (to factory settings) but this has made no difference (I also noted that the hard reset didn't roll back any updates either - Is this right?).
I have a Lumia 900 from MTN South Africa. I am unable to get the phone charged after the battery drained out two days ago. This is a major problem that needs to be rectified by Nokia and Microsoft. It is also perplexing that the phone has to come on when it is charging and even more irritating is that to set an alarm, the phone needs to be on all night. Come on Microsoft get this right other Symbian Nokia alarms work perfectly even when the phone is switched off. I have been a faithful Nokia user for ten years. I am now considering switching to Samsung or Apple or if they merge, an Applesammy!
