At work and mobile I am usually 4G.I expect to be on 4G for a few years (5G anytime soon?) and was thinking of spending $$$ on a Wilson repeater to pick up 4G with a directional antenna and amplifier for home: url...I am a licensed Amateur Radio operator and the principals involved seemed sound to me.Also, does anyone know how to put the Bionic into Field Test Mode?

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs the title suggests, this started happening from the moment i started using the "Email" feature in my phone. Even though I have successfully removed it (I don't have a fixed data plan), while writing SMS's the "To" field switches to "abc" mode, as opposed by the normal "123" mode. And no matter how much I press the arrow button to change it, the moment I close messages and open it again, it reverts back to "abc" mode.

Not sure what the circuit boards look like when they are normal but am not afraid of a little tinkering if there is a solder I can refresh or any signs of issues or a way to test the batteries without the phones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a really weird and annoying problem with my Lumia 800.Pretty much it starts with this:The phone totally random powers off, it wont start until i put the charger in (even if the battery really is at 40% or more).After that whenever I receive a text message (sms and mms) it won't be listed in the messaging conversation. I only see the last sms I sent/got after the phone powered off, new messages is listed in the notification window, but only there. Sending new messages works, but they won't either be listed..So I can't really read my new texts other than in the notification window that pops up when I get a new one.Deleting all my messages doesn't solve it, restarting the phone doesn't either.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a red 920.So I charged my battery to 100% and took it off the charger. This was in the middle of the night (yes, I'm a night owl). But I did it because I wanted to test it with absolutely no use. So I set the wifi to always on and left the phone. four hours later I checked the battery. It was down to 60%. This was after absolutely no use. The only thing I have is two email accounts set to fetch every hour.
i then recharged to 100% again, changed the wifi settings back to the original setting and left it for another 4 hours. The battery was down to 63%. Not that much different from setting wifi to always on.However, previously my phone would lose at most 1% after idle for even 8 hours. As I stated my battery life has always been very good.the only difference was the OS update, no new apps, no setting changes, etc. I have to assume it was the update. I know it's not really scientific and partially anecdotal but it is what it is.
I have a problem in the manager application when I downloaded it displays made no application available.
View 8 Replies View Relatednav key left brings up message creation dialog... until now, it used to have 2 prompts: the top one for writing your actual message and immediately under that one, the "send to" propmt where you enter the recipient's number. however, out of the blue, the "send to" prompt is gone. i have to open the "send to" menu with the main nav key, select "number or email" for the prompt to appear
have not screwed around with any settings or the like.... it just... changed
Tried to enter the Nokia920 competition but got a "Field not valid" error on my post. there were no further instructions. I dont know what I could have possibly messed up.

The appears as when I yse synbol above the g in email and other text but NOT in the email address field when adding a new username. Also, cannot just copy and paste - the symbol disappears. View 4 Replies View RelatedProbably the best way to test the real time 3G connection on your iPhone is with a ping tool. The one I used is a free app called Network Ping Lite.Download the tool and turn off WIFI. Open it up and choose the Ping utility. Enter an ip (you can use 208.67.222.222), scroll down to turn on "Ping forever" and then hit Start.
Watch to see if you get a response and note the time in "ms". Then do whatever you think might affect the connection. If the times go up or if it stops responding you've affected the connection.
Mine will sometimes start dropping pings almost immediately after putting the lower left corner of the phone in my palm. This is what happens in the screenshot below. FWIW, this doesn't bother me, I just hold the phone a different way.
