View 13 RepliesI downloaded the new ovi maps from the nokia website and am having trouble trying to use the menus. I cant seem to find where to enter an address to navigate to without first creating a route on the map and them editing it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just loaded Nokia maps 3.01 for Nokia with upgraded firmware to 2.0 version (sic!) and I see that offline search for address always find no results. Is that because this tricky way of map load with out map loader? Or something may be wrong?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia 5230 (RM-588) with firmware 20.0.005 and Ovi Maps 3.04. Memory card is Kingston 8GB. I downloaded maps that I needed and everything is working OK from that point.
Here is the problem: I search for an address (offline), Ovi Maps finds it, I rename it and save it to Favourites. I repeat that with some other addresses. Then I turn off the Ovi Maps and navigation and after I start it again, my folder Favourites - Places is empty. Any idea why the Favourites are not saved ?
First off, let me apologize in advance if what I'm about to ask has already been answered (I did a search, but I didn't find anything helpful)OK, so I got a new shiny N95, updated firmware to 31.0.015, installed OVI maps 3.0, so on and so forth. The phone works fine, but I'm having some problems with the maps.
Whenever I try to search for an address I get a (very) brief "searching online" progress bar, but every time I get "no results found", regardless if I'm searching for a full address or just a city.
Map software is able to save current positon. But it is not precise. How do I enter my home address so that it gives right directions. I can create collections. What is exactly collection for?

View 4 Replies View RelatedCould someone tell me exactly what is the current status of GPS on the N900? As I understand you can see where you are but there is no voice guidance. Is it possible to enter a destination address and have the phone guide you walking? Out of interest will the N900 ever be able to support video conferencing or is there a hardware problem? Thanks, Ian.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was previously using E71 and recently switched to 5230 touch screen phone. One thing that i really find it difficult is to find contact in address book. The search function bring up entire A-Z keys in 2 pages so flipping through the character set is little annoying... further as u type.the key set narrows (good feature) but then u have to look hard for the next key as the position has changed.I wonder if the search functionality similar to N72 (t9) is implemented here so that all the keys are visibile on single screen...(in home screen the dialer is the best place to implement. as u type the character the address books gets filtered)..
The character set flipping and changing position every time takes lots of effort.i would rather like to use a fix character set (the standard number+abc keypad) on same screen and see the adress get filter insted of flipping pages and trying to see where the next char is.
May i request the moderator to pass this message to 5230 team so that they might consider this a new feature request and we might get this feature in next Firmware release.
I bought a used Nokia E52 with a hope to have maps in the pocket and GPS.After certain struggle I managed to install all maps and it seems to be working. However When I search for a street address, unless there is something on this street (in locations database.. like parking, hotel or restaurant), it doesn't fidn it at all.I looked at many forums, but I can't figure out if it's a bug or a feature. Can one just type a street address in OVI maps (let's say "Rue Saint-Bon, Paris"..or "6 Rue Saint-Bon, Paris") and expect it to find it. It seems the most basic and most important feature of GPS navigation - to find street address. But it just doesnt' work!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my new Nokia 5230. The offline search does not work in OVI Maps. I installed the newest version 3.03 and uploaded the maps of my country (the Netherlands) to the phone. I am able to pick a direction while using the map itself but when i enter an address in the search bar it give the error: no offline results found.Maps is in offline modus because of my subscription without internet.tried entering just the streetname, streetname and city, streetname city and country, different streets.
View 16 Replies View RelatedYou really should be able to input stuff like "corner of x and y street", and also be able to drag route points on the screen on the web version. It's actually quite hard to use to find what you want sometimes.
View 6 Replies View Relatedso I have the maps loaded onto my phone, but when I use the Directions (like sat nav) mode it quits after 30 secs with the message 'Enter Shop' or something like that? I am using the service offline - if that makes any difference?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI think I have broken Ovi Maps search. The problem happened when I chose to clear device. Settings ->task manager -> clear device
Ovi maps then failed to return any kind of search results even as general as Stuttgart to as precise as street names. I then proceeded to reflash to PR1.2 using flasher 3.5.exe and reflashed the vanilla eMMC as found in maemo dev repository. The problem persists. Even after loading some maps using the Map Loader, the problem persists. I think I have cleared some indexing capability of the device.
Maps (v3.09) on a nokia C7 worked fine until the last couple of weeks. Startup and positioning are OK. When I try to search for a destination though, the application crashes. Repeatedly. I can't think of anything I did lately (settings changes or new installs) that might have caused this. On the older threads regarding this issue, the best solution seemed to be updating the suite.
View 1 Replies View RelatedManaged to get all my old 120 favorites on N8 syncd to Nokia maps from [URL] Now, how do I search within the favorites? It just lists them in alphabetical order and no option to sort or search. If I display the favs on maps it is very slow and names do not appear?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I search for a place by coordinates in Nokia maps? I have the latest version 2.5. The customer support says there multiple formats to use like:N59.4071 E17.778259,4071 17,7782But neither of this works for me. The first one gives "No result found", the second one gives a hit on the street Carrera 59 in Colombia, on the other side of the earth.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThank you Nokia for making maps free. We really love you for that. But I've already found the first serious bug. Even if you have downloaded maps to the phone (N97 mini), you can't search for addresse and places in offline mode. The old version could that.If you browse with your finger and browse through places, you will find everthing, but when searching freetext for places and addresses in offline mode, no result are shown.Guess Nokia will have to fix this soon. The workaround is of course to use online mode.
View 19 Replies View Relatedthis may have been covered already but I'm new here (is that an excuse?).I can't get any search results with ovi maps on or offline, constantly say `No Results Found'. By manually searching the map I can then start navigation that but not by searching. At the moment I am reinstalling he maps via the map loader to see if that works.

When i turn on nokia maps on my 5800 it defaults to an old address. how can i update this to a new address.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI came across the following problems whilst trying to update an address in my favourites list:
*Editing the address does not change the position of the place - i.e. I now have an entry that shows all the correct info for one location, but is actually pointing somewhere completely different! I edited my entry from the Homescreen search (which seems to take you through to Location>landmarks.
*In Maps, I can't move a place to the right collection (organise collections) There is no scroll bar so I can only access the first few collections!!!
*Trying to get around this using Ovi Maps on PC fails too - After selecting the right collection to move it to, the message "cannot connect to remote server" comes up. There is no problem connecting to the server for any other functions, but for this one it is persistent.
I then went on to plan a route:
*Using Search in Maps does not include (or allow you to select) results from your own favourites or history!
*When adding a route point you don't have access to your collections (only a raw list of favourite places)
*After clicking "Start driving" in a route, you can no longer access favourite places or history at all!
Our hotmail address is too long to enter in the space provided?

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen i tap the address bar to type a new search or even tap the X to stop uploading a page, it sometimes just not responding or doing anything, and after a few taps, it finally "agrees" to go into "writing mode", or stop uploading..
And while i'm at it, i tried a few browsers, but most of them were not as fast as the Chrome so ATM i decided to stick with it. Anyway, i was wondering if there's a good browser that lets you swipe left to go back, as in the IOS7 Safari? (instead of using the back softkey) it's also a bit weird that in order to go back pages when the phone is in horizontal view, my only option is to tap the back softkey, which is now placed on the right bottom side of the screen.. not very smart or comfortable.
I have over 1K contacts and sometimes I would like to search by the ADDRESS field in my contact database and I can't figure out how to do that!?!?Example: John Smith lives on MAIN st. - If I enter "MAIN" in the search function, and check on contacts, John Smith DOES NOT come up. need to figure out how to do this, or a work around, or a 3rd party app if one is available.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA month ago my 8310 Curve, v. 4.5.0.55 (Platform 2.7.0.68) service provider O2, stopped being able to search and find Contacts unless I had added them after that date. These newer Contacts have not been folded into the original Address Book, but are all in a new and alphabetised list at the end of the original Contacts list. There are no Categories assigned, no Network sync, and Content is not protected. The Contacts are in the phone, not on the SIM.
Before this, I could type in to the Address Book or the phone the first 2-3 letters of someone's name and it would take me to that contact - now it says there's no such person. So I have to scroll through the entire address book to get to who I want, and then I can call/SMS etc.
