Nokia :: E72 Wont Reset - Phone Asks To "end All Active Calls And Connections First" However There Is Nothing Connected
Apr 23, 2010
I have had my E72 for about 6 weeks and have been very happy with the performance. The last couple of days it's phone clarity has deteriorated so I had tried to reset to factory settings. Each time I get into factory settings and try to get into it the phone asks me to 'end all active calls and connections first' however there is nothing running or connected. I turned the phone off and took out the battery and tried again - this time I was able to put in the code but then it came back as the previous request and wouldn't allow me to go any further.
As I understand (at least is what the user's guide describes), the N97 connects to WiFi via 802.11b/g...Anyone knows if there is a way to connect the phone via 5Ghz WiFi connections?I have too much equipment in my house using the 2.4Ghz channels (bluetooth, PS2 controllers, etc), and I'm using a WiFi router in 802.11a/n with 5Ghz range to lower the interference.
Every time I try to call a number (LAN LINE) that has a block on unidentified callers, I get the message "The number you are calling does not accept unidentified calls please enter your 10 digit phone number" The funny thing is that this problem just started to happen. A week ago it was fine. When I do call a number that is not blocked, my number comes up correctly on the caller ID but shows as unidentified. Sometimes, it shows up as international. Now, funny thing is that if I put my SIM in my Pearl, I can make calls no problem. There are two settings on the Bold under general options. One is called "Restrict My Identity" In this case, I have have it set to NEVER. I have also tried NETWORK DETERMINED, but neither of them make difference. The other setting is called "Show My Number" and this is set to YES.I have talked to AT&T until I am blue in the face. They say it is a problem with the phone and that it needs to be replaced. I hardly believe that. I have a friend with the same phone and it has the same problem.I did see some threads on this before in other forums, but never did see an answer to the problem.Finding a solution would be very nice.Already tried doing a factory reset and a security wipe on the phone.
I've got Googe maps, BTC Mapper, and Endomondo on my phone. They all use GPS to track you, plot where you have been, and save tracks for you to chek out later. They work nice. I use them a lot for walking, running, and bicycling. My question though, is the GPS actually using the GPS satellites in orbit, or is it using triangulation off several cell towers to get my location? If it is using GPS satellites, why is it that if I turn off all connections (Mobile Network Sprint & Wi-Fi), I lose all GPS connections as well? If this device is atually getting signals from the satellites, what difference does it make if I am in a cell coverage area or not?I've read that, yes, the location is retrieved from the satellites, but to plot it on the maps takes the cell connection. If that is the case, is there an app that just logs longitude and latitude every second and stores it in a file that can be dumped to a map at a later time?
The reason I bring all this up is because, later this summer, I plan to go on a 2-week long cruise that will visit about a dozen different Carribean islands and I'd like to track my location. At sea, I won't be able to pick up a cell signal. Will the GPS tracking apps like google, still work? Even if I can't get a cell signal, my GPS should still be able to pick up satellite signals
Since the 5.5.1 update that I made yesterday, my Xperia Z2 is not asking for the PIN number anymore, so I can't send messages, make calls etc.. I removed the SIM then replaced it, but it's not working.
Plus, when I go to the settings / security, I can access to my SIM settings, but it's "in grey", I can't clic on it.
Detailed log of re-occurin issue:I purchased the nokia 5530 in december 2009.In late march 2010, I added a screen protector to the phone.I also upgraded to the 2.0 firmware. Then in April 2010, phone started to switch of when making a call or answering a receiving call. After googling like crazy, removed the screen protector, reset the phone using the codes from this site. Phone worked for 2 weeks no problems. After the 2 weeks it happened again, I repeated the process and it stopped switching off. The screen protector was never replaced thinking it might be blocking the proximity sensor. In late may I updated to new firmware 3.0. Phone was functioning normal at this time. Now it's june and problem started re occuring since the 10th of june.I am unable to answer or make calls with this phone despite my many attempts using reset and factory reset , removing memory card and switching sim with a new sim card etc.So far, the only way it works is with the headset plugged in, but this is a temporary fix. Once the headset is removed during the call it switches off. Also it also crashes when making skype calls which i also installed in may. I used skype for most of may and june, with no problems. My sister also purchased the same phone at the same time, from the same vendor. She never updated the firmware and also has a screen protector installed. Her phone has no problems whats so ever.
When disconnecting an active call, the phone does not disconnect. It stays connected for another 5~ 10 seconds and need to press the disconnect button few times to come out of the call. Has anybody gone through this and is there a solution?
After i updated my iphone it askes me "please insert suported sim that comes with the phone'' but i don't have the sim card that comes with this phone.
It started randomly. i can still browse the internet but i cant call anyone and i cant sed or recieve text messages.ive tried a factory reset but i still gave the same problem.
Never had problems with Nokia in the past, and after happily purchasing a Nokia X6-00 16GB in the month of March of this year, my thoughts on Nokia only reinforced WHY i've always gone with Nokia.
Now, i purchased the phone when i was living in England, i moved back to Cyprus in April shortly after the purchase and got the phone unlocked, put in a Cypriot Sim card with CytaMobile. Everything was just great.
This past month as been slightly less of a joy though, out of no fault of my own, the phone seems to stop recieving and making calls, all calls get diverted to my answer phone, and to solve this problem i have had to turn the phone off, then back on again. Problem solved.
That was until this morning. I can still recieve texts but if someone attempts to call me, they are greeted with a 'beep' and then the phone call ends on their end.
For me i am greeted with deadly silence, then a little notification saying 'No Answer'.
I have restarted the phone;
Restored Factory Settings'
Upgraded to the latest firmware it will let me, being v20;
Still no luck, i am hoping it is not an internal problem with the phone, as in Cyprus as far as 'Offical' nokia care points are non-existant. The SIM card is on a contract, so if my phone had been cut off, so would my messaging and my internet which are all still in-use, and work just fine without problems.
On another note, if you are unable to find a cause for that problem, maybe you can give me a quick reasoning on why the phone shuts itself off when i choose the facebook application on occasions. Again only over the past month has this been happening.
I got my phone on friday last week and since the it restarted every morning at random time. It turns off and back on, I didn't loose any files, but the sim card is blocked and people can't call me then. I have the newest software, use the original charger, battery etc. Phone turns off without any massage, vibration or else, when it turns on I get the default starting screen and the phone asks me for pin and works normally afterwards.
I've just bought a Storm 2 and I am not happy at all.I thought Blackberry would market & sell a product after have been well tested and ready to go.My Storm2 does not have anything installed just the stuff which came with the smartphone. By other way, my Blackberry does not have any service running: Email, Internet, any other apps. I just have been used to call and get incoming calls and to synchronize with Outlook.
1. The problem 1. is that very often my calls (in or out) are interrupted. I loose the signal, with no one other advise or signal. Suddenly I don't hear anything anymore.
2. The problem 2. is that during calls I often get OS restart. Suddenly during a voice comm the phone turns off and restart. When it turns on again, alone, he gives the following message: "Uncaught Exception: Missing Resource Net.Rim.Device.Apps.Internal.Bis.Resource.BISClient"
Frequently - typically once a day - I synchronize the Storm 2 and consequently get it online updated. This is stopping me to use my new phone. Keep using my old iPhone and start thinking that using Desire or iPhone would be much better.
I tried to make a call while wi-fi was on and connected, it wouldn't go through. likewise, when someone tried to call me when wi-fi was on, they went straight to voicemail. i tested it when i got home and same thing...wi-fi on, no voice. wi-fi off, voice calls work just fine.the only think i can think of is that i have skype installed but not logged in yet, so maybe it's trying to make calls that way? i'm going to be kinda bummed if i have to turn off wi-fi to use the phone.
Having problems with my Xperia Ray connecting to my Jawbone. It shows it connected, and the jawbone even beeps when calls are ended. The problem is all of the phone audio is routed through the phone and not the Bluetooth.
It seems as if I press the screen, it touches some of the keys at the qwerty keyboard. This wakes the phone from key lock and starts the emergency call screen. This is becoming quite a problem as I can't have the phone in my pocket for more then a few minutes before I hear the dialing sound (the sound when pressing a 0-9 key)I'm hoping there's a way to turn off this function (emergency dialing), especially when keys are locked.Does anyone have the same issue? Perhaps some update or android programming can help me?
Having problems when i talk i the phone. After 3 to 15 minutes my phone locks itself and sets the reciving signal to zero. After 10 more seconds its wake to life and i can call again but it will disconnect again.
just started to use this phone again, i receive texts no problem, however when i try to send one it asks me to enter the message centre number? I am using the phone based in the UK - anyone know what number i should put in ?
I set up a Gmail mailbox on my N86 phone using e-mail wizard (IMAP). It works fine in connecting to the Gmail, and send/receive e-mails. But my problem is with automatic retrieval; every time it wants to check my mailbox, it asks me to choose access point. That means automatically retrieval acts just like manual retrieval because if I am not there when it is trying to retrieve e-mails, it won't connect, so when I come to my phone, I just see a "Select connection" box giving me three options:
Search for WLAN Internet WAP services. My phone settings regarding to Access Point and Email configuration are as below:
Settings > Connection > Packet Data > Packet Data Connection > When Available Settings > Connection > Destinations > Internet > 1 access point (default destination)
My access point setting says "Use access point = Automatically" E-mail settings > Global settings : there is no configuration for access point or connection. The available options in this page: 1- Message list layout 2- Body text preview 3- Title dividers 4- Download notifications
E-mail settings > Mailbox settings: Mailbox settings > My email address Mailbox name. My name Signature Advanced mailbox settings. What to sync > Retrieve less than 2 KB Emails to retrieve IMAP4 folder path Folder subscriptions. When to sync > Connection daysConnection hoursUpdate intervalRetrieve when abroad.
I listed my available settings because I noticed different options in different tutorials. Even my phone's manual has some different options than my phone. I didn't list WLAN options because I don't have any WLAN network. So to make it short, I want my phone to retrieve e-mails from my GMail account automatically, without asking me about connection and access point each time. BTW, my phone's web browser works fine, and makes connection when needed without asking me about the access point to use. I hope someone can suggest me a solution because I like this e-mail application in my new phone, but it is strange to me that it cannot use the default access point and always needs to ask me.
I've paired my 5233 via Bluetooth to both home and work Macs (G4 & Intel). File browsing and transfer via Bluetooth File Exchange works flawlessy on both. However, when I connect to the other Mac, even while it's already on favorites and it shows on the list, the phone asks for the passkey, as does the Mac. After this I can connect and disconnect as many times as I want from that Mac, no passkey needed anymore. However, if I now connect to the other Mac, it again asks for passkey, so I have to key it on both phone and Mac. Again, I can connect and reconnect from that one without need for passkey... until I go to the other Mac, it again asks for it.
I never try to pair the phone to the two Macs at once.
I am curious why on the 'Paired Devices' list on the Bluetooth menu on the phone there is only *one* device, the computer, and no matter what shortname I set when connected to any one of the two Macs, theres only one, shouldn't there be 2 devices there on the list, the individual work and home machines? I've set them as 'Authorized', both on the phone and on the Macs, why does it keep asking for the passkey when I change from one machine to the other?
I got my N9 yesterday and couldn't quite find info on how to install the Opera web browser, so i decided to enable "developer mode" in settings. That didn't help, so i decided to reboot the phone. When starting it up again, it now asks me for a security code. A code which i don't recall setting, and can't find any info on the internet about.
Note: I have previously set my PIN-code to 0000 and then disabled the pin code check, so it's NOT the pin code that's the problem. Also tried to insert my PUK-code, but that didn't help either.
After losing network connection blackberry pearl flip keeps restarting...i turned off all the network connection and once i went to turn them back on the phone just went into reboot mode...i then have to download the OS upgrade in order for my phone 2 come back on...but once i do this im right back to no connection and ultimately doing the same thing over again...
When updating my E63 contacts, calendar etc. uUsing PC-Suite via Bluetooth, every update asks the phone "Accept connection request from PC?" This doesn't occur when using a cable connection but is a real nuisance when using Bluetooth. Any way of automatically accepting the connection request?
I've recently received a new samsung galaxy s6 with android 5.1.1 installed on it. first day everything went well no problems whatsoever, second day, i started to bump into some wifi issues which are now really pissing me off!
So the thing is, whenever i turn on wifi, 90% of the time, i can't find any connections. NONE! maybe after 10 minutes of leaving my phone i finally found one, and it isn't even my home connection.. I've been connected to my home wifi. And when i finally am connected the internet is so slow, i'd rather go back to my windows 98 pc and search via internet explorer, make the pc crash 5 times and still load the page faster than my cellphone.
My phone stays always connected to the WLAN network wherever available say at my home, at office. When i go to WLAN Wizards and disconnect it. It again get reconnected automatically. Even if I remove all the known connection, it keeps popping up the select WLAN network page. I have no clue why is it happening? can anyone tell me what is the reason and hot to get rid of it.?
When I do *#7780# on my Nokia Flagship N97 mini it report to close all exiting connection first. How do I close all connections on the N97 Mini in order to do a *#7780# reset? Very excited about the N97 mini
I've recently bought a Nokia 700 and for few days I'm experiencing this weird problem.Every single connection drops (3G, Wi-Fi and USB. Haven't tested NFC yet) at random times and I can't reconnect. It always says after that it can't connect and the connections are unavailable. After turning the phone off and then on again, everything is back to normal. I can normally connect to the 3G connection, Wi-Fi and USB.It's pretty annoying as I always have to restart my phone in order to connect via USB or to the Internet when it happens.Anyone else who is experiencing the same problem or has any solutions to this?
I'm using windows XP, Service pack 3.Version of PC Suite installed : v7.1.60.0 I'm trying to connect my phone using bluetooth as I haven't got a USB. Laptop can find the phone and connect to it as shown in the screenshot. However, no connections are listed as available after clicking 'next' as directed.
