Nokia :: E72 Internet Access Complete Mess After Travel
May 13, 2010
I just came back from a trip. I used many different Wifi-hotspots during my journey, which kept accumulating in the internet settings. So today, I deleted all the new hotspots from my phone. Unfortunately, this action lead to a lot of problems. I already did a reset of the settings with +#7780#, but to no avail. I have SmartConnect 1.3.6 installed. Deleting and reinstalling did not change anything.
I cannot change the access point for the built-in browser any more. When I select it, nothing happens. Before the reset it had now connection at all, now it is fixed to my mobile network providers internet access point (GPRS/3G).In internet settings (Menu -> Ctrl. Panel-> Settings-> Connection -> Destinations) there is now an empty destination group without a name, and it can not be deleted.Certain functions in internet settings do not work any more, like copying an access point to another group. The destination settings often will hang and cannot be closed any more. A restart is needed. Some applications (e.g. Podcasting) still show some of the deleted access points. Is there a to get back to normal besides doing a hard reset? Is there another way of accessing and/or deleting these settings (maybe directly in the system)?
Since the firmware of the E72 is so beta, I do not care if it is an "official" way of doing it. Any would do.
Does the 5230 have the functions to access my wireless router? It would be nice to be able to access the web and such when home to download stuff at high speed over my cable internet.
Generally on Sat Nav devices, they can be set up so that north is always up, or so that the direction of travel is up.I only seem to be able to set up Nokia Maps so that north is up. How do i get it to rotate the map as I travel so that my direction of travel is up? For info, I am using Nokia Maps on a 5800.
This is the 3rd time I connected my Nokia 5800xm in Mass Storage Mode.. and after isconnecting (thru' Safely Remove Hardware..everytime) the Folders are in a Mess. pplications are shifted from its original folders to don't ask where..(Oh!) ..I could re-organise them back without much trouble.. but why is this happening? Is there any way to stop this ?
I have a Nokia E63 on 3, it reports its symbian software version as 200.21.012. My wireless router is a Netgear DG834PN. It has a WPA2-PSK key code set up, and my laptop works fine with the wireless. It is set up to use DHCP, has MAC address filtering turned OFF. The network is public (not set to hidden). If i try to connect my nokia E63 to the wireless then when i try to access the internet, it gives an error stating ' no gateway reply'. Power Saving is disabled. I have tried setting the IP address manually and still it gives the error. I have also tried re-setting the router, to no avail. The only way i got it to work was by disabling all security on the router (making it an open network) which, whilst this is fine for testing, i do not want to run it as an open network, it must run with WPA2-PSK security.
I've got a small problem. I'm trying to access the internet on my laptop through the e63 and it doesnt work.I connect both things with a usb cable, click "Connect PC to web" then the software starts and says "Preparing your Nokia e63" and then it says "Currently there's no network available". What do I do wrong? I have unlimited internet on the phone with Three.co.uk and it works fine, but on the phone only. Please help
I am travelling abroad for a couple of weeks next month, and I know the internet data charges for roaming on my network (Virgin mobile) are horrendous, so how to I make sure that ALL internet/data/web access is turned off?anyone know ('cos I can't see how from the user manual)
nokia moderators sending me this mesgwhen i post many problems about nokia x6. They just dont knw the exact solution of problems m struglin with it from last 1 month and now this moderators moving my post to bad post
nokia x6 is full of problems "Invalid server name" is biggest problem among them while connecting to Wifi u cant access internet from any hot spot
When I choose free Wi-Fi to browse internet or download, X6 confirms the use of free service, but I still get charge from my phone carrier. It seems I can not change the 1st priority of connection. How I can able to choose which network to use?
when trying to access the Internet, any application, any type of access point: Error "connection not available". WLAN is connected but no browsing, no disconnects, WLAN disconnects just off the phone.
I am in the US. I just got an unlocked Nokia E72.I don't have data plan.I am wondering whether I can access internet through the university wireless, like my laptop? If I can, could anyone tell me how to set the wireless connection?
I have defined my WLAN as the primary internet access point. Incidentally, the E72 terms the WLAN connection point "infrastructure". My wife's E63 uses the slightly more reassuring "known". Despite the WLAN being the number 1 priority access point, when using the www application the 3G connection is launched if the applications settings are set to "automatic". If I use "always ask", oddly the WLAN internet access point does not show up in the list. The 3G connection does twice. Once as an internet access point, and with a slightly different name for a WAP connection (not sure what the point of the WAP connection is, but too scared to delete it). I can "Search for WLAN" which without fail always finds my home network, which is selectable, and can be used without problem.
There appears to be a glitch in that the defined WLAN access point is not and cannot be recognised as an automatic connection point, but is easily used when manually selected. Perhaps a WLAN setting is wrong making the automatic connection fall over? Happy to entertain any advice. The phone is completely up to date with firmware.
I got a replacement n900 and sent my setting to the device(three network) but it wont access the web,it does connect cos i see the two little arrows appear for connection, strangely my previous n900 worked fine, allso it works fine with wlan, any ideas?
I have a 5800. Occasionally, or rather frequently some times, I get a popup asking for access to internet. However, there is no mention as to what program is requiring the access. Is there any way of knowing what program (when there's none presumably running in the background) is doing this?
Been thrashing around with an E-mail prob and found this setting.
Settings/connectivity/admin settings/packet data/access point = none
I don't think its of any significance to my problem seeing as my 5800 mostly works but I would have thought that something should be there. Anything to be concerned about?
When I press web to browse the internet, it always comes up as a WAP connection. My mates got an i phone, and can browse the internet as you would on a computer. Can I do this or am I stuck with the WAP?
I have set up a WLAN access point on the phone to access the internet and email via my wireless modem/router.Problem is, once I make one internet connection, it doesn't allow me to make another or to connect to email, even after the first connection was closed.
If I delete the WLAN access point, I can access the internet and email no problem but I need to select the WLAN and enter the key first.Seems like a problem with my WLAN access point settings.
I have a Nokia C1-01.I can access web on the default home browser. But no application is able to access web.I have tried Facebook,Opera Mini,Google Maps,A Banking App but none of them have been able to acces internet.I have set each app as 'Ask First Time' for Internet access
Just got my new Nokia E6 out of the box. It does connect to my WEP+WPA2 secured WLAN, but I cannot access the Internet with it. Nor with the browser or with any other app. I can access the internet via my 3g connection (I live in a kind of rural area where no 3G is available).
Just got my Nokia N8 on Orange and am having problems with accessing the internet. I can access the net using a WLAN without any problems but can't access the internet using orange.I've been offered this advice from Orange Technical services:1. Accept the Orange Software update (sent via text) - done2. Accept Orange GPRS WAP services update - done3.Select Orange GPRS via 'desintionations' as the default access point - done4. Select it again via the browser - doneOrange has said that the above is all they can offer and is convinced my brand new handset is faulty. I'm not too sure about their diagnosis, as I'm convinced it's a configuration problem.
while setting up a new email mail box (gmail)my E72 keep asking me to select WLAN network instead of using my regular at&t internet acces.Wlan is set to <never> in the connection setup. Is any one know what is happening?it used to connect with my AT&T internet acces while setting up emails mail box.it works fine when i go online...but not while i am setting up mail box.
everytime when i try to use wifi to access internet either using browser to surf, accessing the facebook or Internet applications using wifi, the phone screen goes dim, and goes back to the main screen (the wlan is automatically off when the phone restarts).i have tried upgrading the firmware, but the problem still persist. the storekeeper says this is a phone bug, and there is nothing nokia can do.
Today my nokia e63 ran out of battery charge and as I was in town there was no way I could charge it. As I got home put my phone on charge and turned it back on, after a few minutes I decided I would send a text until I realized my phone would not let me do so. I had full signal and have tried to send a text in multiple areas around the house where I have signal. My girlfriend is on the same network as me and is having no problems at all. This all happened after my phone ran out of charge, is this a known issue? Does anybody know what might be going wrong with it?
I've just bought the 6760 slide unlocked from Vodafone. I want to use my 3 mobile sim. It's good to make calls, sms etc but won't allow me to access the internet or send mms. So I'd obviously need to change the settings but I have no idea how to do this.
I bought an unbranded 6700 classic on amazon and I tried to disable internet access completely. So in the first place, there is no option to disable packet data or internet access at all. I can only choose between on demand and always online. I tried to make new hoax profiles with made up usernames and passwords for those data links and access points and set them as defaults but this phone always just connects to the internet by edge after all.
I also can't just delete my provider's access points which seem to be sitting on the sim card or however that works. On sony ericsson devices there is at least some kind of workaround which works by setting the access points to ask for a password before they actually connect but in this phone there doesn't seem to be any option to protect myself to go online by accident.
I am not able to access internet via wi-fi anymore. I can connect to a wi-fi with success but i can not connect to internet i get "mobile data off/connection unavaliable".I looked into network settings set priority of active wi-fi to 1 and tied like 10 random wi-fis My internet works fine if i`m not into wi-fi so i guess it`s a option that i must have changed to deactivate wi-fi or something like that
I've just updated my Lumia 800 to Tango. I now see the Internet sharing option. I can switch it on, other clients can see and connect to the WiFi hotspot.I tried to tether my Windows 7 laptop to the phone, but no luck - I cannot actually use the tethered connection to browse the Internet.I don't have any restrictions on my Internet usage plan.I can confirm this because with the same data plan (and SIM), my E6 (with Joiku hotspot) can share its Internet connection without any hassles.
I just updated my N8 from symbian anna to belle. Everything went ok. Now I'm trying to connect to my home wifi network which has WEB security. I can connect without a problem. I mean the phone says it's connected to the network. But when I try to access a website there is only the error page. And after a minute or so the wifi connection drops out by itself. I saved the network, and there's no other destination in the settings/destinations menu. the phone is not connecting to it by itself. Is there a way to go back to Anna?
