Jul 21, 2010
I purchased nokia 5800XM 2months back .. i updated it from v40 to FW v50 ...it was working fine ...but just 2 days back my battery became hot .. i was not calling or dong anything ...then i went to nokia care .. they told me that it has virus which makes the battery hot is it possible ?
then they said that there are issues with downloading it directly from internet ...then they formatted and updated my mobile to v 50 ... but now there was many things changed ...there is no animation when i press the middle button to menu... it opens directly !!moreover for dialing also no animation and for phone book entry also .. then i said this to nokia care but they said the animation is not there in v50...plzzz help me out .. i liked that animation so much ...is it because they might have deleted system files from my mobile !

I have a N900 and tried to update it via pc cause as far as i understood it is unable to update itself, but the update process goes as far as 51.7/51.8 Mb instead of 187.9Mb and i tried everything like restarting the updater, restarting the pc reinstalling the updater almost everything except reinstalling windows on my pc and start all over again.

After just paying alot of monies for this handset, I feel let down...
1. Most obvious and talked about is the OVi Maps update. Iv read this is on its way, I hope its soon!
2. No MMS
3. No SMS without conversations, I hate conversations. I hate that nokia are copying iphone...
4. No copying of old SMS to N900. I was a N86 8MP user before this handset arrived today. I have about 1 to 2 THOUSAND messages, from over the years and Im a texaholic, so I NEED to save them....
5. No extra data connections, With O2 UK, I would normally have 3 connections:
O2 MMS
O2 WAP
O2 GPRS
But in addition to this, the new sim cards, automatically have a O2 postpay wap connection. So, I would like to have as many connections as I can!
6. No editing contact number description text. With, another let down, I have hundreds of contacts and about 10-30 of those have more than 2 or 3 numbers. For example, my workplace contact. I had like 10 to 11 numbers, plus other details, such as notes and emails all stored under 1 contact! For each number and note, I edited the text so I know exactly whos number it was, or what that text related to
I sure there's more, but atm since turning it on, charging, updating to latest firmware and first time boot with sim card, this is what I have found so far...

So had my N900 for a little over a week now and overall I'm pretty impressed. Great phone, but still very much a work in progress. One of the main issues I have at the moment, other than no turn-by-turn navigation (sorry, had to mention it), is the battery life - or lack of!
On an average weekday I use the phone to send a few texts (no more than 10), scan the news sites (no more then 20-30mins total) and catch up on my RSS feeds (again, no more than 20-30 mins total). I'm not using the media player at all and I may make one or two short calls.
Bottom line is that I'm struggling to get more than 6 hours battery life out of it. I know smart phones are thirsty, but I don't even get to listen to music on my way to or from work! Here's what I've already done to reduce battery consumption:
Removed active widgets (such as ForcaWeather) from desktops and replaced with web shortcuts.Reduced screen brightness to 2 barsDisabled GPS & Network positioningDisabled IMDisabled BluetoothI've heard some mention reducing the amount of active desktops, but I think that kinda defeats the object of having a N900. May as well buy a lesser phone if you need to strip out all the functionality to get though the day. I'd be satisfied with 8-10 hours medium use. At the moment I'm getting around 6 hours at light use - got to be something I'm missing.

I've got a Nokia N95 with the latest 35.0.002 firmware and a brand new genuine Nokia BL-5F battery. When I first got the battery I cycled it twice to calibrate the gauge as recommended. However, it shows 100% 7 bars until the battery is almost discharged, when it will drop about a bar every 10 minutes until it no longer switches on. This is quite annoying as I don't know how much battery I have left. I'd like it to stop lying to me and drop steadily according to how much charge is left. Also, if I discharge the battery a bit by, say, browing the web so the battery gauge is still showing full and then plug the charger in for a few seconds and unplug it again, it then shows me the true battery level by dropping a couple of bars. However, it will get "stuck" at this level until the charger is connected and disconnected again. It shows full for about two days of heavy usage - WiFi, 3G, GPS and all that, upon when the gauge drops. Is there a way to calibrate it better or should I flash the phone again? Or is the battery faulty?

Need Help/Suggestion from Mobile Gurus right here .I have 1 Year Old N73 ME and I mainly use it for Calling and Texting. Very Occasionally I use it for Music/Gaming and Browsing the Web.The phone is completely in excellent condition
The problem is that: While charging ONLY the Battery gets too much HOT and it never shows Battery is Full (Charged it for Max 1 Hour 45 Minutes) This problem suddenly appeared, so I formatted the Memory Card as well as Hard Format/Reset the Phone, but still the Battery is heating too much
After disconnecting the Phone from Charger, the Battery is FULL and I can use it without any problem and as usual. The Talktime right now is around 2.5 Hours and Standby time is around 2-3 Days

I've noticed a weird behavior with my E75 (sw ver 202.12.01).Sometimes the battery gets drained from full to nough over one night, sometimes the phone will last a few days on one charge.I have a culprit nominee and it's the GPS data application, which doesn't really quit. Sure, it exits, it doesn't appear in the Running apps list, but the GPS lock comes in surprisingly fast (in a second or two) so I guess it never really quits.
I have charged my phone and rebooted so that the GPS data doesn't get in the way, and I'll see how it goes. But I am already pretty convinced.

I read another post about the same question, it said there was a space near to where you press the buttons to remove the back, but didn't actually say what to do with the space?

Fully charged when i went to bed, woke up 8 hours later and it's down to 52%. One hour later it's down to 45%. Has the 'wifi bug' been put on my phone with v3, or does it just have terrible battery management?

After finally getting rid of my 5800 doorstop, I'm now the (proud?) owner of an N97. I've encountered a fair few of the software/ c: problems and using many of the usefull tips to help with those, BUT - after 2 weeks my supplied battery (BP-4L) now won't charge more than half full and when used it dies after minutes when using the internet or an application. Thats just not right, it got an initial 24 charge and bi nightly, then nightly recharges in the first week, and its having to be left on charge constantly now.
So I rang my SP Vodafone as it was only 2 weeks old, and the chap said the 4L was the wrong battery? he said it should be a 5f but as he had none he would send me a BL-6F which was compatible and would last longer. Can't believe this will be correct, surely its a smaller battery, its also 1200mah as opposed to 1500mah so will drain quicker. Any Techy chaps know whether this'll be acceptable. Drawing up the strength for another bash at the SP, but its like speaking dutch to them.

I have a problem with auto shutdowns on my E90 - started a month ago. I have performed 2x soft reset. Hard reset (*#7370#), format of microSDHC, removal of microSDHC, run clean (no apps, no contacts, no bookmarks, no calendar entries - & no microSDHC) -- and still it shuts down. White screen shows, followed by Nokia Logo, then off.
Tried keeping bluetooth on this morning because someone said they tried that on their E72. This thing has gone off several times already today while searching for the a solution here. Battery maybe

I purchased a brand new E52 at amazon.de.The device is super, I've got all things running without any problems. The programs running in background on the device were:
- Push Exchange sync over WLAN (if available) or UMTS;
- VoIP Client, always registered.
The device worked about 16 hours; after wards was the battery empty. Well, I had two GSM/UMTS conversations - 5 minutes each - and I tested the OVI maps - maybe 15 minutes navigation with A-GPS.There is one more thing: the device gets pretty warm. The phone was RMAd back to amazon.de. I've got a new one: it was pretty the same.My question: am I unlucky or is the E52 generally so? Should I try once more, I mean, a new delivery? My old E51, which is unfortunately already Ebay'ed, did work with the same load at least 3 days. And, don't forget, it has a smaller battery than the E52.

Somebody was suggesting me this, to improve the performance of the battery overclock the phone to 900MHz, it will slow down the processor but will save quite a bit of battery.
My question is: is it trueHow safe it is, will it cause any damage, working, functionality, features of the phone. What side effect, negative effect can it have on the working of the phone.

I upgraded my firmware on my 5800 to V50 2 days ago. Everything seemed to work fine.Yesterday I noticed the battery getting very hot for a few hours. I wasn't doing anything particularly intensive - I was surfing with Opera, doing some uploading of pictures to OVI - stuff that I quite often do without any battery problems. Overnight the battery had drained and was empty.I'm sure I did not leave any applications running overnight. The battery was fully charged before I went to bed. It's now charging, and seems to be functioning OK.Of course I don't know for sure that the firmware update is the reason for the rapid draining of the battery, or the earlier overheating. Does anyone have any suggestions?
