Somebody was suggesting me this, to improve the performance of the battery overclock the phone to 900MHz, it will slow down the processor but will save quite a bit of battery.
My question is: is it trueHow safe it is, will it cause any damage, working, functionality, features of the phone. What side effect, negative effect can it have on the working of the phone.
So had my N900 for a little over a week now and overall I'm pretty impressed. Great phone, but still very much a work in progress. One of the main issues I have at the moment, other than no turn-by-turn navigation (sorry, had to mention it), is the battery life - or lack of!
On an average weekday I use the phone to send a few texts (no more than 10), scan the news sites (no more then 20-30mins total) and catch up on my RSS feeds (again, no more than 20-30 mins total). I'm not using the media player at all and I may make one or two short calls.
Bottom line is that I'm struggling to get more than 6 hours battery life out of it. I know smart phones are thirsty, but I don't even get to listen to music on my way to or from work! Here's what I've already done to reduce battery consumption:
Removed active widgets (such as ForcaWeather) from desktops and replaced with web shortcuts.Reduced screen brightness to 2 barsDisabled GPS & Network positioningDisabled IMDisabled BluetoothI've heard some mention reducing the amount of active desktops, but I think that kinda defeats the object of having a N900. May as well buy a lesser phone if you need to strip out all the functionality to get though the day. I'd be satisfied with 8-10 hours medium use. At the moment I'm getting around 6 hours at light use - got to be something I'm missing.
Just purchased iPhone 4S and it's sucking the life out of the battery. I've read several posts to turn items off to save battery life and nothing seems to be working.
my wife has bought a new BB Torch 9800 and she kept complaining as to why the battery doesn't last that long.she explains to me that during the day (when the phone is fully charged) she uses/checks her Facebook, listen to MP3 files and play some games. but this is not like during her whole 8-hour shift of work of course. maybe during her break times. And she said that by the end of the day (by 7pm) the battery is almost fully drained.
i am facing the problem in the battery(xperia mini pro) the charge gets over very soon it lasts only for 6 hours. i should charge my phone atleast 2 times daily how to save the battery even when the data traffic is on?
Ok I just ordered Nexus one + spare battery I do not need the spare battery unless I am travelling. So how should I save the battery....for the laptop I usually remove it and use it once every 2 weeks. Do I do the same for the cell phoen battery?
Is there any way to step down to 3G or even 2G on a non-rooted Atrix phone running 4_1.8.3?
I found tools to get me to the screens to make the changes, but they do not stick. I am not ready to root my phone. 3G or 2G for vocie is plenty clear enough for me.
I know there are other ways to save battery power, but would like to step down a G or two.

It would be nice to be able to lock any screen, not just the workout screens. For example, I like to wear the Motoactv as a watch. You can have the it dim the screen, but not go off, if you tell it not to timeout the screen in workout, and then do a walking workout. However, when I touch the watch by mistake, it goes to my timepiece setup screen. Locking it at any screen would solve this. Also, having a dim mode to save the battery for watch use would be nice.
I usually close all the active apps from the Task manager to save the battery of my s2, after doing that i checked the RAM and clear it but there's a message that says for example 8 application were closed, so where this apps came from???
I sent over some songs from my PC to my phone and saved them in Attachments. The problem is that i don´t know how to save them in Music. Every time I want to listen to that song i have to go to Attachments.
I connect to internet and check my email via E72 and by WLAN connection. My problem is, it asks me several time about which WLAN you want to connect and also each time I want to connect to internet or check mt email it asks me about which WLAN you want to connect. How can I save my WLAN to prevent E72 to ask again about that?
I've got a Nokia N95 with the latest 35.0.002 firmware and a brand new genuine Nokia BL-5F battery. When I first got the battery I cycled it twice to calibrate the gauge as recommended. However, it shows 100% 7 bars until the battery is almost discharged, when it will drop about a bar every 10 minutes until it no longer switches on. This is quite annoying as I don't know how much battery I have left. I'd like it to stop lying to me and drop steadily according to how much charge is left. Also, if I discharge the battery a bit by, say, browing the web so the battery gauge is still showing full and then plug the charger in for a few seconds and unplug it again, it then shows me the true battery level by dropping a couple of bars. However, it will get "stuck" at this level until the charger is connected and disconnected again. It shows full for about two days of heavy usage - WiFi, 3G, GPS and all that, upon when the gauge drops. Is there a way to calibrate it better or should I flash the phone again? Or is the battery faulty?
I have an E63 and I'm just loving this phone! However, there's a small issue I don't find an answer to.I've got wi/fi in my house, its wpa secured. The thing is that every time I connect to this wireless network, it asks for the network password. Isn't there a way to just save the password and allow it to connect on selection?
Very frustrating issue that Blackberry has no problems handling. I've seen this question asked before in other forums but no solutions.
Issue is: When I get a call I see the name and number of the caller. However when I check the call logs I only see the number. Why can't my phone save the name AND number in the call logs. When I put my sim into my Blackberry it does this no problem so it's nothing to do with service provider. There's gotta be something a setting somewhere, third party!
I want to securely save documents in my Nokia E72 so I will encrypt my memory card, however, i state that if i restore my phone to factory setting then I won't be able to use the data on my memory card!? Is this true?. I'm just afraid I encrypt my memory card and then I have to restore to factory setting even if by mistake and this would mean I will lost all the data on the encrypted memory card or phone.
When I send a file from a phone or computer it goes straight to my inbox and the pictures and videos will save to my gallery but there is no option for me to save songs, yet it will let me set them as a ringtone. Any help please?
i am currently trying to save text messages to my sim on my nokia 5800 but can not seem to find this option.i have just found out how to save them to my memory card . i am also wondering will the texts come up if i put my memory card into another 5800 or will the texts have to be saved to my sim card.
Well known tip for regaining space on C after installing the latest Maps 3.04. Go to installed apps and remove all the 'share location' stuff, you'll get about 3 to 4 meg back, and if you really want to share location install Nokia social messaging/facebook and Twitter app, from Nokia Beta Labs or Ovi Store. This will install on E and both FB and Twitter will add location on posts.
1) Is there any way to change the default web browser (from the built-in one to Opera mini, for example)? You get no options when you to the Settings items.
2) Is there any way to save web pages to a file, for example airline mobile boarding passes or train tickets?
I just purchased a Mural 6750 and a friend sent me a picture that I wanted to save, so from the menu, I selected "Save Contents" and it told me that it was saved to the "Gallery", well where's the "Gallery"? I looked in the pictures folder and it's empty, and so is the picture folder on the memory card. I looked in the user manual and there's no mention of a "Gallery" anywhere. It seems like when I want to save something, I should be asked where I want to save it to, especially since I have a memory card installed.
how to save a route? When using Nokia Maps, I can save a location. But say I navigate from Distance A -> B, not via the Map's original shown route and want to save this route, how do I do it? There is route folder but I do not see any setting or option to save it.
