Nokia :: 5800 XM - How Can I Disable Voice Dialing?
Aug 29, 2010
Whenever my 5800 Xpress Music connects to a wired or bluetooth headset it starts 'Speak now' voice dialling which sometimes accidentally starts a call to one of my contacts and I'm unaware of dialling out until the recipient answers the call. I've checked the forums and instruction manual but switching voice dialling (or commands) off doesn't seem to appear anywhere.
I have a Bold 9000, and sometimes the bugger just drives me nuts. This has only happened to me twice now, but it's a pretty costly issue..My voice dialing seems to randomly turn on, I have no idea what is leading up to it, I hadn't had my headphone jack in it for a couple of hours. But then, the next morning, my alarm doesn't go off because the stupid voice dialing was activated [as you can see, this is a costly issue because it has lead to me missing a shift].Anyways, all the posts that I have read the solution has been to disable the side key.. Which I did a long time ago, and I double checked today, yes, it is turned to video camera, not voice dialing. How do I disable my voice dialing?
I want to permanently disable this feature and can't find where to do so. When using a bluetooth headset, if I press the button in a call, it hangs up. However, if the other end hangs up first, my phone calls a random number from the phone book when I try to hang up myself. The same happens if the headset gets touched accidentally.
I seem to remember seeing this somewhere before, is there a way to disable the annoying auto-suggest feature during voice dialing? You know, when you voice dials and the automated voice comes off saying "next time say name... "
Previously I was using the original firmware which was current as of December 2009 and didn't have any real issues with my phone. Now I have the latest firmware, I cannot seem to use voice dialling effectively anymore. It either says "No match found" or dials the wrong person. I think I remember doing a voice training exercise when I had the old firmware in which I said lots of different people's names but can't seem to find that on the new firmware. Has this feature been removed or relocated with the latest firmware update?
I have the following problem with my Nokia 3710 fold. What I press the headset button short the phone tries to make voice dialing, i.e. it listens to some word said and tries to make a fit from my phonebook and then dial it. The problem is that this button is pressed accidentally and then the phone hears some noises and find a "match" - which is basically picking one of the names stored in random - the result is a phone call to some people that I saved their number years ago leading to embarrassing results. I tried to disable this feature. I couldn't. Any feature of the phone can be turned off except this one!! I don't want voice dialing enabled what can I do!
I bought sony headphones with a on-wire volume control remote, and because of it my 5800 recognises it as a TV Out connector. Now can someone PLEASE tell me how can I disable this function?
Voice Adaptation "Adapt your voice to improve recognition results of voice dialing."I keep getting half way through it and it tells me "Time Expired!"i have tried several times and can't get to the end.It is not as if I am taking a long time.
I have a bluetooth car kit that mutes my car stereo. When ever the Maps app talks the stereo mutes. I would like to disable the voice so I can view directions but not have my stereo continually muted. Turning the volume to zero does not solve it. No voice is head but it still mutes the stereo. Currently my only solution is to turn my N97 bluetooth off. Is voice disable possible? Route66 has that feature. Is tired of Nokia whingers. Go to Apple, that's where you deserve to be.
My dad has a Nokia 5800 and gets text messages usually with numbers in, but they aren't phone numbers but Symbian just thinks they are so the are red underlined and clickable (so you can easily dial that number). Now my question is: how do you disable this? The numbers are a bit harder to read when they are red underlined and the click feature is totally useless in this situation.I recall seeing this option on my E71 but I don't remember where.
I've been searching everywhere and can't seem to find an answer to this..What I want to do is keep the bluetooth voice link in my car (all working great btw) but disable the audio so that navigation directions come from the phone speaker. My Nokia N8 did this by default but I cannot seem to find an option in Setting or Drive to prevent the audio from going to Bluetooth.

I have updated my 5800 and downloaded maps. I have installed uk maps on the phone but I have no voice guidance. In the settings menu under drive guidance it states 'none' but when I select download nothing happens. Can I get voice guidance online and transfer it to the phone. Also why did the maps software not come with it when I remember selecting english as an option in the install process when I used my computer to install it on the phone.
I live in Brazil and recently bought a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. I've installed the Ovi Maps 2.0 and download, through the nokia program the maps for Brazil and Brazilian Portuguese voice. During the "Drive"/"Walk" options in Ovi Maps, there is no voice. I don't know what to do. I've checked the updates on the phone software and map software through the computer and it says as the last version.
iv finaly managed to dwnload maps on my 5800,on start up the voice gives one command then says buy liscence, how do i overcome this?its says my liscence expired and when i upadte it gives me the price.
I am new to this forum and have been quite pleased with my 9700 until recently. For some reason my voice dialing has changed so that now it looks up contacts in last name first order i.e. if I say john smith it looks for a last name "john" This is a new phenomenon that seemingly has been initiated by the device without intervention from me and I can't seem to get it corrected. the contacts folder is sorted by first name.
How do you turn off the voice dialing? It keeps popping in when I am listening to an audio book with the headphones on, and I am unable to turn it off. It can also come in when I am listening to the radio. It is a real pain in the neck.
I update my Sony Z3 at 5.0 Lollipop and I don't know if have or can get from market google play the voice dialing? I connect my Phone via Bluetooth at car navigation but don t find Voice Dialing like have before at Samsung S4. I try many application but don t find.
I am having a problem with my voice dialing function. I connect with my bluetooth, the application does start and prompts me for a voice command, and after I give it, the application will pull up a name that is not EVEN close. I have unpaired my device and re-paired it. No help. For general information - previously had the Palm Treo 800W running Windows Mobile 6.1 and the voice command/dialing worked just fine with the same blue tooth device.
Can anyone tell me if the XpressMusic 5800 should have an audible alert say every minute or so to let me know I have a voice mail message, I know there is one when the message first arrives? Also the same for text messages, I know there is a flashing button, but I was hoping for an audible alert, not just for when it first arrives?
Frequently, a couple of seconds after ending a call with someone on my 5800, the screen is filled with the message "packet data connection active" for a moment. The message won't go away by clicking on the screen. The only way to force it away is by clicking the red button, but that would also take me away from whatever menu or application I was at, so I'd prefer not to do that. Also, I don't want to change to connectivity settings per se, (as seen in, for example, this topic: [URL]). Rather, is there any way to disable just the message?
Does anyone else find voice dialing useless on their Tour? My previous phones' voice-dialing functions worked smashingly well (99% success over four years), but the Tour I just want to smash. (100% failure)
I read the threads suggested for my subject entry, and some people seem to have great luck, while others don't. I've tried the voice adaption in a silent room, I've tried turning off prompts, etc... It remains literally TOTALLY useless.
"Call Pete" results in "Please try again". I try again, and I get, "Sorry, command not recognized."
"Call Home" yields "Did you say, Call ATT Customer Service?" What?
Thinking maybe I have a bad mic element in the phone, I tried my BT headset. With that, "Call Pete" results in "Calling Ford Dealer Work 1" and then to add insult to injury, "she" says, "Next time, just say "call Ford dealer work 1".
I really used the heck out of voice dialing on my previous phones, and find it hard to believe that a much newer phone won't work at all. I hate regressing with technology.
I'm still in my 30-days "satisfaction guarantee" and I may just have to try something else. I can't believe this function is so totally useless.
I have a Bold 9700 through AT&T.Twice now, I have accidentally pressed the call button on my bluetooth, and afterwards, I am unable to have sounds played through my phone after disconnecting the bluetooth. My alarm will not play in the morning, the phone will not ring/alert, and I am unable to play music. When I try, I get the following message: "Cannot play media while Voice Activated Dialing is active."How do I turn off the VAD? I do not wish to use it in the future, either
My Blackberry Curve 8330 is having a problem with the voice dialing spontaneously turning on. Occasionally (about 1/4 of the time) when I try placing a call, the sound is muted-- as in I cannot hear ringing on the other end. When I hang up, the phone initializes the voice dialing feature. It continues to pop up up at 3 second intervals, at which point I can no longer receive or place calls. I can write texts and receive them, but because the voice dialing keeps popping up, texting isn't an easy task! This continues all day and I must restart the phone for it to stop (does not work all the time).
Bit of a numpty with my BB right now , how do I get the BB to dial a contact when i have the BB clipped to my belt using the wired handsfree kit or via a bluetooth headset ? Is it possible to dial without having to touch the BB and also the ringtone never plays thru the headset which is strange.
