Motorola Xoom :: Password-protect Each One So That Each Person Only Has Access To Their Mail?
May 21, 2011
I have four different users of my Xoom tablet in the house, and we each have a gmail account. How can I password-protect each one so that each person only has access to their mail, and not everyone else's?I was thinking an application password app would help, but there's just the one GMail app to protect ... not the individual accounts connected to the app.
I have a Google Apps account where a password is required on the device. I'd like to see this work more like the Droid X where you set a timeout, say 30 minutes, and if you use the device within 30 minutes, you don't need to enter the password again.
I would like to think that I am somewhat OK with using the XOOM based on the fact that I have an original DROID and have been dealing with the ANDROID OS for some time now. I have yet to load any files on the XOOM itself, but I was wondering how I go about accessing files once they are put on the XOOM. I have uploaded pictures and placed those in the picture folder but they are easy to find due to the gallery. When plugged into my laptop I can see all of the different folders, but I cannot figure out how to get to them when not plugged into the laptop. You can do a long touch on the DROID homescreen and it will give you the options of seeing, shortcuts, widgets, folders and wallpapers. This is how I would access files with the DROID. It does not work the same for the XOOM.
I have a Motorola Xoom and I have just upgraded to ICS 4.0.4, prior to this I didn't have any problems accessing my wireless router...Netgear WGR614V6....but since the upgrade I've tried everything and I can't get Internet access. I go to settings and click on "Wireless" (You can see that it sees it amongst the list of Routers) and it shows that it is protected by the encryption "PSA-PSK". I put in the password and it goes through the motions but it doesn't connect. It shows that it is looking for an IP address but then it doesn't pass the authentication. I have even tried "WEP" but to no avail. Has anyone had this problem..is there a fix or do I have to go back to "HoneyComb".
y son's xoom has movies on it and he has been watching them, but now for some reason when he clicks on gallery it stalls and re starts it self, so we can't get into gallery at all,
I have set up my primary gmail on my new xoom and can read and send mail, but cannot get at my contacts, possibly because my main access on the PC is using THunderbird.I have tried to set up my7 secondary gmail account (which works OK on any PC with any browser, rather than Thunderbird) on the Xoom, but Google cannot find it. Several attempts have failed. I have typed the user name and password very carefully
I want to be able to feel secure that no one can read my text messages or emails on my iPhone. is there anyway I can put a password on these two apps without having to have a password for the whole phone. Info: iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1
Just want to know if anyone else is having this problem or is just on my Xoom. I can access Market but when I try to access My Apps I regularly get a FC. What it says is (process.com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.
I have tried the Vol-Up-On start and cleared the Market cache with the same result. Would uninstalling an reinstalling Market be the next step.
It's wireless and has 3.2.1 installed, and has build # HTK75D. last week it was showing up on My Computer and I was able to save all in the system. Today I'm unable to access it in My Computer, in fact when I plug in the USB plug into the computer with Win 7 Pro it does not give a bing sound that sounds normally when a USB plug it plugged in. the same result when I tried a different hard drive. All my other USB toys work OK. I even installed "MotoHelper_2.0.53_Driver_5.2.0" with no positive results.
On my DroidX when I open a contact and select the email address it opens up my mail program (k9 mail) so that I can send a message. On my Xoom when I try the exact same thing the screen just goes gray and hangs until I touch it again.
Im tring to change my xoom password from the pattern one to the pin, but I just cant find the option on the location security menu. Do I have to reset the device?
My Xoom WiFi is encrypted. When I turn on the tablet I get a password screen with the Android logo and a clock that never seems to display the correct time. Is it a glitch?
I did a search, and couldn't find it for the tour. I want to put a password on for every time I lock it, it needs a password, or something like that. I want under security option, general etc and still could not find anything.
i already have my 9700 password protected and everytimes i plug my 9700 it will ask me for my password. but my question is, if i remove my sd card and plug it into my pc, it doesn't prompt me for any password. wtf? where is the security, rim? i though one of ur selling point was blackberry is a secure device?
I entered my email on the BlackBerry Protect password retrieval webpage in order to reset my password, but I have not yet received an email and it's been over 12 hours now!!!
My BB has been playing up for the last 4 months (i've only had it for 10 months!!), and in the last week I noticed that whenever I use email, messenger, and texts all my letter 'i's are missing the dots above them. This is preventing me from sending emails as the letter is not recognised. So I figured I would backup and restore my BB to 2 weeks prior.
I can't backup to an earlier date without signing in, but as I said earlier I don't remember my password, and still no email with my password has been emailed to me!
This would make it easier to track the phone in case stolen, And also have the time to remotely remove data in time, before it goes out of reach who knows where and what purpose?I understand the phone would eventually switch off when no juice on battery, but I hope Apple engineers would code this feature as it would make it harder time for criminals. My friends phone was stolen yesterday, and It was protected by a four digit code, and a bundle 24- months plan phone. So no one should be able to use it as a phone, or can this be overrided? Anyway, I wish Apple would make even more systems that would make it harder time for the criminals.
I've created a folder on my application screen, into which I have placed some apps. My kids sometimes get hold of my phone and wear my battery out playing games. Is it possible to password protect a folder that you make on the application screen?
I read about the Alt+Enter to lock the phone and have the password instantly activate. But is there ANY way to have the Lock button on top of the 9700 to lock it and password protect it instantly? I know that with my 8900, the standby button does it instantly but there is no standby on the 9700.It just doesn't make sense to me why locking it from the home screen and the alt+enter would password protect it right away, but the lock button at the corner makes you wait.
Does anyone know of an app that would enable me to password protect a single application of my choice. I keep all of my passwords, PIN #'s and account information in my contacts program. Rather than transfer the sensitive information from those entries to a program like Ewallet, I'd like to just keep storing the info in the Contacts app, but secure the app with a password. Anyone know of anything that works that way?
