I am having problems with my Xoom wifi skipping while I am multitasking. I notice it most while browsing. This is no surprise as using the browser is cpu intensive, but I have noticed it other times as well. I thought it might be the default music player, but once they fixed the Pandora force close issue on the Xoom wifi I noticed the same problem with Pandora.
i'm not sure if this a black and white yes/no question, but i'm trying to understand how the xoom handles switching between programs. for example, if i'm buffering a video clip on Internet, it appears that i cannot switch to any other program without interrupting the buffering. however, with certain games, i can switch to another program (email for example) and back to the game without loosing my place. are there certain rules that the xoom uses for switching between programs? does it perform differently between using the home icon versus the quick launch icons on the task bar? is multitasking function specific - meaning wifi or 3g/4g is always interrupted? is it program specific?
I've been trying to listen to an Internet radio in one tab and reading newspapers in another tab to no avail. This happen in the Chrome browser as well as in the Dolphin HD (latest version). Only one tab is on and the other goes off in the background. Desktops have no problem dealing with this kind of multitasking. Is there a way to make the Xoom support tab multitasking?
Often music from the Music Player skips. This happens on the native Music Player as well as on Amazon Music Player when I listen to music on the device (not the the cloud player).
MA 1.6.6. N16 Playing music works ok but the first time this happened it was after 1 hour. Then I get a popup dialog saying "You must set a fit song". The music then skips through the song and then skips songs continually.
This happens everytime I workout. Today it happened after 20 minutes Since I have never set a fit song I tried to set one. I had to turn off the music.
This only started happening after the last update to the one shown above.
after updating my X10 to 2.3, the music player skips during playback very often, and it's becoming near unlisten-able. I did a repair and that didn't solve the problem, and it appears i'm not the only one with this issue after some internet searching. I highly doubt SE are going to release another update fixing this problem.
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
i have iphone 4, iphone 4s and ipod and on all units some songs stop playing and skips to the next song. i have unchecked sync music and put it back on again and still the same result. I also set up a new library and no luck there either.
Got my phone connected to my car through blue tooth. Phone seems to work fine, but music skips when trying to play media files via blue tooth. Running software version 7.1 Bundle 457?
When playing streaming content using the XBox Music player the song will skip at about 10 seconds before the end of the song. The issue is only with streamed content (songs stored local on the device work fine)It does not appear to repro with the Nokia music playerKnown issue? Other than downloading the song is there a work around?
I was always very positive about the 1320, but now, after 2 months, the faults are starting to annoy me. This is the biggest problem: I can't play music through bluetooth. It always stutters and skips. Even if I put the phone next to the device. Even on other devices.
Well I have been waiting for the longest time for someone to post a similar issue but I haven't seem to find it.Whenever I play music on my phone and then begin to do other things on my phone, mainly respond to text or email, my phone's screen freezes.I am able to use the hard keys on the phone though so I am able to back out of wherever it froze. The only way to resolve the issue is to do a battery pull and it is frankly making me not use my phone for music purposes even though it is extremely convenient. I am personally thinking it has something to do with the keyboard but am not sure. This issue only happens with music and it includes the built in media player as well as programs like Pandora. When I play videos, my phone doesn't freeze, but also the videos don't play in the background.
I have the Google Music beta on PC and the Xoom music player is syncing nicely to it.However, when playing, it will skip and sometimes stop playing altogether. I have 3.1 update, and 9.5 gb free on internal storage. It happens with on device MP3's as well. Not a wi-fi issue as it happens with wi-fi off. Any thoughts fellow Xoomers? I did search the forums already, and saw some mention of Andro Explorer causing this
I have a problem with the sd card on my Xoom wifi with Android 4.0.4. I have my music collection on an sd card which is loaded in my Xoom. Initially the music plays fine in the Google Play Music App, but after using the tablet for a day or two the music will no longer play. I get a message that the music cannot be played. This message then appears when attempting to play any music on the sd card.
I can temporarily fix the problem by erasing the Media Storage and Google Play Music data or resetting the tablet as suggested by gmanapps, but the problem repeats itself. I also tried syncing/not syncing with Google Music, disabling the Google Play Music app and using an alternate player, and formatting the sd card.
In general I have been happy with my Xoom, but this issue really concerns me. Does this point to a larger problem of stability in the Android file structure?
I just installed an update to the Music App, shows as version 3. Previously I had moved several albums to the Music folder on my wifi Xoom and could see and play these on the Xoom. After the update the Music app does not see the previous albums. I moved another wma file to the Music folder using the latest USB drivers but the App does not see it either. Other music playing apps on the Xoom see the files and can play them. What am I doing wrong? I think I have the Music beta but am not sure, can anyone tell me what the version of the Music beta is? Also, I installed the windows USB driver on all my computers. USB seems to work fine on my Win 7, WinXP and Windows Home Server computers except through USB I cannot see any media files in my Xoom folders. Also many files I have put in the download folder cannot be seen. Is this due to the .nomedia file in the folder. Can I just rename that file to see the other files there?
Anyone else has a Motorola Roadster and played music over the bluetooth and FM transmitter?Played music perfectly with the DroidX but extremely noisy and lower volume with the Xoom.
On both Pandora and slacker radio my songs are randomly "skipping" as if I was hitting the skip button. They might play for 5secs or the whole song. The only time the problem goes away is when I'm out of skips! Between that and the awful wifi that cuts out just as randomly, its rather unlistenable. I stream music all day at work, and I've started just using 3g because it doesn't cut out like the wifi, but its eating data and still skips. If I don't find fixes to these issues this phone is going on craigslist... I got it assuming it would out perform my mesmerize which so far it does not.(at least for audio) Also, the streaming audio glitches out every time I press the top hard button.
I just received my Xoom wi-fi only and while setting it up I received the 3.1 update, which I installed. I had not added any files to my Xoom yet but while I started playing some of the music files that came with the Xoom, the player force closed while I was browsing the music files. It does not close while playing music but only while browsing the music that came with the Xoom. I then added music to the music folder from my PC and it still force closes while browsing my music files. This happends all the time after I play a few music files. I have the music player 3.0 version. A reboot does not help, it does it every time I use the player. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions are welcome. If I install another music player app. will it recognize my music already in my Xoom? And any recommendations on another player? I'm tired of the force closing of the Music player that came with the Xoom.
When using the Google Music Beta, is there a more elegant solution for adjusting volume other than fumbling with the up/down volume buttons on the side? Most music players appear to have some sort of volume slider on the screen. but other than play/pause/skip virtual buttons, I see no inherent volume control on the player.
I'm using native music app on honeycomb 3.0.1. I noticed some of my albums are duplicated on the list (but not on the filesystem, I checked using a file manager). What is strange is that the first copy have some music and the second copy have the other music missing on the first copy. I checked to see if it was a problem with the ID3 tag but aparently it is not. I even used DroID3 tag editor to autoedit ALL music from a given folder but after it finishes editing tags, the album is still duplicated with exactly the same songs on each copy. DroID3 renames the files, so apparently it is not a problem with the filename.I even cleared the Music App's cache after autoediting tags but it didn't solve the problem. I also noticed any music app that uses the index to list music have the same problem, so I don't think its a problem with the native music app.
I'm about 2 seconds from returning my Xoom Family Edition. I am furious at the fact I can't do something as simple as play music with the screen off without hearing static and constant clicking through my headphones. Only when the screen is off, too. Is this a common problem? Even my first gen single-core droid X doesn't behave this way when I play music using the very same apps with the screen off. It handles it fine, no clicks, no pops, no static, no bullcrap. Why is my supposedly "powerful" machine
I don't want to prevent xoom from going black after inactivity but I use it at my office to play music and I don't like having to unlock it each time I want to skip a song or change volume or pause it. How you deal with this screen lock and if there a music player better to deal with the lock on the xoom (I'm using the default android 3.1 player). Also not all my mp3 have good identifier so to be able to find them to play, I would like to have a folder browser list to play folders. What players you recommend for this scenario?
I can listen to music and watch videos on my Xoom2 via Wi-Fi from my computer but when I try the same music or videos from a USB Flash Drive, I can see all the files but when I try to play any of them the Xoom2 goes to "Settings".
I've noticed on different websites and forums that people are having problem attaching album covers to albums they've added to their native Xoom music player. In order to ensure all your music has the appropriate albums attached, I would suggest using Windows Media Player. The steps are as follows.
Step 1. Add music to the "Library" with the list of songs from your artist of choice.
Step 2. Then browse to the album that is missing art.
Step 3. Using either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer, in another window, find a picture that you want to use for album art (the picture can be in a file on your computer or on a webpage), right-click the picture, and then click Copy.
Step 4. In your library, right-click the album art box, and then click Paste Album Art.
A copy of the picture is embedded into each of the songs from that album. The copy of the picture is automatically scaled to the appropriate size and converted to the JPEG format before it is embedded in the file. The original picture file is not modified.
Step 5. Drag files from your library to the "Sync" tab, then sync songs to your Xoom. Now when you check your Xoom you should have all the album artwork attached to your albums.
