I prefer to use Wifi when I am at home. I'm showing as connected to wifi, but the 3g icon never turns off. Also, the 3g icon shows traffic. I just want to use wifi for all data. Not 3g.

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola xprt is less that 1 week old. At first everything worked fine. I had internet connection etc. So I connected to my home wifi and it worked fine, then my secure wifi at work. however now I cannot connect to the internet without wifi. There is no 3G signal activity. I tried to troubleshoot with a Sprint representatitve and after trying to do a profile update 3 times unsuccessfully, he recommended I take it to a shop and maybe get a new phone. Prior to that however I tried to troubleshoot from this site via a USB connection with properly installed drivers ( I think) and it was not able to detect my device. Do I have some settings wrong?

Is there a way to adjust/add to the auto-correct dictionary for the physical keyboard of the XPRT? On my SOLD BB9650, this was done the first time I picked up the phone. Now, I can't. This phone (while waiting for Gingerbread), would be THE BEST, if it could fix this little problem...

Any chance for 4.x?Because, see, as of today XPRT is lagging behind for like a year on Android updates.It was released (June 6, 2011) with outdated FroYo (released May 20, 2010).Now, if stars align, we'll get GB 2.3.5 update (released July 25, 2011) hopefully in August '12.And that also means that phone that's been out only for a year is already 2 major Android versions behind current one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a weekend of operation I tried to turn WiFi on only to have it turn itself off after 15-30 sec. It happened 3 times before I powered down and back up, that fixed the problem. It may be a memory leak as the phone had been on for 3 days, or maybe it was related to the fact that it had gotten to a low battery state over the weekend and it turned off some services to save battery and didn't turn them back on after it was charged. I have very few apps loaded and dont think thats the problem, but I did use Googles navigator this weekend for the first time since I updated to GB.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I check email (gmail, earthlink) or use the browser the wifi turns itself on. To be clear it is OFF to start with. Then when I do these functions the ? mark in the wifi symbol appears and it says "wifi network available, select a preferred network" and it is now turned on. I turn it off and then it goes on again as I said. Just got phone, only apps added were no lock and battery widget if that helps.

Now at first i tought it was my router, so i got another one and still the same thing. it does this not just at home but to any wifi network. im pretty sure this is a hardware related problem, however it could be software also, i have gotin noware execpet from Moto Send your phone in, so in about 2 to 3 weeks ill have it back with no way of having a phone, plus ill still have to pay at&t, second at&t have never hered of the atrix 2 having wifi problems and offered to exchange the device for my warrenty deductable of $150.00, what should i do, i would also like to here from the community to see if there are anyone else with the same problems se we can address these to Motorola and At&T.

Mine turns white when the screen goes to sleep and takes some time to turn back blue. i have checked the advanced settings, and it is set to Always keep WiFi on during sleep. When it is white, I don't get email, Gmail Chat, etc. As soon as it turns blue, I receive email, and Chat messages.

My wifi and packet data connections are set to turn on "After Confirmation" (instead of Automatic).FOr Internet access, Maps, and Nokia Messaging I have set the Access Point to Wifi and set it to "Always Ask" (for incoming & outgoing).Before I set up Nokia Messaging for my POP account the wifi would come on whenever I selected the Access point when an application requested it, and then turn off once the application was closed. However, after I have set up Nokia Messaging with 4 hour sync the wifi keeps turning on by itself. Even if I disconnect the active connection it turns on automatically within a couple of minutes.Nokia Messaging pops up every four hours asking if it can use the wifi. Even if I have terminated the active wifi a couple of minutes earlier, it will turn on as soon as I select "Cancel" for the popup from Nokia Messaging. In other words, no matter what I do, wifi turns on automatically and stays on till I disconnect it after which it turns on automatically.I have updated to the latest firmware nokia had for the phone. I have rechecked the settings several times and made sure no other application is active or trying to access the Net.All I am looking for is for the wifi ti turn on when checking mail and then turn off untill needed after 4 hours, so that batter life is not being used uselessly.

View 3 Replies View Relatedtheir N6 on Sprint where Sprint service essentially turns off whenever Wi-Fi is on. This is the only way I've been able to describe my issues with the N6. Whenever I am at home, I am usually on Wi-Fi because it works more reliably than LTE. So whenever someone calls me, the call goes straight to voicemail. I only receive a missed call notification if someone leaves a voicemail. I've been able to test this out with family members where I turn on Wi-Fi, they call me, and the call goes straight to VM. Then, I turn off Wi-Fi, they call me again, and I get the call.
Keeping LTE on all the time (and Wi-Fi off) would not be an issue but for the fact that Sprint's service notoriously sucks inside any building made of concrete (even in Manhattan). I'm not ready to switch providers because I've been grandfathered into a no-throttle unlimited everything plan where I essentially can use 5GB of data each month and pay a reasonable price. I moved to NYC recently and before lived in the D.C. area, where I lived in a house adjacent to a tower. There, I didn't mind keeping Wi-Fi off because I always had great LTE.
This is quite frustrating and it appears to be documented to some effect on Sprint's website (without a fix, of course). Sprint has now reset my network, PRL, and profile; and the only other option appears to be replacing the phone through my insurance. I'm hesitant, though, because I preordered a 6P.

1) It intermittently goes dead altogether with charge still available. Doesn't respond even to connecting charge lead! Only get out of jail card is taking the battery and reinserting and, as if by magic, it's fine.
2) Sickly WiFi connection. Having setup connection for some 3 months and no problem with my BT Home Hub it has decided now that it won't - at least not directly through the WEP id. It will however connect to the BTFon or Openzone!!!!!! Nothing has changed that I'm aware of but the phone seems to hang on 'getting IP address'. I've tried resetting the Home Hub, taking out the HTC battery and re-entering WEP info but nothing works. Can't connect to my own WiFi.
I HAVE BOUGHT A MOTORLA XPRT A MONTH AGO AND I ADDED THE 3G MOBILE HOTSPOT TO IT A WEEK LATER. FOR A WEEK MY PHONE WAS DOING FINE AND THEN WHEN I USE THE 3G MOBILE HOTSPOT I KEEP MY PHONE PLUGGED IN AND THE BATTERY SAYS IT IS CHARGING BUT IT IS DOING THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE AND GOING DEAD. MY PHONE KEEPS TURNING OFF IN 4-5 HOURS AND IT IS SAYING IT IS DEAD. AND ALSO MY PHONE GETS HOT AT THE TOP OF THE PHONE, THE BOTTOM OF THE PHONE STAYS COOL.

I have a strange Issue with my phone Xperia X10. When I use the Internet through the Carrier (3G) for several minutes, and the battery is less then (~80%) the phone simply turns off unexpectedly for no reason. If I then try to turn on the phone it will immidiatly shut down again so quickly I dont even have time to unlock it.
I can use the phone fine, Including connecting to the Internet through WIFI, and I will not have the issue. I can also use the 3G Internet fine until I get to about 80% battery, then the phone will turn off. If I disable the Internet connection through the carrier before I get to 80% I can continue using the phone without problems and even browse the Internet through WIFI. If I connect to the 3G Internet with my battery on less the 80% the phone will Immediately shut down.
I tried doing a full reset and reinstall through the SE PC companion, but it didnt help. I also tried installing a custom ROM and chose Wolfs TW Gingerbread but it didnt help and I still have the exact same issue.
This is a combination issue. I noticed with my Lumia 920, that if it had a weak/poor WiFi signal, it would still try to use that, and apps would report a bad internet connection, even when the LTE signal was great.This same thing seems to happen with my 950. Here at work, we have no WiFi. There are some nearby, but weak. If the phone latches on to one of them Pandora will report the internet connection is bad.
So, while at work I turn off WiFi. Problem solved, right? Wrong... WiFi turns itself back on from time to time.Why can't it fallback to my LTE when WiFi is bad? Why does it turn WiFi back on on it's own? Should I report this to the Insider program?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a completely stock Moto XPRT running 4.1.15.MB612. When I select to check for updates, it says 4.1.110.MB612 is available so I click to download. I'm on wifi so thankfully it's not too slow. The phone reboots, shows the Android guy doing his thing then quickly boots back in to Android before eventually popping up with the error "failed to update". So I lurked the forums and see to hold the @ symbol down when in recovery and do so, here's what pops up.

I have at least 6 XPRT's in my company that users are complaining they turn on by themselves in the middle of the night. This started happening after the Gingerbread update and has happened on phones that I've done a factory reset on. I've had them remove them from the cases to make sure they are pressing on the power button but the problem persists. I've seen some posts from Droid users having had the same problem and one XPRT user on the Sprint forums.
Could it be an app that get's installed. I've confirmed they are shutting them off and not just putting them in "low power" mode.
