Motorola Smartactions :: Photon Q: Ringer/Vibrate/Silent After An Action?
Oct 17, 2012
I typically keep my phone on vibrate, I rarely turn on the ringer. I have a Smart Action setup for night time which turns the ringer/vibrate off to silent. I also have a work Smart Action setup which sets it to vibrate (just in the case I had turned on the ringer at some time). It seems that when these Smart Actions turn off (which the work one tends to do even when I'm at my desk at work, but that's a location issue talked about elsewhere) they tend to turn the ringer on to full volume even if I had it set to vibrate only beforehand.
Is there any talk on including a new action to turn off/on LTE? Turning LTE off automatically when battery is low can really help save on battery power.
I have a SA for when I'm in the house. Trigger: Detect my wifi, then: Disable Cellular Data, Turn on blue-tooth, dim brightness to 45%, lower ringer volume, But when I leave the house, I want it to Turn Off Wifi and enable Cellular Data. Is there a way the SA can detect that I am not connected to my home wifi and disable wifi and enable Cellular Data, or just enable one SA and disable the active one?
I have settings for home and when I am bellying up at my local bar trying to get my Guiness on, the Smart Action is not smart enough to know I am 2 miles away from home. Is their way to tweak the geo-profiling?
I have an action set up to start the Pandora app whenever my phone bluetooth connects to my truck. For some reason, today the action is active while I am at home and with no bluetooth connection. I rebooted the phone, but the action starts up again. Having the phone's bluetooth on or off doesn't seem to make a difference either. I tried toggling airplane mode on/off with no change. I tried deleting the Action and creating a new Action with the same results.
i have set up the pre formated sleep mode using the time trigger, however, each night it shuts off before the set time. i have the night trigger set from 11pm to 1159pm everyday, the morning trigger set from 12am to 7am everyday and the weekend trigger set from 701am to 9am saturday and sunday. sometime in the wee hours of the morning it shuts itself off in the middle of the morning time frame. ive checked my phone at 3 am and 5 am to find the smart action has shut off. i have to open and close smart actions to get it to come back on. ive deleted the action, cleared cashe and started over, deleted and started from scratch and used the pre formated sleep mode. i cant think of why it stops working.
I just spent an hour and a half talking with support through chat and level 2 support through Motorola's call center. The most recent update mentions that you've "Added Support to control Notification Volume along with Ringer Volume". I had assumed that this had fixed my problem that I had with this application, but was greatly confused when it didn't.I want an action to adjust my Ringer Volume and an action to adjust my Notification Volume. I want them to be separate settings, not combined. I have read multiple threads posted previously in this forum from people complaining that they need to have the volume of their notifications all the way up, or their ringer volume up while they are sleeping for work.As a Systems Administrator I want to be able to sleep at night. I don't want to hear pinging from people emailing me at 4 AM. I work for a company that has associates all over the world, so this happens regularly. I do however NEED to have my ringer volume up in case our equipment has issues at our DC.
I understand that you want to keep the application streamlined and as simple as possible, but it really will not cause confusion to have the same volume sliders that Android has within settings. It does not seem like it would be that difficult to add the 4 volume sliders for Media, Ringtone, Notifications, and Alarms. It would actually make MUCH more sense to users than it does now. (Especially considering I spent an hour and a half on the phone with support over a poorly worded update description)
When I'm in an application that tries to open up a web URL (Google+, Twitter, other apps), I get prompted to "Complete action using" Browser, Firefox, or Opera Mini.I click the check box saying "Use by defauly for this action", but every time I click a link, I get the same prompt. On some URLs, when it redirects, I will get the message popping up three times in a row.I went to home -> settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all -> Browser and "Launch by default" says that I have "selected to launch this application bt default for some actions", but I can't see what they are. Shall I just try clicking the "Clear defaults" button there, then reassociating Browser?
So I haven't had the muted phone call audio since the update, but now I get the silent ringer and silent alarm problem which power cycling does not fix.
I get options like vibrate always which is regardless of having the volume up or having silent mode on. If i activate silent mode i want it to be silent completely. This option defeats the whole purpose or meaning of silent mode, it's a no go. The other option is vibrate only on silent mode, again not very well thought of Motorola. So i want no ringer, vibrate only without compromising my silent mode because when i want complete silence the vibrator has to go as well.
I am running 2.1 and my phone ringer stopped working a few days. No changes to the phone, or new application, or physical damage. The symptom is incoming calls vibrate, but don't ring. If I check the ringtone by selecting a different tone, it plays Ok. Volume is fine also, set for independent control for incoming volume and phone ring. I have tried power cycling, removing the battery, checking my settings, and calling from different numbers (different ring tones).
Is there a way to set up the D4 to vibrate on receipt of e-mails and text messages only when the phone is in Silent Mode? As far as I can tell, the only choices are for the notifications to vibrate all of the time or not at all. Even with Vibrate set to "only when silent," e-mails still vibrate when the ringer is turned up. Basically, I'd like everything (phone, e-mail, texts) to vibrate when in silent/vibrate mode, and to not vibrate when the ringer's turned up. I could do this pretty easily on my old HTC Incredible, but it eludes me on the D4. If this isn't possible with the stock system, are there any recommended apps that would to the trick?
If I set my phone to either vibrate or be silent, when I get a text or whats app or some other sort of notification, it rings instead of vibrate. I like the phone to be quiet in certain environments and this is killing me. I have had droid razors before and never had this issue.
From the last 3 days, after 3, 4pm, my photon turn silent, apears an icon with a bell and a red sign in front of it when i unlock de screen, when the screen is locked the bell that we move to the left to make the phone just vibrate has a bell with a line crossing in it, showing that it is silent. i looked in every place after clicked in Settings but i could not find some function that i changed, except the network configs that i move from automatic to gsm/umts only, to save more battery
How do you turn off the vibrating touchscreen keys when typing sms, emails, in browser, etc.? I've turned off "vibrate on touch" in Settings/ Sound but still get vibration in these other apps.
I would like my phone to vibrate for text messages and all other notifications when set to silent without having it vibrate at all times, is this possible? If I go to menu/settings/sound/ and select vibrate in silent mode it won't vibrate when im in silent mode. The only way for it to vibrate is to go to Text messaging/menu/messaging settings/ and select vibrate(also vibrate when notified) but this makes the phone vibrate at all times which is what I dont want. I took the phone to a sprint repair center and the display model did the same thing, the tech just thought it was weird and that was it.....
I have been using the Photon for months but can not seem to find the area that manages when the Photon goes into silent mode.I thought it was in the custom battery mode. I set it to Custom battery saver, set the Off-peak hours to start at 10pm and end at 5 am.My alarm goes off at 5:30 am but it never rings, even though I have it set in the alarm setting to do so.
I have noticed that the phone automatically changes to silent mode around 9pm and will not auto switch back until 8 or 9am. I get fustrated and set it to ring when I first use the phone in the morning. Is there some file that I need to edit to get my time window in? This is driving me a bit nuts, lol.
having an issue where notification sounds stop working after my photon has been on for 12 to 18 hours. The phone will still vibrate and function fine except for ringing or letting me know about alert/alarms. I am on the latest firmware 45.4.13 but this issue has been ongoing for the past 3 firmware upgrades I have done. I have done factore resets multiple times and ran nothing but stock apps for a full month but it contnues to happen. Honestly it does not bother me to remember to reboot by phone each night but i have missed two VERY important calls because I was in another room and did not hear it ring.
im trying to figure out whats wrong with my photon, its been almost a month and when i get a notification (email, text, ect) i dont find out untill hours after i recived it because my phone doesnt vibrate. It vibrates when i get a call and when im using the keyboard but not when i get a notification. I have the vibration for notifications turned on but it doesnt seem to affect anything. I dont get any notification vibration feedback when my phones on vibrate or its on sound.
I noticed recently that my X10 just vibrates on incoming calls even if volme is full out, but yet my text message tone is audible. I also noticed that sometimes the ringer volume is fully silent even if I havent adjusted it. I did do a software repair & it rang for just a few times after that but Im back square one!
Every time i use the left side volume button, or sound settings cog, and try to set my phone to vibrate, the ringer goes to vibrate, but the notifications automatically ho to silent. I want to set BOTH ringer and notifications to to vibrate.
I like to put my phone on silent overnight so I cannot hear incoming emails and texts. However, having 2 elderly and infirm parents living quite a distance away, I would like the phone to ring in case of emergency. This would be brother, sister, care home etc. Selective numbers so to speak. I can't find a way to do it on the phone, but note there are many apps that suggest they may work.
I can't adjust my volume as if I want to make it louder it will go to full volume and if I try to make it less it goes to silent. Additionally, the volume box stays on the screen. The buttons don't look like they are stuck but that is how they act.
I have a Blackberry 8520 and my profile ringer changes to vibrate when I put in in the holister. can anyone help me change it so it doesnt do that anymore?
I have a problem with my C902, well two actually, let me start by admitting that I got in a temper with something else and my C902 got thrown on the floor ( I know stupid but I was annoyed). Now obviously I assumed that I have merely damaged some hardware or dislodged a connector as the case got slightly damaged. So I took it apart and checked inside and nothing seems to be damaged, however I did order a new speaker/vibrator unit and fitted that anyway. The problem is still there, no sounds play at all, no alarm, no ringer, not even the test sounds from the service menu tests can be heard, the earpiece speaker still works and the vibrate motor works from the service menu tests but not for incoming calls or SMS. I have noticed that when you play a sound or music if you put the phone up to your ear the loudspeaker does hiss slightly but no actual sounds are played, I am starting to think it may be software related now. Has anyone had this problem before?. I do however have another problem, as I started to wonder if the problem was firmware related I did an update with SEUS now I have a problem that the phone turns itself off everytime it goes into standby and can only be restarted by removing the battery. How do I solve this, I guess the firmware has become corrupted, all of this was done without a memory card installed and the phone is a james bond edition on O2.
When I hook up the USB port in my car, the text alert notification is muted and the volume cannot be adjusted. This happens with both iphones operating on 5.1 and in two different vehicles. I think it has something to do with the 5.1 update.
My sounds are not working, no ringer, and no key board sound, or alerts. I have tried a total reset, I powered it down, and I turned off the vibrate tab.. The battery charge percentage is also not working now..
