Motorola :: Rizr Phone With GPS For High Altitude Experiment?
Mar 31, 2010
I'm looking for a suitable Motorola handset with GPS to deploy on a high altitude photography experiment. It needs to be able to send a regular stream of sms with GPS coordinates. This part may require an app or modding of some kind.It needs to operate on UMTS850Mhz.Can anyone think of a handset that would be suitable?
I'm evaluating if Motoactv will be suitable for my needs as minimizing weight carried is a big concern. Will be going upto 16k feet - So I wont have access to a computer for 25-30 days to move the data to the website etc. the unit will be powered off only at night. My aim is to track at minimum heart rate, pedometer, altitude, route mapping, temperature.
Q1 - Assuming I can supply the actv enough power via solar chargers etc. Will it be able to store all the tracked data for such a long period?
Q2 - I can also carry a tablet - I also need advice on if its possible to move data from the actv via usb to the tablet ( assume zero internet connectivity )
My daughter is using my old RIZR phone. I have an old copy of Mobile Phone Tools (v 2.16) which used to copy contacts back and forth to the phone. I distinctly remember a few years ago I had to update this version before it would recognize the RIZR.I haven't used this software for a while but I wanted to install it to back up her contacts. It installed fine but when I went to update, it kept saying version is already up to date. Has BVRP stopped supporting this product? Unfortunately it does not recognize the phone in the current version nor can I read the contacts off the phone.
Many of the reviews and first looks say that the BackFlip has "Voice Memo/Dialing".I've found the voice dialing, but no voice memo. There are Voice Memo apps on the market, but did one really come with the BackFlip or not?
I cannot send or recieve sms messages with my phone. this has not always been the case. At this time, it has no message center number in the settings. Whenever I try to put it in and save it, I get the message "storing SMS parameters error" Is this a SIM card issue, or a phone issue? If the handset has a nescessary update, please let me know. Has anyone else encountered this?
For those M8 users who would like to milk every drop of performance out of their phone. There is a secret High Performance Mode you can enable. It's made my M8 seem a lot quicker. But it does kill the battery life. How to enable High Performance Mode on the HTC One (M8), and why you may not really want to
I have a plan with Singtel in Singapore for my Blackberry curve 9300 (Unlimited data roam overseas) and I got a message saying I had 15 MB usage and they explained applications could be running? I just want to receive emails as normal
I just put my my m8 for fun on high performance mode and the difference is so big I'm leaving it here. Its fantastic.
Smooth with no pauses or lag. Does not even seem to get hot. Can any damage be done?
I also turned off the animations as well which could also contribute to the speed feeling really fast. My battery does not appear to be draining much faster.
I am a Sony Xperia Z5 user. I have problem while i am talking in phone the incmoming voice are too high. There is any shortcut available that could reduce the volume?. I know one option that volume botton can reduce while talking.
This post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
I'm a E72 user together with a Parrot CK3000EVO Bluetooth Car Handsfree attached to my VW Stereo.I earlier used this setup with a HTC Diamond. Back then I didn't receive phone sounds (like SMS, reminders etc) through the Handsfree. Only Phone calls were transmitted. However, with my E72 every single sound is transmitted to the BT Handsfree including Maps voice guidance. The later is OK, but it is way louder then for example Phone Call Volume. It also interrupts ongoing phone calls which is highly irritating. So I've got two questions in hope for help:Anyone knows how to tune the sound from Maps? Lower the Volume? Is there a way to stop sound like alerts, reminders, bleeps etc on the E72 to be delivered to BT Handsfree? Is there a way to stop Maps interrupting Phone Calls?
Okay, the video problem only happens when I use High resolution Video Mode( Tv and Widescreen Mode). It always lags when I play it. What happened? Is my phone capable to play High Res Video?
Can any one tell me how can I make my K800i phones sound more high and is there any software that can password my file for example: my music folder or camera folder my software info: R8BF003 prgCXC1250210_Generic_WI R8BF003 Erom: R3A022 Customization is T-Mobile Uk
I want another high end feature phone from SE. Satio is the only 12MP phone out there. Can we not have one with a good flash, more memory, 8MP camera and better video? slider? The W995 is not sitting 2nd in the phones4 u chart for nothing. The iphone is top and the satio is no where to be seen as it's a brick and useless. Touch screen phones should always be an oiption but not the standard!..oh and no Symbian either!
Just upgraded, recently, to a flash new 1520 and I absolutely love it! So big, clear and brilliant to use. However I have just discovered, this morning, that I cannot fix or set the camera function in one particular area.
I noticed that a 5mp photo gets saved along with a high-def photo when I use the Pro Cam - which I don't want to stop using because I love it - but when I went into the settings of it, I found that I cannot only keep the high-def photo alone, it is either the small res photo alone or the small and high def together and that's it, I cannot just save the high-def photo alone and if I delete the photo, they both delete.
Is there any way I can just save the high-def photo alone, by downloading an app of some sort? Would a photo file manager work? I just don't see the point in putting such a fabulous camera on a phone and having it automatically set with such odd options.
I bought Sony Xperia Z3 Dual 4 days ago and update it . I have one big problem in camera because when i want to record video , after some minutes i receive this message :
"Camera is temporarily unavailable due to high temperature. Please wait for your device to cool down before you can use the camera"
even for rear camera images are noisy in bad quality ||||
I still have not figured out what is the most efficient way to transfer the highly resoluted pictures taken with my Lumia 1520 to my Surface Pro.
Inarguably, I've adjusted the settings on my Lumia 1520 to save both a 5MP and a highly resoluted picture. Also, the automatic OneDrive upload is enabled. However, the pictures on OneDrive seem not to be the highly resoluted ones. There are files to be found with something like "_high" on my Lumia 1520 but transferring them manually is painstaking as they are among many other different files (e.g. thumbnails).
So I know with 1020, if I simply share photos on to facebook, it will use the less quality 5MP photos, so I have to download the photos manually on my laptop via usb cord with the phone or from onedrive.. But would I have to download the videos from my phone or onedrive first before uploading on to facebook too, for the highest quality *with the smallest size possible? My videos are easily half a GB!
For the past week I've been running in high accuracy location mode because, for one I wanted to see if battery saving mode really saved much battery, and, also when I do need gps it's already on. I found that any difference in battery drain is negligible because gps is almost never on unless I'm specifically using it. Also if I have a phone with certain capabilities I want to utilize those capabilities. And what you've found as far as battery drain.
I've been noticing recently that my Atrix generally only has about 20MB of free memory out of the 800MB or so of system memory. I thought Android was meant to manage the memory effectively but this appears not to the the case. One symptom of this is that it causes the webtop to regularly complain of lack of memory and results in Firefox automatically closing itself.
Has anyone else observed a high-pitched whine (fairly quiet) coming from the phone at low screen brightness levels? I would just like to know if this is a characteristic of all Atrix 2 phones or just a few (like mine).
i was wondering if anyone else had the problem with a high pitched noise in the background of a video recording during the playback of the video? I couldnt really find any good explanation over the web. i can only hear it after ive recorded the video and ive tested it in a quiet room with no interference but its still there in the background.
Does any one else still have a high pitch noise coming from the phone with headphones in? I don't primarily listen to my phone for music, so it's really not too big of a deal, but it sure is annoying. I thought the OTA was supposed to fix that. And it's not my headphones, they're beats studios.
I am running stock 5.1.1 on my Nexus 5, and have recently noticed reduced battery life. When running Quick System Info PRO, I see that "system_server - BluetoothPhoneService" is constantly consuming anywhere from 15-60% cpu, usually 20-30%. I have tried restoring all the Google factory ROMs one by one, starting with 5.0 (LRX21O) up to 5.1.1 (LMY48I), yet the issue persists. Toggling Bluetooth doesn't work and Bluetooth functions normally when needed, but is usually kept off.
since the update i have had bad battery life even without use and prior to the update my phone battery would show the display being the most used and now its the phone idle is there a reason why this is having such a high usage now when befor it was never high?
I've found in the Market many apps named like "Anti-mosquito", which claim to be able to keep mosquitos away: indeed, they achieve this by playing high-pitched sounds which are annoying to mosquitos and - yes! - they work.
Of course, this can be done by just playing repeatedly high pitched sounds, which, depending on the kind of mosquito you want to get rid off, may be in the range from 14 to 25 KHz.
Since I don't know whether playing so highly pitched sounds for a long time could damage the phone, I've asked the Italian support. They looked confused, indeed.
At first, they asked which app was I asking about and said that, anyway, all apps from the Market "are developed and managed directly by Google" (sic).
Then, when I pointed out that, put aside the fact that apps in the Market are not being developed by Google, I wasn't talking about apps and software but of particular sounds and hardware, they escalated the question to their technical department.
I was asked again which app I wanted information about (!!) and then, after telling again that I meant nothing more than playing a 14-25 KHz-pitched mp3 for a long time, they answered that no, that may not harm the phone but they couldn't be 100% sure.
I've asked them about the audio playback hardware, about who produced it and whether those latter could answer. The final answer, that they suppose is enough to close my ticket, is that "nobody could say for sure that playing high-pitched tones for a long time wouldn't damage the phone".
This is a nonsense to me, since hardware must have technical specs. Does Motorola International have got a better answer?
