Motorola Motoactv :: Music Sync Failed With Mac & Itunes?
Apr 29, 2012
I am using the MotoActv with Mac OSx Lion, all devices updated to the most recent versions. All had been working perfectly until a few days ago. Now, when I plug in via USB port to sync music and run data, MotocastUSB loads, but the message at the bottom of the screen says "Connect your Device" and all of the indicators say 0GB available. When I press the Sync button, I get a Sync complete message with Media sync:failed. Fitness sync: successful. When i then press the Sync History button, I get the message Music:writeCommandToDevice failed. No connection to device. Info for MotoAcrv indicates 10.26 GB of space available.
My internet connection is fine, I can use the webiste, it connects and everything. It just won't sync. It won't even do it over wireless. I tried restarting the device, restarting my comp, resetting the modem.Any ideas? I have about a weeks worth of runs that I'd kinda like to upload.Edit:This is an example sync history everytime i try:Start sync with "MOTOACTV" at 2012-01-07 15:35:54Syncing Fitness data with the MOTOACTV.comFitness data sync failed.Sync summarySync start time = 2012-01-07 15:35:54Sync stop time = 2012-01-07 15:36:14Windows OS = Microsoft Windows 7Device = MOTOACTVPhone model = F100USB speed = 2.xTransferred files count = 0Total Transferred files size = 0.0 BFitness data sync failed.
Had my motoactv about a month. Traveled from the US to ireland. Did a successful sync of one run here. Changed the watch to local time, and did another run - now I'm getting "Fitness data sync failed." The motoactv software tells me to check the logs for more details. I do. More details = "Fitness data sync failed.". Not a very helpful 'more details'. I'm assuming this has something to do with the time change, but upon setting the time back to Eastern, it still fails.
As of today, my month-old Motoactv will no longer sync my fitness data either through a direct USB connection or Wi-Fi network. I've synced many times over the past four weeks both ways without any trouble, but after today's run, I tried to sync and nothing happens. Motocast USB will start up when I connect to my PC, it will attempt to sync, then returns with this message:
Total Transferred files size = 0.0 B Fitness data sync failed.
Start sync with "MOTOACTV" at 2012-02-26 16:28:28 Syncing Fitness data with the MOTOACTV.com Fitness data sync failed.

When I attempt to sync via Wi-Fi, I get the error: "Network Error. Internet Connection unavailable". Everything was working until today. Now, neither options work.
My question is syncing with iTunes: does the Motoactv does this automatically, or is there some kind of workaround you have to go through to get it to pull your iTunes songs into the device? I haven't used my iPod for about a year, and I was always under the impression that you could only transfer iTunes purchases to an Apple device.
My iTunes playlists do not show up when Motocast USB launches. As such, there is no way to sync music to my device. I've been on the phone with Motorola for many hours over many days with this issue, but they haven't been able to resolve it. The issue is currently being sent to the "engenieering department," and I was told it could take weeks to get a response.Other than this issue the device works fine.I can manually add music to the device, but a $250 fitness MP3 player without playlists? No way.I've un/reinstalled the Motocast USB software several times and made sure my iTunes is up-to-date, but it seems that the two programs are not communicating with one another.(note: I have the MOTOACTV 8GB model and my macbook pro is running on OSX 10.7.2)
I'm unable to sync all of my music. The number of songs is correct when it displays in MotoCast but it only copies 187 of 1759 songs. The sync history shows an error.
Syncing Fitness data with the MOTOACTV.com Fitness data sync successful. Sync summary Sync start time = 2012-09-21 20:31:02
From what I have read, music from Apple's iTunes and Window's Media Player can be used to sync music and playlists. Does anyone know if this also works for Songbird?
A big reason I switched to Android 2 years ago was to finally drop iTunes and WMP has never been a very appealing tool for managing my music. It strikes me as odd that an Android device would be dependent on an Apple or Windows product but perhaps I am misunderstanding this.
I am trying to sync itunes with the Motoactv using the USB cord. As of right now I can see all of the prepopulated itunes playlists in MotoCast (ie 90s music, recently added) but none of the playlists I have created myself nor does it display the full population of music I currently have in itunes (306 in MotoCast versus 910 in itunes). When I go to sync it says the sync was successful but that 0 files were transferred. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or a different want to get this to sync. I am currently running Window XP, MotoCast Version 1.7.0151.0, and ITunes Version 10.5.3.3.
I just tried syncing music to my MotoACTV. It was going along fine, and then I got an error along the lines of "There is a network failure on drive F:. The data is lost." I have done a factory reset, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the motocast software. When I try to sync, it goes through the "Analyzing files" stage and then gets to "Syncing Music to Device" and freezes. I have tried syncing several different playlists, and nothing works.
I've been trying to sync phone to get music from Itunes. Tried Double twist... when connected my computer says there was a problem and it had to close. Send report...blah blah blah. Okay... so this didn't work. I down loaded tunesync..looks like a great app... somehow I cannot not get it to sync my playlists or music whether using wifi or usb connection. Says it's searching for connection.
When I am trying to sync music from Itunes to my Photon through the Motorola Media Link software I get a error message after all the music files have transfered. The message says that the MLL has stopped working. None of the music ends up on the phone.
I have updated the Motorla Media software and as far as I know my phone is up to date.
I just bought an iPhone 4S. I tried to sync all my favorite apps from iTunes to my new iPhone 4S i just bought. But I don't know what happen that some of apps successfully sync to iPhone 4S and some of the app said "failed to install" on my iPhone screen.
I have been having a problem syncing my iphone 4s with my desktop mac. I have downloaded the latest version of itunes. I had no problems syncing before and this is the first time I am encountering this. Error message reads, "The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."
Is there a way that the music on/off button could be used to advance to the next song (in a future update of course)? I run to the music beat and sometimes want to speed up/sloww down the music selection without stopping to advance the music. Just a thought
When I go to the music player and select a song to play, I get a message that tells me to plug in my headphones. The issue is that my headphones are plugged in. I didn't have this issue a week ago. I was listening to my music just fine. I have rebooted the device several times already. The weird thing is that I can hear the boot up sounds through my headphones, as well as notifications. I just can't play music. I have the same issue with the FM radio.
After my MOTOACTV 8GB came from warranty (from Moto, obviously), Motocast USB offered me an software update. I ran before the software update and sync'd to my motoactv.com account. After I installed the software update, my Motoactv DOES NOT SYNC with my account.I tried everything: sync with my laptop (Mac OS X Lion, last update), sync with wi-fi, sync after power off/power on, sync after reboot (start+power), sync after reboot of my laptop, sync after "factory reset". DOES NOT SYNC.
Then I tried a new account on motoactv.com. Now it does sync! The I tried to login to motoactv.com page -the new version is UGLY and DOES NOT WORK in Mac OS X Lion' Safari, why we need ads on that page? I BOUGHT, I OWN one MOTOACTV 8GB- and I can login to my old account, all my OLD info is there, but I want to put my new info, my new stats there. The watch does sync with my new account, DOES NOT SYNC with my old account. Then I tried to "factory reset" and to sync with old account... STILL DOES NOT SYNC.Today, I ran, and phone DOES NOT SYNC with new account neither... then I "factory reset" and it does sync with new account, but it DOES NOT SYNC with old account.
Operating latest iTunes and iOS software. iTunes recognizes my iPhone. When I select music to sync in iTunes, when syncing the sync bar skips over syncing music (goes1-2-4-5).
Previously I added one album to the phone. Now today when I attempted to syncmore music the album disappeared from my phone (even tho it was checked to sync in iTunes) and I now have no music on the phone.
Since downloading IOS 5.1.1 my selected music in iTunes will not download to my iphone 3GS. Never had this problem before. The itunes library shows all the albums I want to sync checked off and even when I connect the iphone with the sync cable the songs will not be synced. I've looked at all settings and everything looks the same as it always has. I did get a new iphone 3GS recently to replace a stolen one but all settings remain the same other then the new software 5.5.1.
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5, Main syncing computer is MacBook
Because since it messes up using the wireless and you can't view the details on the website. So I have been using the usb and now all of sudden it doesn't sync the workouts.
I can't find any info on if there is some special way to sync the workout using the usb.
After jailbreaking and getting my phone exactly the way I want it, I've decided I don't want to have to use iTunes to manage my music and Apps. I just reformatted my PC, and now iTunes wants me to totally wipe my iPhone and start over - this is unacceptable.
So I would like to manage my music outside of iTunes, but prefereably still using the iPod app as opposed to a third party one. I did a quick search and found nothing on the forums. Googling has led me to a few ideas, but they all seem dated. I am not familiar enough with SSH to figure this one out by myself.
Apps may be trickier, but there are a number of apps I have downloaded through Cydia, etc. that I would need to re-download if I wiped my phone.
Any tips or advice would be great here. Each successful thread I post takes me one step closer to leaving Big Brother out of my smartphone experience!
My new iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) won't sync apps or music from iTunes in my win7 operating system unless if they downloaded from i tunes store, and the sync does't work if the source of apps is a CD or DVDs!
I have purchased 4 MP3 music albums from Amazon. Their MP3 downloader software automatically ports the music over to iTunes, and the tracks appear in my iTunes library on my PC. However when I synch my iPhone this music does not move over to my iPhone.
My iPhone options include "manually manage music and videos" - is this a possible factor? When I check under Music, there is an unchecked box by "Synch Music." However if I check this box it will synch the entire music library.
My music from iTunes downloads or CD imports has always synched with no problem, so I am wondering if this problem has to do with the source being Amazon.
My device has found my library once, and I realized afterwards that it was an old library file because it included podcasts from 4-5 months ago. My "itunes library.itl" file is found here in Windows 7: %userprofile%My Musicitunes (if you put that into windows explorer it will bring me to the file, which is actually found in a non-standard location on a 2nd internal hard on my computer.
Would it be possible to change the sync program to look at relative URL's for "My Music" such as %userprofile%My Musicitunes instead of direct URL's like I'm guessing it is doing? this syncing tell me both the relative and direct URL for their ITL file?
I just purchased this device tonight and installed everything with no issues. I get the screen where it allows you to choose the music from itunes, but all of the playlists are empty. My library is found in "Documents/Music/itunes", but not on the drive letter that Windows 7 (64 bit) is running from. Could this be my problem?
