I rebooted my phone then downloaded and installed the 4.5.602 update. Took less than 10 minutes to install then when the X started back up it displayed an "Update Failed" message on the slide to unlock screen. Going to Settings > About phone does show a system version of 4.5.602.
View 15 RepliesI just noticed this, and I'm not sure how long it's been happening, but I can't find any setting to get the phone to vibrate when I receive a text message. I can have it make a sound or be silent, and the phone vibrates just fine when I get a call.

In settings/sound & notification, the notification volume is turned all the way up, and it's also set to vibrate for calls. She receives audio notification of other messages(Facebook, pintrest). We have Verizon for our provider.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I awoke to an update notification from VZW indicating that an OTA update was available for my D2G.I downloaded the update which took ~25 minutes it went through the restart and installed the software and then upon an auto restart after installation the phone showed a new M logo, transitioned to the pulsating droid logo and is stuck there.I've tried restarting the phone several time with no luck.

Accepted an OTA update this morning (verizon, not sure what code it was, I didn't look closely enough). Update failed and phone now only boots to bootloader. I have tried the power up while holding X key, and that gets me to triangle and droid guy, but from the search key does nothing, I cannot get the menu up to reset the phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAirtime FREE VZW software update! Due to network changes you must dial *228 in VZW coverage area, press SEND & choose Option 1 to reprogram phone.I tried it for kicks. It won't let you on a 4G device with a SIM card. The message tells me "SIM card has activated your service and updated your phone's roaming capabilities."So I guess with the SIM we no longer have to update roaming using *228 as in the past. I am guessing Verizon sent the message by mistake.

I got an error message that the update failed & now my iphone only shows a pic of a usb cable with an arrow pointing to the itunes logo.I already tried holding down the on off buton & the home button like the instructions say. Problem is that when the instructions say I should be at the part where itunes is again recognizing my iphone, my itune is not recognizing my iphone. So I am stuck. I follow the instrustions, but the resluts are different, so I can`t continue to the next step. Very frustrated, as the nearest Apple store is over an hour`s drive away.

For some reason, I have not received a notification on my X to upgrade to GB. Possibly, it is due to the phone being registered out of MI, with a MI area code, and the phone and myself, are actually located in a western state. Irregardless, I have not received any notification of an upgrade and before I go looking for it, is it really worthwhile at this time, or should I wait until all the bugs I'm reading about are fixed?My X with Froyo, is operating great. No problems other than maybe once a week a freeze up that requires a battery pull. Since I came from the BB world, and I also carry a BB tour for work, battery pulls are no big deal and almost seems natural.I read about problems, not only here, but on a few other forums. I read where people have to take their phones into the local Verizon store for service after GB upgrade. That is not a good option for me, since this involves a 120 mile trip to the nearest Verizon store
View 10 Replies View RelatedI noticed this last night, it may not be when it actually started though. When I am connected to WiFi my 3G icon disappears. If I turn off the WiFi my 3G pop backs on fairly quickly. This is how my Milestone X used to work and I noticed as soon as I got my Bionic that the 3G icon would stay on even when connected to WiFi even though it wasn't actually being used. Now sometimes at night it would disappear which I always attributed to the battery saver settings, but then today it is the same, which has never happened. When connected to WiFi the 3G icon is gone. I actually prefer it this way, and I'm not complaining, but I have not received any updates or anything so I don't know why this would have changed.

I have tried sending as "shared" using again several different email programs, but they all distort original email. Some change the formatting and if lucky put all jpgs at end, and not within text,or delete them completely.
Similar problems appear if it is a text message with embedded photos or illustrations. If I go to my desktop and forward the email or text message it gets to its detination correctly.

For the most part, this is not noticeable, but in some cases (such as having your phone off), it is. It is more useful to know the time a message is sent, than received on your phone.A side effect of this is, if you use a program to restore your SMS threads, the dates will all be lost. On other phones, such as the Droid, restoring threads does not lose the timestamp. This is disappointing because after upgrading to my new phone, I have lost all context for my SMS threads.

I check the account and my password which should show as ******* now shows as ****************************. Who or what is adding the extra digits to my password. It's a yahoo/sbcglobal account. I've been having similar problems with corporate account at the office.

All received texts (regardless of sender) are stamped 4 hours earlier than when they were actually sent. Makes threaded messaging a real pain.
Stock text message app is fine, as is Handcent. The problem seems to be isolated to GO SMS Pro (my preferred SMS app) and ICS Messaging (stock ICS-like). I have uninstalled both and reinstalled with no change.
I'm getting a lot of conflicting info on whether or not the Bionic has a LED to notify me when I receive an Email or text.

I have vibrate on text message receipt turned on. My phone will vibrate indicating I have received a message but there is nothing in the notification bar or in the list of text messages. I know that it is a failure to receive because I often text people asking them if they just texted me and I almost always find who it was. They resend and I get it. I can't seem to find a trend as to what the root cause may be. Is this a known issue that is expected to get addressed in one of the upcoming patches or do I need to report it to Motorola to look into?
I am having an issue after the latest .173 OTA update from VZW. Update sucessfully went through but the problem came after the reboot. Under the notification bar it says 'SIM removed' and under that (fills the entire screen) says "the sim card was recently removed, sign in to your account to verify identity'. Sim was not removed. It gives Gmail and password option. When I input my password it says "your username or password is incorrect. Please check them and try again". Password is correct, as I can sign into my google account. I've tried pulling the sim while off, insert, restart, same deal.
If I don't input anything into password, it says "please enter your MOTOBLUR account and password to log in". I do not have a motoblur account.
There is always an option for a factory reset, but didnt want to go that route yet.
Im trying to create and application on for my Droid 3 but when i connect the phone to my computer it starts to install the driver but then says driver installation failed.Also, when i turn on debugging for my Droid it doesnt show up on my phone. Im sure this is because of the failed installation.

Sometimes it doesn't get my touch inputs, other times it goes into "automatic mode" with continuous random inputs until I turn off the screen.According to a phone shop person I interviewed, this has to do with the touchscreen's digitizer. Do you have any comment on that?This phone has always been handled with care - never dropped, never wet, absolutely spotless - and thus how this could fail on me after just 6 months of use is beyond belief. I am currently on travel in the USA, and wonder if the guarantee is international???
