Has anyone received the April 14th maintenance update to System version 4.5.621.A955 yet? I'm hoping that it will stop my wife's Droid 2 from almost inevitable spontaneous reboots after shutting down. url...It hasn't shown up on her phone as of 5:30 PM EDT Saturday. Same old "up to date" message.
View 2 RepliesSo I awoke to an update notification from VZW indicating that an OTA update was available for my D2G.I downloaded the update which took ~25 minutes it went through the restart and installed the software and then upon an auto restart after installation the phone showed a new M logo, transitioned to the pulsating droid logo and is stuck there.I've tried restarting the phone several time with no luck.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rebooted my phone then downloaded and installed the 4.5.602 update. Took less than 10 minutes to install then when the X started back up it displayed an "Update Failed" message on the slide to unlock screen. Going to Settings > About phone does show a system version of 4.5.602.

Possibly, it is due to the phone being registered out of MI, with a MI area code, and the phone and myself, are actually located in a western state. Irregardless, I have not received any notification of an upgrade and before I go looking for it, is it really worthwhile at this time, or should I wait until all the bugs I'm reading about are fixed?My X with Froyo, is operating great. No problems other than maybe once a week a freeze up that requires a battery pull. Since I came from the BB world, and I also carry a BB tour for work, battery pulls are no big deal and almost seems natural.I read about problems, not only here, but on a few other forums. I read where people have to take their phones into the local Verizon store for service after GB upgrade. That is not a good option for me, since this involves a 120 mile trip to the nearest Verizon store
View 10 Replies View RelatedI noticed this last night, it may not be when it actually started though. When I am connected to WiFi my 3G icon disappears. If I turn off the WiFi my 3G pop backs on fairly quickly. This is how my Milestone X used to work and I noticed as soon as I got my Bionic that the 3G icon would stay on even when connected to WiFi even though it wasn't actually being used. Now sometimes at night it would disappear which I always attributed to the battery saver settings, but then today it is the same, which has never happened. When connected to WiFi the 3G icon is gone. I actually prefer it this way, and I'm not complaining, but I have not received any updates or anything so I don't know why this would have changed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried several email programs, including K9, and when I receive an email with photos embedded, they dissappear when forwarded.
I have tried sending as "shared" using again several different email programs, but they all distort original email. Some change the formatting and if lucky put all jpgs at end, and not within text,or delete them completely.
Similar problems appear if it is a text message with embedded photos or illustrations. If I go to my desktop and forward the email or text message it gets to its detination correctly.

For the most part, this is not noticeable, but in some cases (such as having your phone off), it is. It is more useful to know the time a message is sent, than received on your phone.A side effect of this is, if you use a program to restore your SMS threads, the dates will all be lost. On other phones, such as the Droid, restoring threads does not lose the timestamp. This is disappointing because after upgrading to my new phone, I have lost all context for my SMS threads.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I've been unable to access emails on my D2G. I receive a notification tone and light but when I go to email it tells me it can't establish a connection. I check the account and my password which should show as ******* now shows as ****************************. Who or what is adding the extra digits to my password. It's a yahoo/sbcglobal account. I've been having similar problems with corporate account at the office.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the past week, my D4 has been putting incorrect time stamps on incoming text messages when using certain non-stock text messaging apps. All received texts (regardless of sender) are stamped 4 hours earlier than when they were actually sent. Makes threaded messaging a real pain.
Stock text message app is fine, as is Handcent. The problem seems to be isolated to GO SMS Pro (my preferred SMS app) and ICS Messaging (stock ICS-like). I have uninstalled both and reinstalled with no change.
I just noticed this, and I'm not sure how long it's been happening, but I can't find any setting to get the phone to vibrate when I receive a text message. I can have it make a sound or be silent, and the phone vibrates just fine when I get a call.

I have vibrate on text message receipt turned on. My phone will vibrate indicating I have received a message but there is nothing in the notification bar or in the list of text messages. I know that it is a failure to receive because I often text people asking them if they just texted me and I almost always find who it was. They resend and I get it. I can't seem to find a trend as to what the root cause may be. Is this a known issue that is expected to get addressed in one of the upcoming patches or do I need to report it to Motorola to look into?
When I receive a text message as a member of a group, how do I respond to only one person such as the sender only? All I see is Respond All.

In settings/sound & notification, the notification volume is turned all the way up, and it's also set to vibrate for calls. She receives audio notification of other messages(Facebook, pintrest). We have Verizon for our provider.

I didnt record the full update number/version.I gave the ok to download and install after reading the warning that it might take up to 7 minutes to complete.It has locked with the red dot "M" logo for 30 minutes.What should I do now? Holding the power button does not turn it off , no buttons get any response. I am about to pull the battery and restart but I fear I might cobble up the update and cause more harm.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an R2D2 Droid 2 that I (foolishly) flashed over to the standard Droid 2 system version, in order to run the Gingerbread build for it that came out a couple weeks ago. At the time, I was convinced that the R2 would not be getting a GB build, so I jumped the gun.
Now that the official R2 GB has been released, I would really like to get back to stock. It's kind of the whole reason I bought this phone instead of a regular Droid 2. Unfortunately, along the way I've managed to lose my stock image for the R2, and AFAIK there has never been an SBF released for the R2.
I've been trying for at least a month to come up with a solution to this problem, have scoured the internet (and noticed a lot of people that have had the same problem), and have pretty much run out of ideas at this point. I also know that rooting and flashing aren't necessarily condoned by Motorola in general, but does anyone have any other ideas on how I could get back to stock R2, Froyo or GB, at this point?
I know the update is supposed to be rolling out today, and according to vzw you're supposed to be able to do a manual update but every time i check it says i'm up to date and no update is available. so what is the official status is it live or not? or are you only able to do manual if you have an unlocked phone.

As a consumer I would have expected the newest model of the Motorola family to have been shipped with Gingerbread but seing the old model Droid X receive it before the X2 is a little puzzling.
View 15 Replies View RelatedThe update has made the wi-fi next to unusable. I have removed the Wi-Fi connection and re-entered it. Power cycled the phone, done a battery pull. Nothing fixes the issue. Try running a speed test it either fails consistently with "network communication failure" or the bandwidth is horrendous. I never had such issues before the update. The issue is not only at home even at work. I was wondering if others were seeing such abysmal performance. I have NEVER rooted my phone. I wish I had and switched to community ROM, they seem to be doing a better job than a corporation like Motorola. I just wish Motorola never updated this phone, every update has caused the phones performance to deteriorate. The Droid X could have been a worthy successor to the Droid but Motorola just screwed it up. I have been a loyal motorola and verizon customer for close to 10 years now. When my contract gets done one thing is for certain I will never ever be buying another Motorola device nor will I ever recommend a Motorola device ever again. Releasing half a dozen devices every year is only what Motorola is good at
View 13 Replies View RelatedUpdated to GB this morning, and phone has been hone has basically been on charge all day.Wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS are all off, yet my battery seems to actually be dropping, despite being plugged in and charging indicator blinking as normal. Anyone else with this issue Perhaps my battery is failing and in need of replacement, but quite coincidental that same day as the update.

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I noticed that neither one of our Droid Xs can get the GPS to lock on.Before the latest update we both were using the gps while in Chicago and on the way back to New York the week of August 1rst.This week we can't get the gps to work on either phone; it will continually keep searching and searching.I've been trying for three days now.We have tried 3rd party gps apps and that will not work.We have tried rebooting both phones and pulling batteries, and it still will not fix the problem. Everything else works on the phone- wifi, blue tooth, calls, etc.

View 8 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days my GPS will freeze once it's obtained a fix on my position. If I open a new application that uses the GPS, it will obtain a new fix, but again freeze as soon as it's done so. This issue is consistent across all GPS applications I've tried (Google Maps, Navigation, Waze, GPS Status, GPS Test). It also happens regardless of whether the phone is in my car dock or not.
