Motorola Droid X :: Maps Application Locking Up Whole System
May 25, 2011This just happened. It's happened before in the past. When I open the maps application, it will completely lock up the phone and I have to do a battery pull.

Motorola Droid X2 :: Swype - Outdated System Application
Aug 16, 2011It's great that Swype was included with the X2 so I didn't have to downlaod it, but the fact that it's a system application means it can't be altered and therefore we're stuck with an outdated version. I can understand that the included version was probably current when the Froyo firmware was written for the phone, but to not update Swype to the current version when you rolled out Gingerbread or remove it so we can update it ourselves doesn't make any sense. If I want to have the current version, which is improved, I have to root my phone to remove Swype so I can put it back on. Any plans to change this so we can actually control what's on our phones and keep the apps up-to-date? BTW, Swype's already got another version on the way. [URL]

Sep 3, 2011Looked thru the archives and couldn't find this topic. My DROID X started locking up last night when I was doing an email. It's locked up several times today, too. I've been trying to see a pattern to it. Email or text messaging, it's when I hit one of the punctuation keys. Either the period, question, or exclamation mark, each time. I've not put any new apps on my phone since Wednesday. Anyone else have this happen? Suggestions on how to stop it or fix it? Only way I could get out of it was to power it off, but this last time, I had to pull the battery as it wouldn't even power off.

Jul 26, 2011I've created a folder on one of my home screens named, "Finance."I've placed about ten apps in said folder (e.g., Quote Pro, Tradefiields, Tip Calc, Bank of America, etc. etc.)I'm attempting to keep like apps together (i.e., all stock apps appearing as the first few apps, followed by "bank related apps, followed by types of calculators, etc.)However, everytime I arrange these apps in this manner, then return later, they are all mixed up, no longer honoring my attempt to categorize them.There is no rhyme or reason as to how they then appear, as far as I can discern.They do not then show up as alphabetized, or any other logical way, ah!, unless by size of app or something like that, you think? all that said, does anyone know of a way to "lock" apps in the order they are placed, so as they remain grouped?

Oct 17, 2011Got the bionic gps locked instantly and withing 6-10 meters. This morning i tried navigation to find dentist new location. The gps never locked so it was useless to me. I did not change anything either. I left gps on entire time i was in dentist office when i came out still no lock. Just now after about 20 minutes screen on it locked but one problem its off more than 3/4 of a mile.

Jul 28, 2010This phone has been incredibly slow when using OVI maps or just at random times there will be no response from any buttons. I just had a "lock up" event and the flash bulb turned on by itself and stayed on until I removed the battery. Very slow to get to camera mode as well, sometimes up to ONE MINUTE before it starts up.

Feb 4, 2010I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?

Apr 17, 2010I am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.

I can make calls fine, but the only data that transfers to the MB display is the phone numbers, no names or information. I have previously paired a Palm Pre, Droid X, iPhone 3G, HTC Thunderbolt(couldn't stand it, way too many problems/issues) and all of them paired fine and the data transferred showing name, place (work/cell/home) and the phone number in either numerical or alphabetical order.

Mar 28, 2012I did the system update on my Razr Maxx today & when it restarted, it said that my SIM card was recently removed & that I needed to verify my Motoblur password. Well, I didn't know what that was so my phone was totally locked. I got home & looked it up & it wanted me to put in my Motocast password. I did that & then it told me that it looked like my carrier was Verizon & that it did not support Motoblur. What the heck. So I had to do a full system reset.

Sep 17, 2011I have been having issues with my screen locking up after the screen times out and shuts off or when I turn the screen off. This dosent happen every time but at least once or twice a day. Are there any files or something I can flash that will allow me to try and format everything and start over? Nov 4, 2011Ever since the last system update, the Contact Groups I created have an icon with a padlock next to them and I have no capacity to edit their content.
I can create new Groups (I assume, because there's a button that says I can), but can't change existing ones. I've tried going to the individual contacts to see if the group designation reside there now, etc. I'm wondering if this is tied to Verizon's Backup Assistant, somehow, though my groups don't appear on the web interface for that service at all.

Jun 16, 2012Starting yesterday I have seen the above message 3 times. The only thing I have changed on the phone was to enable Motocast yesterday. Also, I replaced the 16GB SD card with a 32GB SD card, early last week. I've only had the phone for about a month. I have been able to power the phone off and reboot and get the phone functioning again. Last night it took 2 reboots before the phone became functional again. What can I look for to determine whats causing the error?

It used to be handy for dialing extension numbers, authorization codes etc. but they seem to be ignored after the update. There is also no apparent way to edit a phone number with any character other than the ones on the dialpad.
