Motorola Droid X :: Bypass Activation After Factory Reset?
Aug 5, 2011I bought a used DROID X from a friend to use only with Wi-Fi, not with Verizon service. It worked fine with only Wi-Fi even though it had no service. I did a Factory Reset to wipe it clean. Now when it comes up it goes to the activation screen and will not go past it, forcing activation to continue. I do not wish to activate the phone with Verizon, only use it with Wi-Fi. Does anyone know how I can get the phone back to working with Wi-Fi only? Is there an Android ROM version I can download from somewhere and load on this phone so that it does not force activation?

Jun 30, 2012I am having an issue where i receive the standard unlock screen even though I have a password configured. If I use the slide menu I am never prompted for my password. There are also times when the normal unlock screen will flash up and then go straight to my password.
Current configuration: PIN, lock screen after 5 sec, lock immediatly on power press.
This only happens when I allow the screen to go to sleep on it's own. If i press the power button I am not seeing the issue.

The majority of the screen is taken up by the green stuff which serves absolutely no purpose and to get to the screen with all the icons I need to click on the BB button. Nov 9, 2011The last time the display functioned I was starting a play-list for my shower. I adjusted the volume once or twice without lighting the screen, and after drying off stopped the music by removing the speaker jack again without lighting the screen. The device then went into my shirt pocket and I ate dinner then watched a movie but when I tried to do a little surfing before bed the screen wouldn't light up. I had seen it light up the buttons but take a few seconds for the display when the CPU was busy so I waited, nothing happened. I pulled the battery and tried again, nothing on the screen. But then I discovered that the touch sensor was still functioning, I could swipe to unlock and power down in the standard fashion just blind. I have examined the water stickers they are both white with bright red X's.
While writing this question (I am sure many of you already know this fact) I discovered that the display of my device is in fact three distinct functional parts. The capacitive touch screen still in operation on my device, the LCD image generator also still in operation, and the Led illumination source which for lack of a more accurate description is burned out.So my question is how could this occur, is it software or hardware, and what are my recourses?

May 20, 2011So I recently have been having problems with my phone and its screen not turning on. Its the original droid and I guess alot have people have had this problem. But I am at a fork in the road:(this is the thrid time the screen has done this)Last night I went to check my phone and it appeared to be off, my power button does not work so I have to plug it in to turn it on. But the charger light was on so that meant the phone was already on. the buttons lit up still as well. Being this is not the first time I took the battery out for about an hour and put it back in, plugged it in, and still nothing. The M sign that comes up when you first turn it on doesen't appear and neither does anything else on the screen. But when i recieved a call I could answer the call like the screen was working but still was not on. I left the battery out all night from 8pm-6am and still nothing but i can still answer the calls. Left it out until 2 this afternoon and still nothing. I have no idea what to do.

Jun 16, 2012I tried to restore my iphone to factory settings and now I am stuck at the activation screen. The message reads"Your Iphone could not be activated because the activation Server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iphone to iTunes to activate or try again in a couple of minutes". I am going on 3 days now. The phone is connected to my computer. Itunes is open but there is no indication that the iphone is connected. Apple support told me via email to uninstall itunes and re-install it. I did but the result is the same. When I try to restore/activate it appears to process and the following mesage appears" It may take up to 3 minutes to activate your iphone" but after the time expires it goes right back to the message above. When I hold down the home button, Emergency Call, Start Over, WiFi Settings and Cancel buttens appear. Nothing else works with or without the SIm card removed. Currently only my Wifi connection seems to register.

Mar 9, 2012Droid X running stock .621, rooted.
As of a few days ago, my screen keeps flashing on for maybe a 1/2 second every few minutes or so. I don't think it always happens 24/7, but I've caught it happening a lot. It does eems to happen shortly after a reboot as well. The screen goes off nearly immediately. It definitely doesn't time out and go off after 1 minute, like it would if I manually turned it on.
Perhaps it's an app update gone bad or something else, It doesn't appear to be drastically affecting battery life.
I have the betterbatterystats app and with 5 hours since counters were reset, awake time doesn't appear to be abnormal (it's at 30% right now with 16% screen on time). If I look at partial wakelocks, the largest one is AlarmManager at 13m and 55s. Nothing else is over 4 minutes.
I do have Yahoo Sportacular giving me sports score notifications and K-9 giving me email notifications, but I'm nearly certain that I've caught the screen coming on plenty of times when I didn't have any notification come in.
How can I figure out what's causing my screen to come on by itself rather frequently?
