i thought maybe it was because of no 3/4G coverage, but just moments ago, after removing/reinstalling the SIM card, I just got 4G back and still can't check for updates. I hope my replacement phone doesn't suffer from this glitch. this is getting very aggravating! I've been without data coverage since Weds morning, other than for a few moments, here and there and only after a SIM card pull.
View 15 RepliesI noticed this last night, it may not be when it actually started though. When I am connected to WiFi my 3G icon disappears. If I turn off the WiFi my 3G pop backs on fairly quickly. This is how my Milestone X used to work and I noticed as soon as I got my Bionic that the 3G icon would stay on even when connected to WiFi even though it wasn't actually being used. Now sometimes at night it would disappear which I always attributed to the battery saver settings, but then today it is the same, which has never happened. When connected to WiFi the 3G icon is gone. I actually prefer it this way, and I'm not complaining, but I have not received any updates or anything so I don't know why this would have changed.

Doesn't really seem to matter how big of an update -- I can't pull down the status bar, task switching appears frozen, etc.

I've had my Droid Bionic since October 2011 and I have tried to run a system update once or twice a month but it never finds an update. It is always stuck on "Checking for available update. (Voice commands and such) One had to go and only one could be uninstalled. A simple app update could possibly be an easy fix. At a Verizon store today I was checking out the RAZR. View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter doing recent updates, the normal swipe-to-unlock feature of my Bionic stopped working. When I press the power button, I'm taken right to the home screen; I don't have to unlock. Even if I use Settings -> Location & Security and add a PIN or pattern lock, these do not work; each time I turn the phone back on, I go right back to the home. Sometimes the swipe screen flashes up but then disappears. The "Security lock timer" setting does not matter (i.e. it is set to 1 minute, but even after that, the phone is never locked. Occurs even after a hard reboot (shutdown, remove battery, power back up), although sometimes the swipe to unlock works for a short time. I've never rooted this phone or done much else beside install some apps from the Android Market. I do have Lookout running.

This morning I thought I'd check for updates, but was surprised to find that the "System updates" option on the "About phone" option from the Settings menu is disabled (greyed out).
I am currently "roaming" in Canada and have network data disabled, but am using WiFi. Could my location be impacting this? I have done a reboot.
Meanwhile my LTE XOOM still has the corresponding option available, but it has not connected to the network at all (data roaming disabled) since I have been in Canada.
I have three accounts on my phone for email. I have always received updates based on my gmail account.It worked that way on my Droid 1, and it still does on my Asus Transformer.All of a sudden, I'm getting reminders for updates on my other two email accounts.It will say "1 update on xxxx. 1 update on yyyy. 3 updates on gmail.I can't find a setting to get rid of the other accounts. The "account" item in the settings ask me to choose which account.The gmail account is chosen. The others aren't (radio button, can't have more than one even if I wanted that).

My problem is when I try to use hands free calling with my Clarion CX609 head unit, the microphone does not connect. I hear the call through the speakers as expected but the phone is still using the built in microphone. After the OTA release of 5.9.902 I still don't have connectivity to my external microphone.I had a Blackberry Tour and it connected and worked perfectly fine. I would think my Bionic would work in the same manner only better.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo i am on my 4th bionic it seems that my signal is always weak. The signal bar in batter use stats is always yellow and grey rarely green. My battery dies faster after update 50% only 4 hours off charger. The thing getting to the most is when i pull phone out of pocket and unlock it the data never works i tried everything rebooting or airplane mode do not fix it. I usually have to pull battery. I did factory reset twice since update. Does this mean i have get #5 ordered for me?

View 6 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to sign in for a few weeks, but I keep getting told my account has been upgraded to a MotoCast ID. That's very nice and all, but I never get any e-mail from Motorola, even though I'm told my validation will be sent to my e-mail address (listed as on file). I had to create a new MotoCast ID (with a different e-mail address) in order to post to ask this question and for help, as I've requested a password reset a few times and none of them go to my e-mail.My old ID was part of the Motorola Feedback Network and contains the IMEI of my phone, and everything I'd need; this makes me think I could even have been invited into the soak test for the Bionic, but not received any e-mails (I was in at least one previous soak test). Can someone let me know how I can get my old account restored? This is kind of a big deal to me, and (by my understanding) was also a source of frustration the last time Motorola changed the way accounts worked.

Open Applications tray, select My Accounts
Select Add Account
You will be at the Set-Up accounts menu with several other social network icons
Tap on Corporate Sync:
Enter: Domain nameuser name
Enter Password
Use secure server should be checked.
Enter Email address
Enter Exchange Server Address
Tap on Next to submit settings.
Handset will check with server and verify if successful. If you receive error could not auto detect server, touch OK to manually enter the server name. It then appears that I have connected to my exchange. I can then open up the email account settings and review/change the settings and I will always get the prompt that the update was successful. The connection error only appears when I open the account to check the inbox. The refresh symbol keeps spinning and eventually times out with the connection error.
I've been using my Bionic for about 24 hrs now (pretty heavy useage) and only 3 items show up in the "Battery and Data Manager":
Southwest Airlines App (96%)
Cell Standby (2%)
Phone Idle (2%)
That's it. I've used about 30 different apps and I've had WiFi on and off, I've been on LTE and switched to CDMA only for a bit. I've tried out the GPS, used Google Talk, the browser and a bunch of other stuff that I know takes up battery life and I want to know what is killing the battery? Is there a fix for the Battery and Data Manager or somewhere else on the phone I can look for this info?
I took one picture with the phone and a day later the phones front and rear facing camera are not working. i called motorola and did a battery pull as well as factory reset and still not working.my next step is to go back to verizon wireless and see what they can do. did anyone have this problem?
