Motorola Droid Bionic :: Any Way To Get Back Door Without Extended Battery
Oct 26, 2011My battery door has become very weak and creaky since I have to do so many battery pulls. I have the extended battery and it seems the only way to get a new one is to buy another battery. My back door barely stays on. Also, are there any plans on marketing skins for the external battery? This would make the phone feel more solid and protect the bezel from scratches.

Jun 19, 2012I bought the extended battery - P893. It was fully charged when conneected to my phone. My phone had @ 10% batter life left. The extended charger bumped the charge up to 60% with no extraneous processes running. The delivered cusomt smart action for the extended battery was activated. That seemed a bit low given the product description and mention on the boards of delivery two full charges. I fully recharged the battery. When my phone was depleted to 20% I connected the extended battery again. The charge was brought up to 60%. Their was no charge left in the battery extender.

I dont believe its a faulty battery as I have a second battery and will have the same problem with that one.Yesterday I hardly used my phone. I was at home ( which is in a weak signal area) and when I checked the phone at around 8pm it was dead. Off with no charge left. Started the day with an overnight charge.
If the problem is an overactive app how can I find it and remove?

Sep 15, 2011I just had this happen yesterday. I was getting on a flight and powered off my phone. I had about 40% when I powered down. When I got off the flight, my phone wouldn't power up, so I found an outlet and found that I had no power. I know I powered it off, and so why would it be out of juice when it had battery left when I powered down?

Jan 3, 2012Since .893 I've seen the % of battery used by 'Android OS' to be significantly higher than before. Previously (after 12 or more hours of uptime) I'd typically always have Display as the highest %. Now it's always Android OS. Right now I'm at 16 hours on battery and my Android OS is 64% at 44 min. My Display is only 7 min.
All the same apps since before .893 and no new ones. Factory reset has made no difference in this. if this is something known and to be addressed in .901 ?

Dec 15, 2011I used to get pretty good life out of my stock bionic battery. I updated the OTA update early today and since then the battery level has been going down at almost 10% every 30 - 40 mins. Following is the list in my battery usage queue. This is after I did a system reset and left my phone without any new apps (except for facebook).
Display 30%
Android System 17%
com.motorola.contacts 12%
Android OS 9%
com.motorola.home 8% ....
I am planning to charge it to 100% and then see how it behaves. Will keep this thread posted with stats from my phone.

Oct 23, 2012I finished installing ICS 3 hours ago. The problem was that my battery died during the time it was updating media database. Now, the battery will not charge. It says at 5%. If I am using my phone at all (i.e. just making folders) it heats up and dies/turns off. I've tried 2 different batteries and 2 different chargers with the same results. Also- 3 hours later and I still have no contacts and many apps no longer work (google voice).

Sep 24, 2011I got the battery dock on launch day.this morning I realized the battery issues I've been having are due to the dock not fully charging any of the batteries I have put into it! The dock charges them to 90% most of the time--even if they are in the charger for over 9 hours. I just discovered this problem this morning after removing an extended battery after 9 hours of charge, to find it only at 90%. I had the same issue the first day I bought the extended battery and had to complete the charge inside the phone. I also had been having trouble getting the standard batteries fully charged.
I'm going to exchange it at Verizon this morning, but I'm wondering if a new one will be any better.I use a Battery Indicator widget which shows the voltage--that helps me determine precisely how much charge is in each battery. The battery dock barely gets the batteries charged up to 4.1 volts, and sometimes less.they should be charged more than that, along with showing "100%" on the phone's status, of course.

Sep 15, 2011I've been using my Bionic for about 24 hrs now (pretty heavy useage) and only 3 items show up in the "Battery and Data Manager":
Southwest Airlines App (96%)
Cell Standby (2%)
Phone Idle (2%)
That's it. I've used about 30 different apps and I've had WiFi on and off, I've been on LTE and switched to CDMA only for a bit. I've tried out the GPS, used Google Talk, the browser and a bunch of other stuff that I know takes up battery life and I want to know what is killing the battery? Is there a fix for the Battery and Data Manager or somewhere else on the phone I can look for this info?

Jun 27, 2012I recently purchased the Droid Bionic approximately 2 weeks ago. I got one for my husband also. Recently, my phone has been randomly shutting off and the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery. It has also happened when the phone is on and I am charging it. My husband's phone has not randomly shut off at any time. I have downloaded a few apps which include Accuweather, Go SMS pro and PicSpeed Wallpaper. I also inserted my micro SD card from my old phone into the new phone which I just removed to see if the phone will randomly shut down. I also do not have the pocket detector on.

Dec 14, 2011I'm lucky that I live in an area where I have pretty consistent 4G service. My battery life with my Bionic seemed to be improving over time and prior to yesterdays update I was getting a good 12+ hours of regular life with a few bluetooth phone calls and regular push emails and by 7pm I would be at 40%. I thought that was pretty decent. Today after 4.5 hours I was down to 50% and now after 6.hours and 33 minutes I'm at 30%. In that interim period I have not made any phone calls, nor played any games, nor used the phone for anything other than checking my status of apps and battery life.
The one change I did notice was "wakelock" with the " " marks on the word included on the list of things using battery. When I queried this forum as to what this is, not an app I uploaded to the phone, I found out it is something that Moto added as a power management tool. There is no way for us that I can tell to manipulate this tool. I have a problem with having a tool put on my device that slows my battery and I can't either delete it or manipulate it. I won't root my phone.
Motorola Droid Bionic :: Battery Graphic Showing Higher In Notification Bar Than Widget
Sep 15, 2011Is it me or does it seem that the battery graphic on the notification bar is not telling the true story? The phone (in settings) and widgets say 70% but the icon is in no way close to 3/4 full. It looks more like 90%. It always looks fuller then the battery truly is. I do understand that 70% can be anywhere between 70-79 but that's not close to what it shows on top. It's like Apple and the signal bars and how they showed higher then reality.

Feb 17, 2012I've tried calling Verizon, but they won't open a ticket because of a known issue with the .173 update, but everytime I enter a extended network area, I quickly lose data connection. It seems like I hear of quite a few people in my area having this problem. Verizon pushed a hybrid PRL to my phone and the PRL version went from 15098 to 13014. Am I going to just have to wait till they actually send someone to fix a local tower or is this something nation wide?

I tend to leave the phone plugged into the charger all night while on my night table because I get called frequently during the night from work and need to respond immediately. Unlike the Droid X, the Bionic plays an alert tone and instruct you to unplug the charger once it is fully charged. This is rather anoying as it wakes me up.

I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa.Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.

Nov 17, 2011Im having the same issue as a lot of other people (so i read). Mine has progressively gotten worse. My data connection shows active (sometimes it doesnt) but I cannot transfer data. After multiple restarts/battery pulls, i have data connection but NO app will transfer data except the web browser and dolphin. Even Gmail will not sync. So i can surf the web, but cant check my gmail app, pageonce, etc, etc. Wifi/bluetooth work fine. MOST of the time I can still text / make calls but not always.
I am hesitant to do a factory reset as the last time i did this, it did not change the problem and i was stuck with nothing because i had no data connection to connect to my google account with (nor wifi, i was on vacation).

At work and mobile I am usually 4G.I expect to be on 4G for a few years (5G anytime soon?) and was thinking of spending $$$ on a Wilson repeater to pick up 4G with a directional antenna and amplifier for home: url...I am a licensed Amateur Radio operator and the principals involved seemed sound to me.Also, does anyone know how to put the Bionic into Field Test Mode?
