i received my update last night and fully let my battery charge from 10 pm til about 6 this morning, i had light use watching a couple of Internet videos that were no more then like 3-4 mins and some light facebook use and by 11 im down to already 40 percent where as before i could use phone all day and still be about 40 percent by the time i got off around 5 pm.
View 15 RepliesEver since the ICS update my battery life is 2x worse than before on Gingerbread. I have noticed on here that I am not the only one with this issue. Is there and options I can do to improve battery life? I noticed there is no way to toggle back and forth betwen 3G and 4G and background data cant be turned off now. I have also noticed they got rid of the task manager that actually worked and force quit the apps. I had to force quit ever app manually ever since the update. Every app was running in the background. I got this phone for the extended battery life and if I dont use the phone all day and by the end of the night I have 20% battery left, something is wrong. ICS has a lot of great features, but if I had a chance to un-install ICS I would.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm lucky that I live in an area where I have pretty consistent 4G service. My battery life with my Bionic seemed to be improving over time and prior to yesterdays update I was getting a good 12+ hours of regular life with a few bluetooth phone calls and regular push emails and by 7pm I would be at 40%. I thought that was pretty decent. Today after 4.5 hours I was down to 50% and now after 6.hours and 33 minutes I'm at 30%. In that interim period I have not made any phone calls, nor played any games, nor used the phone for anything other than checking my status of apps and battery life.
The one change I did notice was "wakelock" with the " " marks on the word included on the list of things using battery. When I queried this forum as to what this is, not an app I uploaded to the phone, I found out it is something that Moto added as a power management tool. There is no way for us that I can tell to manipulate this tool. I have a problem with having a tool put on my device that slows my battery and I can't either delete it or manipulate it. I won't root my phone.
I have a IPhone 4s and before 5.1 had no noticeable problems with my battery life. After upgrading it has went down hill horribly. I got 5 hours, 15 minutes of Usage and 9 hours, 49 minutes of Stand by at 2% battery life left. I only use manual email, no siri, no bluetooth, minimal 3g and Wifi, about 40 minutes of talk time.

Why did my battery life get worse after updating to iOS 5.1 on my 4S? It wasn't too bad when using 5.0.1, but after updating, I have gone from having to charge each night to having to charge every 6-8 hours. A friend had the oposite result on his 4S. He was having major battery issues before the update and the update cured his problems.

So I didn't really put much thought into the fact that my battery was dying much faster. However, since there was really nothing earth shattering on the new update, the next 4 days were back to my normal usage patten. Normally, I would very seldom run my battery dead in a day. 30-40% was typical. But I have hit 10% every single day since the update.

Haven't made any changes to smart actions or any other settings, but seems I'm down about another 20% at the end of work day the last 2 days. Still not dissatisfied by any means, just curious. Also, last 2 days Android OS has been top on battery use list, compared to prior to update, where it was farther down.Also, never dropped 4G prior to last outage, and now post update/post outage seem to be waffling much more between 3G and 4G.

I updated the OTA update early today and since then the battery level has been going down at almost 10% every 30 - 40 mins. Following is the list in my battery usage queue. This is after I did a system reset and left my phone without any new apps (except for facebook).

I am planning to charge it to 100% and then see how it behaves. Will keep this thread posted with stats from my phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy only concern is the battery. I'm not exactly what you would call a heavy user but usually look for about 3-4 hours screen time on an average. Mostly done by browsing the web, social media, A LOT of texting, a few YouTube videos and some Bluetooth streaming with my car AND my Moto 360.
So this things got a 3900 mah battery yet why does it feel closer to 2800. I understand that the device does have the higher resolution display and whatnot but do people not realize this thing has a 3900 MAH BATTERY?! Shouldn't that blow everything else out of the water? Like not even be close to any other phone. I switch between a Note 4 and the Turbo and I can get more screen on time with the Note 4 (5.5-6.5). Keep in the mind the Note 4 only has a 3250 battery (I think) and the same resolution display yet it's much larger. AND it runs touchwiz, something that destroys battery life.
One thing I was really hoping would change with the update was an improvement in battery life. I know it is too soon to tell -- and I'm playing with the phone more, so that has an impact -- but, if anything, I think I'm getting shorter battery life than I was before. Anyone else have any observations regarding battery life?

There doesn't seem to be a setting to set a refresh rate, and no matter if they are on the homescreen or not I notice that they are loading themselves into RAM anyway. For instance, social networking, weather, news, bookmarks widgets, etc are auto-loading into the RAM.So the question is, will it make any difference if I add the blur widgets to the homescreens or not? Would there be a performance/battery/ram difference if they were not on the homscreens? Could I get better battery life with or without the widgets, or does it make any difference so I might as well add them to the homescreens?I pretty much have OCD when it comes to trying to squeaze every last bit of performance out of my devices.

This was a typical day of use and I usually get to bedtime on battery day #2 before I need to recharge. Imagine my surprise when I looked at my phone today and I had only 30% battery remaining! Looked at the battery monitor and WeatherBug had used 18% of the battery. Seems it was awake for hours. I hadn't changed any settings and I had previously not noticed any battery drain from WeatherBug. (Settings are on update every 30 minutes, and I have location services off.)

I think this should be put somewhere for all turbo owners to see as a "get your phone, immediately do this". And stickied. Just a thought and did not want to burry it in the long battery thread.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've had the RAZR for a few days now, and one of the main things I used my last phone for (droid x) was to listen to music at work.I've been listening to music these past three days, and when I look at the battery use chart, there is something called "Mediaserver" using up a significant amount of battery life (~20% or more if I've listened to a lot of music). On my droid x I never saw this process on my battery use, and I am wondering if there is an option or something that I am overlooking that is increasing the amount of battery drain from listening to music.I listen to mp3s on the stock music app and to mp3 and m4a podcasts using Pocket Casts.I can't say for sure, but Mediaserver seems to not appear on the battery list until I start listening to music and to not increase the amount of battery that it uses while not listening to music.

It gets hot when listening to pandora or videos after a short time in use. Her battery life wasnt the greatest from the beginning but after ICS it's worse. 1. Can you charge the phone at any time or should the battery be drawn all of the way down?
2. Once the battery is fully charged, should it be immediately disconnected from the charger, or is it OK to leave the charger attached?
3. if you are using the device, and it is below full charge, is it OK to have it charging while you are using it?
after upgrading my Defy to 2.2.2 it runs 24h at most on its battery. It ran at least 2 days before the update. Now it usually runs out of battery after work. By then it was last charged 11-12 hours ago.I installed the OS Monitor from the market to check what is eating up my battery. Turns out that the "init" process starts eating up all free CPU resources after a while. The phones runs smoothly for about an hour or two after turning on. But as soon as the init process starts using the entire CPU, battery goes down very quickly.I did not install any new apps after the update besides the OS Monitor. So the apps have not changed. Still the battey dies very quickly.What can I do to get my phone back to its old charge cycle?

Has anyone else noticed a significant decrease in how long your MOTOACTV lasts on a charge? I can usually leave my device off the charger all weekend without it dying without using it. But this weekend I had to charge it 4 times just to keep it from turning off due to lack of battery charge. I am not using all the new Twitter or Facebook notifications and the Bluetooth on my phone was off all weekend too. View 14 Replies View RelatedIt doesn't happen all the time, but maybe once a week. I'll be using it and all of the sudden the battery will drop by 20% to 40% in a matter of seconds. See the attached screen shot for an example. This happened both before and after the Ice Cream Sandwich update. I haven't been able to link it to a particular app or service. I have done a hard reset on my phone and the problem persists. Also, with the example shown in my screen shot, I was doing a Google search using the chrome browser and the battery level dropped from 40% to 5% in a matter of seconds. And as you can see the battery level hasn't changed since, it has been at 5% for two hours or so without a change.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was working after lunch and noticed that my phone was getting hotter and hotter. When I looked at the screen it showed constant data up and down. I wasnt syncing anything or surfing but it wouldnt stop. I shut down and restarted and even did the software "Battery Pull" but soon enough it would start data again and the battery would be eaten up. It was on 4G. Then finally it would stop an hour or so later. If I start the music app again it starts all over. Here is a thread on another site where we are trying to narrow it down. They think it may be the media server as it shows a lot of data usage!

I dont believe its a faulty battery as I have a second battery and will have the same problem with that one.Yesterday I hardly used my phone. After 3 days, I have noticed that I have significantly more battery when I get home at night with my normal usage.I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same. Normally by the time I would get home, my phone would report under 15% or less. However I do have a Seidio extended battery (yeah the big honking one). The last few days I have had 40-50% battery left.
Since the milestone/droid has never recognized the extended battery's extra capacity, it reports battery % based on the standard battery size. So even though my battery would report 5%, I could run for 10-15 hours at 5%.So, is the battery life better with the update, or is the milestone now recognizing the extra capacity of the battery and just reporting it correctly.
Getting a battery life increase with the smart actions app completely disabled. Before it was constantly running in the background even with no actions on so yesterday I disabled it completely and saw a very noticeable battery increase.does it really happened due to removal of smart actions app ?

When I got off the flight, my phone wouldn't power up, so I found an outlet and found that I had no power. I know I powered it off, and so why would it be out of juice when it had battery left when I powered down?

Previously (after 12 or more hours of uptime) I'd typically always have Display as the highest %. Now it's always Android OS. Right now I'm at 16 hours on battery and my Android OS is 64% at 44 min. My Display is only 7 min.
All the same apps since before .893 and no new ones. Factory reset has made no difference in this. if this is something known and to be addressed in .901 ?
