I love my new Droid2 Global, but I'm frustrated at a problem I've encountered. After several successful app downloads, installs and activations, I find that when I download an app, it gets downloaded and installed, but no widget appears, so I'm unable to activate/use it. The widget appears as an installed application, but I still cannot activate it. I can uninstall them, but not activate them.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have had the Droid X since Launch Day and I have loved the phone except for one glaring issue that constantly bugs me: LAG/general stuttering.I just tried it and noticed an immediate increase in snappiness and responsiveness. My problem is that I have many apps installed on my phone. I may not use them all the time but I do like to have them on there. Unfortunately I have noticed that these apps will often run in the background and probably just slow my phone down even though I would not normally use them. Is there any solution to keeping my phone running fast with a lot of apps? Or maybe a selective safe mode where you can choose what is allowed to run?

Have searched through my apps, but it doesn't show there, where I may find it.
Have tried another app, and still the same, shows installed, but cannot locate it.
I am trying to troubleshoot and I don't remember what the last few apps are that I installed. Is there any way to show the date and time that an app was installed? It seems that they can only be sorted by size or alphabetically. If not, are there any apps that do this? Is it even possible with android?
View 12 Replies View RelatedThis has happened three times since Thursday, its not the same apps either. I installed the apps on the phone, then they just uninstall themselves. Redwall has done it. Google sky maps have done it. Moviefone has done it. Firefox has done it. Its like it going through my list uninstalling each app in its on time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just opened the Market to see whether any apps of mine needed updating and "My apps" shows that I have only 7 apps installed--and that doesn't include Gmail, Google Voice, Google Search, etc. I realize that this may be unrelated to Motorola or the Droid X, but you never know. Just thought I'd ask to see if anyone else is noticing this. Perhaps Google is in the process of updating the Android Market?

My torch flashes a couple of times when I click on "View aplications" but that is all that happens. My torch does sync via the desktop without issues.

Switched to the default calendar widget after 3.1 arrived to allow resizing of widgets. widget syncs the calendars okay but the date at the top of the widget never changes, stays on the install date. calendar app works fine, widget is static.stock, non rooted 3.1

Still getting used to the changes but one thing I've noticed is that when you click on the blue Voice Dial button on the phone page, it syas, "Application is not installed on your phone". if this was by design with the 2.3.3 update? Is so, can you please advise as to where to download the app. I had voice dial on the previous version.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently traveled overseas and had the weather widget on my homescreen. It updated sucessfully via wifi while I was there. When I've returned to the states, however, my widget still says the foreign city, the dates for the weather are the dates of my travel and it won't update.
In addition, if I try to add any city, it says "Can't add new city now. Try again later." This happens over both the data connection and wifi. I've done everything but a factory reset, including rebooting and removing & re-adding the widget.
The owner's guide says to tap the widget until vibration, then drag corner to new size. All that happens for me is that the calendar wants to move to a new position. On one attempt, the widget went into the trash. When I re-installed the widget, it came back in half its previous size (now 2x2 where it was 4x2). I cannot resize this widget either.

It looks pretty nice now. how often the widget updates? There is no option to change the update interval so I'm wondering how often it actually does this.

Pressing the camera button does bring up the camera in 8MP mode-Yay!-which is a work around for the normal camera icon resorting to WS mode everytime the phone is rebooted or the camera app cleared from RAM.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe stock Motorola Widgets/Weather widget has taken a nosedive since the OTA Gingerbread update hit my Droid X. The stock widget uses Accuweather.com data and it always previously behaved correctly with Froyo.
The problem I'm facing is that even though the Current Location/Show current location on widget green box is checked, the "current location" doesn't automatically update as I travel from town to town, as it used to do with Froyo.
I have the Settings/Location & security/Google location services green box checked. I have the Settings/Location & security/Standalone GPS services and VZW location services grey boxes unchecked.
Anyone else using the social networking widget notice that after viewing a bunch of items (typically tweets or facebook updates) they frequently show up again the next time I look for new entries? Most of the time it works as expected - items show up until I view them once, then no longer. Too often though I have to scroll through a bunch of updates multiple times

There doesn't seem to be a setting to set a refresh rate, and no matter if they are on the homescreen or not I notice that they are loading themselves into RAM anyway. For instance, social networking, weather, news, bookmarks widgets, etc are auto-loading into the RAM.So the question is, will it make any difference if I add the blur widgets to the homescreens or not? Would there be a performance/battery/ram difference if they were not on the homscreens? Could I get better battery life with or without the widgets, or does it make any difference so I might as well add them to the homescreens?I pretty much have OCD when it comes to trying to squeaze every last bit of performance out of my devices.

The phone app would hang and force a close or indicate the camera App had failed to initialize. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm curious where the Apps get stored on this phone. As an example - I downloaded "Droidlight" successfully from the Market, but where on this phone is it stored? I opened "Files" and see the directory structure for the internal phone storage and my external SD card, but I don't see an "Apps" directory. Manage Apps under Settings provides the option to move it to the "Media" area, but what directory is that? Would that be in the folder called "Protected Content"? Looks like "Ringtone", "Image", and "Music" are the only sub-folders in there currently.

Not only that but it is unresponsive, I can't type in it, the mic doesn't respond, it's there but not working and I don't want it to begin with.
