Motorola Defy :: Short Battery Life After Update To 2.2?
Jun 21, 2011after upgrading my Defy to 2.2.2 it runs 24h at most on its battery. It ran at least 2 days before the update. Now it usually runs out of battery after work. By then it was last charged 11-12 hours ago.I installed the OS Monitor from the market to check what is eating up my battery. Turns out that the "init" process starts eating up all free CPU resources after a while. The phones runs smoothly for about an hour or two after turning on. But as soon as the init process starts using the entire CPU, battery goes down very quickly.I did not install any new apps after the update besides the OS Monitor. So the apps have not changed. Still the battey dies very quickly.What can I do to get my phone back to its old charge cycle?

Aug 8, 2011I updated to the new version of O/S 2.2 last week on my defy. Right away I noticed two things that are killing me. First, I can no longer use the flashlight on my camera. Secondly, when I send texts, sometimes I get no alerts showing the person responded. Example: no sound, or flashing green light. It drives me nuts because I will text someone and await their response.. only to check my phone and see they responded an hour ago but I had gotten no alerts.

May 15, 2011This just started happening after the upgrade to froyo. I get a lot of texts from one person, and they were always displayed in the messaging widget before the upgrade. Now they only appear in the notification bar. Have tried deleting the conversation to start over but no change.

Feb 12, 2012Is anyone else having any problems sending texts with attachments? I am using Handscent and Go SMS Pro in addition to the standard text program that came with my bionic. For some reason lately, I can't to get an attachment to go through (video or picture) for any of the text programs on the bionic. It runs, and runs, and runs (and uses up battery power) but it never seems to go through most of the time. At other times, it goes through (video) with no problems.

Sep 17, 2012As soon as my phone had installed the latest update, i lost the ability to send or receive text messages. The only time I can send or receive is if i am on a phone call. As soon as the call is done, my text messaging is non-functional. I have no issues with calls/internet browsing/apps...just text messaging.
Furthermore, i do not know if this a phone issue or an AT&T issue.

I accidentally touched "never allow" and "don't ask me again" (these two came after another in a row), but I wanted to send the messages. I tried to search settings and messaging settings but I cannot find anything that let me allow sending the messages to short codes again. When I Googled my problems, the results I found are mainly on Samsung orz. Samsung has an application manager to adjust the setting, but I can't find it on sony.

Dec 2, 2011setting up auto-fetching applies to all email accounts. I swear on my 2.1 Spice XT300, the auto-retrieval was by email address (and also the smallest interval between fetches was 5 minutes, not 15 like on the Defy). I have never used 2.1 on the Defy; mine was original 2.2.1.

Sep 4, 2011I have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly.This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file.After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.

I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.

Jul 3, 2012Is text messaging. If I try to send an outgoing text at the same time that one is incoming it will not send the outgoing message. It will struggle for about 30 seconds to 1 minute (or even more) and eventually time out with a 'text was not sent' error message. For someone like me who sends thousands of texts a month it's the most annoying thing ever! Other phones do not have this problem.
Also the time stamp for texts does not work if the phone is powered off. For example: I turn my phone off at midnight and someone sends me a text at 1:00 AM. I turn my phone back on at 8AM. The text arrives but does not have the correct time stamp as being sent at 1:00 AM. It will be shown as 8AM. So I have no idea what time the message was actually sent. Once again other phones I have used did not have this problem.

Apr 4, 2012Last night I unplugged my phone when I left work @5:30 with a full charge. I sent two SMS messages, was on the web for less than 5 minutes, turned wifi off and Sync off, had screen at dimmest setting. Phone still dies by 6AM with a brand new OEM battery. Should this be expected?
