Ever since the GB update this super handy little app has been a bit on the forgetful side. Meaning, after I take the time to put a target into the directory for "Shared folders" it has little more than short term memory. All the connection information is lost shortly after I stop using the app and go to reconnect when the data is needed. Is there a cure?
View 7 RepliesI am trying to transfer my music, ringtones to my new atrix 4g and from what I have gathered from various postings I need to make separate folders for everything...such as notifications, ringtones, and texting tones. Seems kind of silly to me since some of these files have dual functionality and I do not want to have the same file in multiple folders to serve different purposes.
If there is a list of suggested folder locations/names for the atrix either on an sd card or the onboard memory I cant seem to find it anywhere. To sum up my request I would hopefully like a single folder where I can have all my tones for ringtones, notifications tones, and alarm clock tones including being able to attach specific ringtones to contacts in my address book.
When I download a PDF or some other word file where does it go? I'd like to get rid of some of the "garbage" that has been downloaded and worked with but I can't find it on my XOOM. My pad is not rooted and I am using the basic software on it. Where I can find the files and how to get rid of them easy? I am with Verizon and still running 3.1 and in California.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm curious where the Apps get stored on this phone. As an example - I downloaded "Droidlight" successfully from the Market, but where on this phone is it stored? I opened "Files" and see the directory structure for the internal phone storage and my external SD card, but I don't see an "Apps" directory. Manage Apps under Settings provides the option to move it to the "Media" area, but what directory is that? Would that be in the folder called "Protected Content"? Looks like "Ringtone", "Image", and "Music" are the only sub-folders in there currently.

My question pertains to the different storage locations on the phone. I hope that I am making my question crystal clear.
About the “Internal Storage” folder on my phone. I noticed that when I take a picture using the phone’s camera, it automatically puts the picture in a folder called, “Camera.” I can see this folder when I open the “File Commander” on my phone, and I can view the picture this way. Also, I can view this picture by opening up the “Album” on my phone.
I noticed that when I open File Commander, I can also get to a bunch of folders under “Internal Storage.” I can create sub folders in this folder and move my pictures here, if I want to. If I move a picture to this location, it is no longer viewable by opening, “The Album.” But who cares. Not a big deal, as I can always just open the File Commander if I want to see my pictures.
Next – I connected my phone to my PC running Windows 7 and noticed that all the folders are recognized and show in windows explorer EXCEPT the “Internal Storage” folder.
My question is WHERE should I store my pics and videos and other files on my phone so that if the Android operating system were to fail and I had to reinstall it, the files would not disappear? If I make a file system under “Internal Storage” and save my files there, will the files be gone if the operating system has to be reinstalled or if I upgrade to a later version of the OS?
I downloaded a few apps from the ovi store, after downloading it installed by itself on the phone memory.I want to free up some space by deleting the .sis setup file but can't find them in installation files folder.
Are .sis files deleted automatically after installation from ovi store or they are hidden from the user?
just wondering where the APK files are stored on the SGSii when you download them from the AM. You see I have Amazon Mobile on my phone but my Galaxy 10.1 tab can't seem to get it in the AM.I was going to have a go at copying the APK across and seeing if I could get it to install that way but obviously need to know where to find them first. I am rooted and have root explorer.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhave owner this phone for a monthe or so, i really enjoyed watching movies on it on breaks at work. in the last week it is not playing the sound on those movies. there all .avi files. i don't know if i have changed a setting or if the Internet app changed somethiing. i can still hear the sound on some files, but not on most. when i play the files that appear to have no sound, when i try turning up the volume the volume box that pops up says ringer volume.

It stored its files on the SD card so I moved them to the phone storage. It seems to be working fine now. This week I have been taking pictures with my HTC M8 and the gallery freezes and the picture will turn blank with a triangle in it. The camera stores pictures on the SD card also. If I touch the picture the phone locks up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI regularly lose song files on the 32GB MicroSDHC card (Class 10) in my Atrix 2. They disappear without a trace, and without notice of any kind. I've been checking my music directory regularly with a file explorer app, and I've noticed that they tend to disappear whenever minor changes are made to the SD card (mounting/unmounting the card, connecting to my PC, adding new files to the card, revising existing files, etc.). I've tried using different SD cards, different PC connection methods (MotoHelper and USB Mass Storage), but nothing seems to work.
Is Android 2.3.5 not reading the card properly? I don't see the point of using an SD card with this phone if I can't guarantee that the files will stay accessible.
One of the first thing I did when I got my Atrix was enable phone and storage encryption from the settings menu. I recently downloaded and installed Motorola Media Link and got it to work with my phone. When content comes from the phone to the computer, the name and file type are correct, but it doesn't open or play (if a pic or video).
If I navigate to My Computer and open the SD card directly, I can see all the files and copy them over (like pics and vids) but I cannot see the pictures and the videos do not work.
Is encryption causing the problem? Is there any way to utilize motorola software (like Media Link) if encryption is enabled?
If I can't use conventional methods to transfer data from my phone to my computer, are there other options?
I have a Atrix and I have tried syncing through Media Link and it duplicates most of the music files so I have two copies of every album in two different places on SD card. It puts them under mobile/music but also under a music. I never set up the file system on my SD card but I did switch it out of my old phone. Why does it do this and what do I need to do make it stop? Should I delete one of these file folders completely? I have already deleted all of the music files on my phone and then synced it again.

Therefore everytime I install an app I have to do a battery pull to restart the phone as the restart option from the App World in the phone makes the files on the media card not to be seen.This bug was not present before I did the upgrade to 7.1 bundle 1737?

When my Nexus 6's screen is turned off (either by timeout or by locking the phone) the audio will start to stutter and distort. Is there a fix for this? trouble retrieving files that were accidentally deleted on the mass memory. I have tried all sorts of file recovery programs but they DO NOT read the mass memory. currently has a new LG something Android phone but the problem also happened with her previous Samsung feature phone. Rebooting my phone frequently resolves the problem for awhile as does receiving a message from me. But since we had problems with old phone I don't believe it's a problem with her phone. Do Handcent, Go SMS and others work independently of the stock Messaging app. I was under the impression that all messaging apps worked off the same core reception and message storage.
