Lumia 950 XL :: Text Messages Not Fully Restored After Hard Reset
Dec 27, 2015
I have a 950xl and following a hard reset yesterday, the only text messages that have been restored are for two of my contacts and even then not all of them.
Basically, only about thirty out of several thousand messages have been recovered!
I am having to do a hard reset on my phone to see if it fixes certain problems...HTC said my contacts were uploaded to my gmail is that true and how do they get restored to the phone...
if i do a hard full reset will that reset eveything including the first hotmail live account i put in on the first day of activation because im not living in the same country anymore and want to start a new zune/marketplace account to buy apps i have no problem with hard reset IF It will work?
during windows update today my 950 XL turned off (full battery). When I started it again it goes through boot process and starts with rotating gears (I guess it is installing update) but 2 seconds after i get sad face icon.
I tried to hard reset it holding power and vol down keys but it is never reaching the "exclamation mark" point. It just loops... I installed recovery tool on my PC but it is not recognizing the phone. Restarted PC - the same situation.
will doing a hard reset with my SD card in the phone wipe all the data (pictures, videos, etc.) off of the SD card? If I take the SD card out of the phone and do a hard reset, then put the SD card back in, will the phone recognize all of the pictures and data on the card? Will it know that they've already been uploaded to OneDrive and not create duplicates?
I had to restore my text messages from BB protect. The restore completed successfully but I cannot locate the actual text messages. Where can I find them?
Ive had my Nokia Lumia 710 for about a year or so now. I've never had any problems with it that weren't easily solved by a quick reboot, but a week ago my phone started freezing its screen and being glitchy..I ignored this after i fixed it by rebooting it a couple of times by taking the battery out, but soon after it turned off completely and wouldn't turn back on. I plugged it into the charger thinking the battery might have died because it was showing the "goodbye" screen before it would turn off. After plugging it into the charger, it would restart normally, showing the battery charging symbol which usually stays there for about 5 minutes until the lock screen comes on. Unfortunately, instead of the lock screen coming up after this period of time, the phone would vibrate and then begin charging again.
My Lumia 800's battery went dead and for more than 2 hours the phone was stuck on the red battery picture! My friend performed a hard reset without myknowledge and I lost everything! I tried connectin my phone to Zune and it took it as a new phone I lost everything my contacts, msgs, apps and I can find a way to get them back!As far as I know I can restore the phone but I am not knowing how! The thing I care about the most r my contacts! Is there anyway that everything I had on y phone can be restored from the backups that the software would do everytime I would connect my phone? Or at least anyway that I can get back my contacts?
A couple of months back I lost a load of holiday photos because my sd card failed. Now with a new card I am having problems getting music to download onto the new card. The phone doesn't see all the files. It is a brand new good quality card.
So frustrating that the 950 is not a top end phone. The problems with having to do a hard reset in order to get the update is a joke. I've done the hard reset and my update is just sitting at 0% it won't do anything and my phone is just now going slow. I expected a lot more from MS. The batter gets ridiculously hot, it drains way too quickly, and there are other glitches as well. This was marketed as a high end phone but thus far it is no where close.
So, I tried Windows 10 preview on my Lumia 1020. I decided to return to 8.1, so I downloaded the recovery tool and tried to reinstall 8.1. It couldn't reinstall it, so i wanted to restart the phone, but the screen wast working (actualy the time appeared as the phone was locked, but when i pressed the power button it went dark). Holding down the power button didn't worked at all, so I tried to hard reset it. Now the phone is looped, every time I try to turn it on it just start to load with the gears and it turns of or if connected to a power source restarts. How to get it back working?
My wife has a Nokia 1020 that was previously my daughters on the Vodaphone network. It has been unlocked and is now working fine on Virgin Mobile network.
There are apps all over the place and I would like to set up a new Windows live account for my wife while at the same time returning the phone to its original factory state. There is nothing on the phone that I need other than contacts which I stored earlier onto the SIM.
If I do a hard reset will the phone return to its previous Vodaphone set up?If so will I have to get the phone unlocked again to be able to use the Virgin Mobile network?
Loaded DP 8.1 on my Nokia Icon last week. I like the expanded feature set, but it has become increasingly buggy (wifi/bluetooth issues, etc.). I want to do a hard reset, since I would prefer not to wipe all the data and/or inadvertently reset it to original factory specs if possible. I am particularly worried about losing music files/playlists on the device.
I've had my 1020 for a month, without a single restart-issue. The only thing that has not been working properly, is Bluetooth/wifi, which have been stuck until a reboot (most of the time after beeing bluetooth'ed to my car stereo). Anyway, I did a hard reset to see if that worked. I did not restore from backup, just to make sure i did not transfer any problems.
Couple weeks ago I updated my phone to a windows 10 preview (I forgot the build number) and it installed fine. As expected there were some bugs, so I read online on how to fix them after restarting my phone and doing a soft reset, it didn't work. I then had to do a factory reset- or a hard reset. It then threw my phone into a perpetual state of spinning cogs and a never-ending battle that is so close to lost I can feel the defeat seeping in like a plague. I've connected it to my computer to do the NSRT but my phone only sees it as a power source. I've taken the battery out, brought it to the Microsoft store, and I've even tried to hack into it via computer. However the same problem shows every time:
I previously saved the game 'Lost Echo' on my SD card. Yesterday I did a hard reset of my Lumia 1520 (without erasing my SD card) and after that, the game is no longer on my app list. When I go to the store to install it, it attempts to install a fresh copy of the game instead.
I plugged my phone to my PC and tried searching inside the SD card but found nothing. However, I can tell that the app is still inside the SD card as there is more than 1GB of 'other' files when I checked storage sense, which definitely must be the files for the app.
Is there a way to restore the app without doing a fresh installation? I really do not want to lose my game progress.
Why is my lumia 1320 get a multi colored paint like sreen after a hard reset.,?i flashed it many times but still the display is distorted.,what should i do?is it a hardware issue?my phone haven't fell at all..
I am on the latest build of Windows 10 mobile. Had issues so tried a hard reset and it Failed phone just boots up. I cant even revert back to windows phone 8.1 it shows an error when using WPRT. To be noted Storage Manager Crashes as well as the messages app. New software wont install or write in the internal Memory. Whatsapp Messages Disappear after reboot. Uninstall whatsapp and its back after reboot. I'm stuck with what I have. New Data wont Write on internal memory.
After i did a hard reset to my lumia 1020 which is on lumia black. glance screen has shifted under display+ touch. and now i cant change my night mode clock color and glance has options off, peek, timed and always on. earlier before hard reset i had interval, peek and always on.
So I attempted to do a full wipe/hard reset on my Nokia 1020.. I thought it was working until it restarted and now goes to a WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER screen. Am I completely screwed now? I don't understand how I can't even force-reset the phone. This is really upsetting and I don't know what to do.
Yesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.
My Galaxy S5 was bought new and boxed on August 6th. After 5 weeks it started playing up as the ringtone would play over and over with every new notification (FB, Twitter etc) meaning I had to turn the phone off. A reboot and Zedge app delete sorted this out however now I find I cannot sent text messages but I can receive them. I can also post on all social media but not send a text.
I have twice restored the phone to factory settings which solves the problem for about a week, then it returns. I'm on 4G with Unlimited Texts and I'm not over my allowance. To date I have tried the following which didn't work....
* Switched the phone off then back on * Installed the latest software * Switched to Flight Mode then back again * Checked the text message centre number (+447782000800) is correct * Restored phone to factory settings (twice) * Removed WhatsApp * Removed all music and video media
I managed to get my text service up and running (so far) by clearing the message cache. Here is how to do it on Samsung S5 APPS - SETTINGS - scroll down to APPLICATIONS - APPLICATION MANAGER - scroll across the screen to the left to the 'ALL' menu - scroll down to MESSAGES - CLEAR CACHE. Finally re-start your phone to allow changes to take effect.
When I do a soft reset my phone will text me with my own number. I will have two contacts in a text thread. When they reply to a text after the reboot I will get a response with my phone number listed instead of just the two contacts. When I respond to the text I text myself.
