Lumia 1520 used to be flawless connecting to the paired Bluetooth in my car. Nothing has changed in the car. No updates or upgrades.
After the Denim update the phone will sometimes connect, and then after 1 or 2 successful connections, it will fail to connect although it still shows as paired. A reboot or re-pairing usually solves the issue and the cycle repeats.
Prior to Denim when I would receive a text message in the car it would play it through the Bluetooth like a phone call...... that no longer works and it was a very handy feature .
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs of this morning I have not been able to connect my AT&T 1520 Lumia to my wireless network. Last night I did the Denim upgrade via the same network. Android tablets and iPhones having no issues connecting. Have restarted the router, verified MAC Address. Deleted MAC from access control. Disabled all security (made it an open network) and it still will not connect.

Cortana comes up often and I have to turn off the screen and then turn it back on for the screen to actually work. I have tried hard resetting it...both from the Lumia Software Recovery Tool and from the phone itself. It still does the same thing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a JBL Micro external speaker (small, round and colorful). On 8.0 it connected beautifully on BT with my Icon; with Denim, I can't seem to pair it. I have a Jabra BT earpiece that has worked before and after the upgrade to Denim, so I know BT is working.
I have no expertise in these matters other than knowing that I have a connection or I do not.
I have the unlocked 1520 from Latin America. It came with Cyan out of the box and I installed preview for developers and updated. Trouble is, it doesn't say that I have Denim, yet I have the live app folders feature.

The capacitive keys at the bottom are much brighter than before denim. Now it maybe something in my eyes, or I just never noticed how bright they were...but I'm sure that before denim, the lights weren't that noticeable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had Denim on my 1520 for a while now. (UK CV). Yesterday, I had extensive usage of the phone and it slipped into battery saver mode at 20% - an abnormal occurrence for me.
Anyway, when Battery Saver enabled, the backlight behind the Back-Start-Search keys went out. And I was using the phone in the dark, walking home.
Upon regaining power, the lights came back again.
I tweeted Lumia on the mysterious occurrence which definitely did not happen in Cyan. Their response today seemed to indicate a fixable software thing - soft reset, see what happens. I have yet to try that.
An easy way to see: Enable "Now until next charge" in Battery Saver. Doing this on mine immediately extinguishes the backlight on the capacitive keys.
My Bluetooth between my Lumia 1520 and my yoga 2 13 (Windows 8.1) will not stay connected for more than 5 seconds. I don't get an error message, simply that my devices are not connected.
View 7 Replies View RelatedBefore the 8.1 update, my 1520 used to connect perfectly to my car and allow me to:
1. Send and reply to texts using my voice only
2. Play music that was on my phone on the car audio system.
3. Make and answer calls through the car audio.
After the update, I can only make and answer calls.!When I receive a text, the message is read out and I can dictate a reply and correct it but no matter how many times I say "send", it NEVER sends it! It's almost like it can't recognise the word. It does recognise it though because I can use the word "send" in a message.
As for music, my car recognised that bluetooth audio is available and also the name of the track, but it won't play it at all.My phone behaves in exactly the same way in my wife's car too. Before the update, it worked perfectly there too.
After having received the Denim update, my Nokia 1020 cannot connect anymore with my windows PC; the PC does not 'see' my phone anymore. Tried to connect my phone with another PC, same problem.

Subsequently, pressing power off/on will resume immediately, but after a few minutes the same behavior occurs again.

Already got the Denim update for the 1020? At first I thought my 1020 has the faux Denim update, but I have the live folders and apps corner per the update. When I bought the phone, I just updates incessantly without reading the descriptions.
Some webpages loads quite slow on the Denim update. I thought the update supposed to speed up mobile webpages? Mobile websites which uses a fancy navigation like joystiq.com loads quite slow and incomplete. Also, some pictures load slower than what I expected on desktop mode, and I'm using wi-fi for connection. Is it normal?
I'm having problems connecting OVI to a Nokia N8-00 handset via Bluetooth. The Add New Device wizard is able to detect the phone but when selecting it from the list and proceeding it stays on "Checking the Bluetooth capabilities of your device." for some 20 seconds after which it eventually fails with the error of "Failed to connect to your device. Problems occurred while authorizing the Bluetooth connection between your device and computer."
I've verified that both devices are configured as authorized by their respective counterpart. Also tried to remove the pairing from both the laptop and phone and re-pair them again - same problem. I am able to sync the phone with OVI via USB no problem. I am also able to use my OVI with another Nokia phone (E72) via Bluetooth without any issues. This points me to a possible problem with Bluetooth on the N8 phone itself but I don't have any way to prove it.

Nokia Icon received last week from Verizon. I generally like the phone and am excited about using it since I am a Windows user and want to take advantage of using my phone with Windows PC. Heard great things about this phone and wanted to try it after years of Android use. I have heard complaints about lack of apps but I am not an apps user except for the most basic ones. My problem is more with connecting to other devices. After receiving phone, downloading updates to installed apps out of the box, I have had problems with connecting/staying connected to WiFi. Had to reboot phone to get any recognition of networks. Working better now. Bluetooth is the current problem.
Phone does not recognize radio. Just searches and searches. Talked to both Verizon and Alpine Stereo. Alpine says I need to update a file since the head unit is four years old. Took Icon to my wife's brand new Escalade and it will not recognize it either. Just searches away. So, four year old or brand new units don't seem to have been set up for Windows phones.
My lumia 1520.3s Bluetooth isn't working any more. It just stopped working, it used to work but then it gradually stopped pairing or connecting. I had someone swap out the Bluetooth chip for a working one and it still doesn't work. Ive tried updating it and hard resetting it as well... I am exasperated and running out of options.

The only problem that occurs every once and a while is my Blutooth starts cutting in and out. Most of the time it works fine. Usually it happens in my car. It will work once and then I make a stop and re-establish the connection it starts cutting in and out almost like a record skipping. I have tried to turn off Blutooth and rediscover.
I have completely taken it out of my car's discovered blutooth connections and started over. I have turned off wifi. Restarted my phone. I also thought maybe it was the Live Lock Beta app so I uninstalled and it did work but it still happens on occasion. It also happens on occasion when I'm listening to my Motorola blutooth headset. At first I thought it may have been notifications coming in but just kept doing it.
I would really love to use the 1520 as a work/personal note-taking device. I already use OneNote extensively. I saw the 1520 at the AT&T store today and fell in love, but the final thing for me to justify a 6" monster would be the keyboard issue.

Next time I am in the car i will manually go to connect and then it will fail and ask me to pair the next time i click on my cars bluetooth name. Also it thinks its a reaction headset. When i am connected to it, in accessories it still says its disconnected.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my 1520 for about a year and I simply cannot get it to play music through Bluetooth without the sound jumping, dropping out, cracking up, etc etc. I mostly try to use it in my car (with a LG infotainment system). It's a dead loss. Making a BT connection is no problem, neither is speaking through the BT handsfree in my car - just the music playback quality.
What I have tried:
.Now running Windows 10 10166 on the phone. I was hoping that changing from Windows 8.1 might work. No luck. Incidentally, when the phone still ran Win 8.1, I tried resetting it twice (on the advice of Nokia support) - to no avail.
.I have, about 50 times, removed all Bluetooth connections then re-enabled them in my car and on the phone. No good.
.This led me to believe it was an issue with my LG car system. However, when I play music through BT with my old Android Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or my daughter's IPhone 5, it works without issue. This seems to point to a Nokia hardware issue.
.I also experimented playing music on a standalone JBL BT speaker. Same problem. Again, points to a hardware issue.
I am using Lumia 1520 with latest build of Windows 10. I have a 128gb sd card and if I play music through my car bluetooth in Honda Accord, none of the album and artist information is showing on the car display. Also, I am not able to use my car volume or music controls to control the music. I even tried using music that is not in sd card. Is this a bug in windows 10 phones?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 8.1 on my 1520 and use my Bluetooth headset 97% of the time. I leave it connected all the time and noticed that I do not hear audible incoming text messages, e-mail alerts etc....... The alert sounds come through the Bluetooth headset, so just because I have my Bluetooth connected to my 1520 doesn't mean that I wear my headset all the time, so if I'm not wearing the headset a text message for example will come in and play the alert through the headset but I won't hear it obviously, so I have to check my phone periodically to see if I have text messages or e-mails that have come in.
My wife has even complained that I don't respond to her text messages right away the way I use to when I had my Note 2. On the Note my Bluetooth would be connected just like I do with my 1520, but the sounds/alerts would still be through the phone and audible for me to hear unless I put the phone on silent. Is this an oversight on MS part? Or just something that'll be fixed when the official 8.1 update rolls out???
Nokia lumia 1520 DP8.1 connected to wifi but unable to access internet. It shows the connection as "limited"
Other fact:
1. never had this issue in wp8.0
2. all other gadgets (laptop, note, galaxy tab) do not have issue with connection and internet to the wifi router at home
3. NL1520 sometimes have internet connection when connected, but I cannot tell the pattern (I thought it was limit of connection, but it wasn't).
4. If connect my laptop to router, and then make my laptop as an internet router(use Spotify for example), NL1520 can connect to laptop's wifi and ALWAYS have internet connection (this has been my work around solution)
5. NL1520 can connect to other router in public just fine, so only my router at home.. but fact the other gadgets has no issue, I assume it is NL 1520 issue
