LG G4 :: Not Assigning Ringtones To Contacts
Jun 5, 2015As I'm slowly setting up my phone I've finally gotten around to ringtones. I'm having trouble assigning a specific ringtone to a specific contact. It appears that if the contact has a picture the option to change the ringtone is greyed out. All contacts without a picture I can change just fine.
Since I like to know who is calling without pulling the phone out of my pocket...this is really starting to bother me.

Aug 18, 2010I am trying to assign a ringtone to a contact on a E51 with latest firmware.When editing the contact, I select Options->Ringing tone, and then the only two selections available are "Download sounds" and "Default tone", even though I have many ringtones which show up when changing the ringtone for a profile.I thought this is something I had been able to do in the past.The only thing different now is that I have my contacts synchronized with a Mail for Exchange (3.0) account, could that be the problem?The same thing happens if I try to assign a ringtone to a group. How can I fix this so I can assign ringtones to specific contacts?

Jul 10, 2010there is a plug-in for custom ringtones per contact! it is in the Extras repository open xterm apt-get install per-contact-ringtones you will notice that it is integrated with the contacts manager.after you open a contact, tap the menu and you will now have an option "custom ring tone"

Jun 27, 2011I would like to start off by saying that I DO like my Cliq.I noticed problems with my News Widget.It would stop updating.I tried taking the battery out, etc.After some searching, I realized I wasn't running the most updated software.So, after some challenges with the update, I finally got my phone updated.That was followed by a total reset. Not happy about that, but seemed the only way to go in order to work out some kinks with the upgrade.So now I am trying to reset all of my personalizations. Now this is where my most recent problems are.How do I set ringtones for my contacts? Each way I have tried only lets me choose from the defaults or factory installed tones.

Jul 2, 2010My contacts is in extras-devel and works great. it has a full screen widget you can turn on and off too.i have been able to create 4 groups of people/contacts and assign rings to them. (currently only see wav files) i am sure there will be some updates to make it better, but it is a great start. i have had no issues with it so far, so even the noob should be ok trying it.

Dec 25, 2011I have an Experia x10 Mini pro. Firmare version 2.1 update, kernel 2.6.29 build 2.1.1.A.0.6. I have read through the manual and followed the instructions to asign individual ringtones to contacts. The problem is that when a contact with a specific ringtone calls it only plays the normal ringtone. The ringtones I am trying the use are mp3 files which are drm free and 30 seconds in length. They are on the SD card under audio/ringtones. I also notice that when these contacts call me they show up on screen as unknown.

Mar 8, 2015Like the title says, I am trying to make my Nexus 6 assign certain ringtones to certain contacts on my phone using Zedge. Now I go through the process and it takes the tone and I save it on the contact but then it just goes back to using the default ringtone in the settings menu. I used this to do the assignment and it still won't do it. I don't understand why it won't let me put custom ring tones I contacts, I like to have a ring and text tone for each person on my phone that way I know who it is before I even look at the phone.

If the mp3 file is in the internal memory it works correctly. This behaviour was not present with previous versions of android.

Apr 2, 2012The ringtones I have assigned to several of my contacts no longer work when the people call me. The tones are in my itunes and stored on the iphone, but will the only tone working for the contacts is the default tone. They worked fine until a few weeks ago, and I have done all sorts of trouble shooting but nothing has worked. Apple said the files for my custom tones were corrupt and I had to fix that which I did. However, even if I assign a regular tone i.e. Marimba, it still will not ring if the default is another tone.

I have "Ringtones" and "Notification" folders on the root of my SD card. I go into each contact and scroll down to the ringtone and select it,but then when someone phones me it still plays the default ringtone instead.

Dec 4, 2011So far I have been able to assign a ringtone to only 1 contact. For all the others I have tried thus far, I select the ringtone that I want, hit OK and it goes back to the default ringtone. This is strictly the Phone Contact list. I am not using any social networking apps at this time. I do use the Verizon Backup Assistant for my contacts, but that has never been an issue on any of my previous phones. This is the same contact list that was restored from my old phone to this one and the contacts have not changed.

Nov 28, 2011So far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't save....to another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.
