LG G3 :: After Lollipop Is Factory Reset Necessary?
Feb 13, 2015
I'm an early adopter of Android (coming from iOS) and this is my first android phone. I've been reading and some posts suggest that I should do a factory reset after the update.
I wanna hear your thoughts about this, is it necessary? Knowing that android doesn't have a good backup system unlike iOS, it's time consuming to move everything back where it was. Do the benefits outweigh the cons? My G3 has never been rooted btw got no intentions to do so.
I have an unlocked One M8,EMEA variant running stock sense 6.Yesterday,i got the lollipop OTA and did install it today. Now, I heard a lot of people complaining about performance issues and overall lesser stability on lollipop compared to kitkat, on reddit and a few other sites
Factory reset recommended after the update, especially considering the change of runtime to ART and all those system level changes? Have any of you done it on any of your devices and Is it worth the hassle? Will the performance or battery life be any better?
Is it necessary to factory reset after lollipop ota? i have not been having issues and no battery drain. Yes there is a little bit stutter here and there but no app crashes, battery drain or my device getting hot.
I installed the lollipop update and now get constant "unfortunately, the system UI has failed. This happens for a variety of reasons and has rendered my phone pretty much useless for anything other than making a phone call. Most of the other accessories, apps and program either only have limited functionality or are unstable and shut down.
So, What is the best method/process to reset my phone to pre-5.0 and/or to reinstall 5.0
I am another dissatisfied user who just upgraded from 4.4 to lollipop. I am having problems with the autowiz prompt coming up often like other users, how to back up this configuration before i do a factory reset. If I backup with kids, will I lose anything we. I recover the backup onto a fresh lollipop system?
Verizon Samsung S5 with Kit Kat and want to update to the latest Lollipop. The question is about restoring all the apps and data after a factory reset after the upgrade.
1. I have moved a lot of programs to the SD card- do I need to move them back to Device Memory? 2. If I sign in with my Google account after the Factory Reset after the OS upgrade, will all the apps automatically be restored/installed? 3. I have the Google backup set automatically and restore automatically- will the data and settings be restored as the apps are restored once I log into my Google account? 4. What about all my internet email accounts (Comcast, GMail, etc.)- will they automatically be restored for the messages that are on the S5 and automatically connected to the accounts or do I have to reset these up again? 5. The S5 is also my work email, which is an Exchange Server- will the Factory Reset mean that my IT dept. needs to reestablish the connection between the S5 and the Exchange Server or will that happen automatically (if emails are part of the automatic restore?) 6. I have Keis 3 installed on my computer- should I use this as a backup and restore instead of relying on the automatic Google backup and restore?
Anyways, I have managed to change my homescreen, widgets and subsequent screens so much that now I'm bored with it. I would like to reset all these screens back their original state.
My Sony Experia compact Z3 propose me to do the upgrade in Lollipops 5.1.1. I await because I wanted to shave my data before doing it. Without doing anything and without accepting the upgrade, my Sony has done the upgrade this morning. After the upgrade, my mobile is from scratch, I have lost everything...Is there a solution to get back my data ? And also is it normal that the mobile erase everything without authorization ?!
I upgraded to lolipop about a month back and my phone got factory reset ( lost all data from my phone , sdcard , sim ) and prompted for new set up installation. This happened while i was out , and my phone was in my pocket once and another time when i was in at work , lost all data both the times and i couldnot find any trace of what triggered the wipe off button on my phone.
Is it similar to another andriod device.Hold Home Key + End key for 20 seconds or until you see a "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1"Open the QWERTY keyboard and hit Alt+W.The Dream device.Got a Eve that has an email lock
After I received the update, my phone slowed considerably. It may have been a result of some other things, but point is, it slowed. To the point where I was waiting for a couple of minutes for a simple text to load.I cleared out my storage to see if that would fix the problem, but that didn't work. Someone suggested a factory reset, so after a lot of contemplating, I backed everything up onto my HTC Backup Account (Linked with Google Drive) and went for it.Normally, after a factory reset, the setup screen should ask you, "How do you want to set up your phone?" Or something along those lines, and one of those options should be to restore from a backup. The name of this screen should be "Set up your phone" at the top. After my reset, I was just taken to "Setup Wizard", which gave me no option to restore from a backup, but only let me put in a Google account and gave me the option of restoring my contacts.
ALL of my important data is on that backup, and I have nothing on my phone right now.I've tried connecting with my Google and HTC Accounts, but there is still no option to restore from those backups.I've tried, through the HTC Backup App, to restore, but the option to restore from backup is greyed out because "you have already completed backup or restore on this phone".I'm extremely frustrated and frantic to get my data back. Without that backup/restore I have to reinstall every single app by hand, reorganize everything I had, and even somehow get a couple of contacts back, since the Setup Wizard's contact restoring didn't seem to be up to date. Even in doing so I would still be missing a huge chunk of my phone. Is there anything I can do? Why is my phone showing me the Setup Wizard instead of the "Set up your phone" screen?I have the 32 GB HTC One with Verizon, and the phone was purchased September 2013.
I am currently rooted, but I have a habit of reformatting my phone every 1-2 months to keep things fresh. Factory reset under settings while rooted? It's just so much faster and simpler that way if we can.
I need to know the correct procedure to update the Sony Xperia Z2 from KitKat to Lollipop. These are the main questions:
1) Update via OTA or from PC Companion when the firmware is noticed? 2) When the hard reset (system repair) must be done? Before the update or after the update or both? 3) How perform CORRECTLY, STEP BY STEP, the hard reset after Lollipop update?
I and all Z2 users need this fondamental informations to prevent Lollipop bugs or malfunctions! We wait DETAILED answer from Sony!
I have a Blackberry Tour with the new 5.0 from VZW on it. I want to reset the phone to the factory out of the box settings. I can't figure out how to do it. I found the instructions for the 4.7 OS but the steps are not the same. I don't want to use BBSak or anything. There has to be a way just using the phone, right?
In my Blackberry curve 8520 general settings option is not available under security option in settings,Because of this i am not able to find factory restore
Did a factory reset yesterday to freshen up my M7, and now, i get only WiFi, but NO mobile data. It says - disconnected. I tried taking out the sim card. Restarting..
So about a week ago my phone dies and I put it on the charger... like 60 secs later I try and start it back up. I was also working on my laptop and used one hand to start the device. Once it booted back up it was factory reset. Asking me to set up my phone... I'll my pics and music were gone.
I may have been pressing the vol up or down while holding the power button because I was using one hand and I can see how easy that can happen but I doubt I went through all the steps to factory reset w/o knowing it.
