Is it similar to another andriod device.Hold Home Key + End key for 20 seconds or until you see a "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1"Open the QWERTY keyboard and hit Alt+W.The Dream device.Got a Eve that has an email lock
Anyways, I have managed to change my homescreen, widgets and subsequent screens so much that now I'm bored with it. I would like to reset all these screens back their original state.
I'm an early adopter of Android (coming from iOS) and this is my first android phone. I've been reading and some posts suggest that I should do a factory reset after the update.
I wanna hear your thoughts about this, is it necessary? Knowing that android doesn't have a good backup system unlike iOS, it's time consuming to move everything back where it was. Do the benefits outweigh the cons? My G3 has never been rooted btw got no intentions to do so.
I have an unlocked One M8,EMEA variant running stock sense 6.Yesterday,i got the lollipop OTA and did install it today. Now, I heard a lot of people complaining about performance issues and overall lesser stability on lollipop compared to kitkat, on reddit and a few other sites
Factory reset recommended after the update, especially considering the change of runtime to ART and all those system level changes? Have any of you done it on any of your devices and Is it worth the hassle? Will the performance or battery life be any better?
After I received the update, my phone slowed considerably. It may have been a result of some other things, but point is, it slowed. To the point where I was waiting for a couple of minutes for a simple text to load.I cleared out my storage to see if that would fix the problem, but that didn't work. Someone suggested a factory reset, so after a lot of contemplating, I backed everything up onto my HTC Backup Account (Linked with Google Drive) and went for it.Normally, after a factory reset, the setup screen should ask you, "How do you want to set up your phone?" Or something along those lines, and one of those options should be to restore from a backup. The name of this screen should be "Set up your phone" at the top. After my reset, I was just taken to "Setup Wizard", which gave me no option to restore from a backup, but only let me put in a Google account and gave me the option of restoring my contacts.
ALL of my important data is on that backup, and I have nothing on my phone right now.I've tried connecting with my Google and HTC Accounts, but there is still no option to restore from those backups.I've tried, through the HTC Backup App, to restore, but the option to restore from backup is greyed out because "you have already completed backup or restore on this phone".I'm extremely frustrated and frantic to get my data back. Without that backup/restore I have to reinstall every single app by hand, reorganize everything I had, and even somehow get a couple of contacts back, since the Setup Wizard's contact restoring didn't seem to be up to date. Even in doing so I would still be missing a huge chunk of my phone. Is there anything I can do? Why is my phone showing me the Setup Wizard instead of the "Set up your phone" screen?I have the 32 GB HTC One with Verizon, and the phone was purchased September 2013.
I am currently rooted, but I have a habit of reformatting my phone every 1-2 months to keep things fresh. Factory reset under settings while rooted? It's just so much faster and simpler that way if we can.
I have a Blackberry Tour with the new 5.0 from VZW on it. I want to reset the phone to the factory out of the box settings. I can't figure out how to do it. I found the instructions for the 4.7 OS but the steps are not the same. I don't want to use BBSak or anything. There has to be a way just using the phone, right?
In my Blackberry curve 8520 general settings option is not available under security option in settings,Because of this i am not able to find factory restore
Did a factory reset yesterday to freshen up my M7, and now, i get only WiFi, but NO mobile data. It says - disconnected. I tried taking out the sim card. Restarting..
So about a week ago my phone dies and I put it on the charger... like 60 secs later I try and start it back up. I was also working on my laptop and used one hand to start the device. Once it booted back up it was factory reset. Asking me to set up my phone... I'll my pics and music were gone.
I may have been pressing the vol up or down while holding the power button because I was using one hand and I can see how easy that can happen but I doubt I went through all the steps to factory reset w/o knowing it.
Since running the update to lollipop, videos I have loaded from my computer or downloaded are lagging. The audio plays at normal speed but the video.is about 5-7 seconds behind on every single video
I have run the repair from the computer through the Sony pc companion, reset to factory default and ran the manual restart by pressing down the yellow button next to the micro sim but still lags.
I have a Verizon HTC One, not rooted. The only update I did was yesterday installed Humin app for Contact Management. Today (while it was 85% charged) it got frozen while reading a message on Whatspp. I pressed Power button for a few seconds and it switched off. But now as I start it by holding the power button, it vibrates after 10 secs, shows HTC, and then shuts off after 5 seconds. If I keep holding, keeps going through this loop.
I pressed volume down button and then power button, and get to HBOOT screen with three Android icons. I can use the volume buttons to go up and down on options, but if I choose Recovery, or Factory Reset or even Show Barcode, and then press power button, this screen also gets frozen!!
I have a Z5 for about 2 weeks and it has been doing factory resets on its own about 5 times. The worst part is that it delete the content of my SD card also. I already done what was recommended on both links bellow and that didn't solve it:

I also have disabled the MyXperia functionalities and I use a two steps authentication for my Google account what makes almost impossible to have someone reseting it through any of these methods unless it is me.
Seems like my g3 is cursed. After a factory reset I don't get any push notifications from any app. Once i open the app it refreshes itself. But once i exit I get no notifications from facebook google gmail e mail anything. I talked to customer service both provider and lg I restarted the phone i disables and then re enabled push notifications from apps. Nothing works on wireless or mobile network
I purchased a brand new LG V10 on EBay. I received the phone today, the phone won't perform a factory reset. Every time I try to factory reset the phone, the phone reboot and I receive the following message:
There's been several folks recommending a factory reset after an OS upgrade. As an editorial comment, that shouldn't be required with a "mandatory" upgrade.
When you do a factory reset, doesn't it revert back to the version of Kit Kat that the phone came with? If so, you still have to upgrade to Lollipop. So what's the difference between the upgrade I just did and a factory reset followed by an upgrade anyway?
My boss has a GS5 and yesterday evening he was on his phone and all of a sudden it turned off. He didn't know what was going on but said it took an hour to boot back up. When it finally came back on it had done a factory reset and cleared his micro SD card. .
