I normally put my phone in it's case, in my bag or whatever in a spot I know it won't get banged up or such. However today, the one day I do not, it falls between the car door and my seat just as I am closing the door. I hear a crack, I open the door, and viola! There is my phone, bent, the LCD screen broke so I can't see out of most of it, however it still can make calls and the like. It's only a couple months old, so it's making me rather upset that it got wrecked so soon, versus my old phone that lasted me three years and never got a single ding. I know the touch pad still works, since when I go to click on things or drag items that I cannot see at the top of it, they drag down. So it's just the LCD screen [I believe, feel completely free to correct me if I'm wrong, on ANY of this. Please, do. There are pictures attached as well to this thread.]
It still makes calls, I can hear just fine, the battery isn't busted. The only thing wrong is the LCD screen... and the fact it's bent a bit... [I can live with the bent part if I can just get the screen fixed!] any ideas on what I should do? Should I try to fix it myself, should I go see someone about it, or should I just replace the phone entirely?
First off when I take my phone out of lock or wake up it from sleeping the icons are missing till i wipe my finger across the screen.. its weird to explain but its kinda like i have to swipe the whole screen for the icons to be visable the same thing happens when my phone goes to sleep and the keyboard is open.. any ideas?
and another thing is sometimes ill be writting a msg and my phone will make 3 beeping prompting type of noise any idea what this is?
Just bought IPhone 4 cheap figuring I'd fix it & make a quick buck. The screen is black. I've replaced screen but still same problem. The seller says he dropped it. Could it be water damage.
I can really blame this one on the dog. Walking to my desk, phone in hand, excited puppy races along and bounces into me, phone goes flying. Lands face down.Screen is white, and will sometimes flash grey lines when it seems the phone is trying to do something (like reboot). The music that was playing before the drop continued to play after. The touch screen does not seem to respond. The phone rings when people call me, and my alarm that I had set still went off. Itunes recognizes when my phone is plugged into my computer.
I've been doing research for a few hours trying to see if this is something I can fix - I opened it up to re-seat all the connections, and that didn't help (it didn't seem to make things worse either, at least). There are no visible cracks/breaks on the outside (I have not completely dismantled the inside to see from there).
Phone is a week past warranty, and I don't know that this would have been covered anyway. I'm prepared to fix it myself, as long as I have a good idea what I need to buy. Should I be looking at an LCD replacement? A digitizer replacement? Something else? I've read conflicting things on this. Thanks for any help that can be offered.
I can notice a streakiness, almost checkered texture on all midtone colours. I think this is distinct from the apparent 'dottiness' of the pentile display. It's very apparent when scrolling around photographs because the texture moves 'underneath'. I noticed it immediately in the grey setup screens when you turn on the phone for the first time. It resembles what it looks like when an LCD's backlight is uneven or poor quality. Which might be the case. It's faintly visible on the flat tiles and when viewing large areas of white.
Between this and the streakiness visible when viewing black text on white, it's pretty disappointing for a fairly new smartphone.
I bought my Xperia active last Monday. But last Sunday, I noticed that the screen flickers. I usually use the phone with the brightness setting set to the lowest and that makes the screen flickering more visible. And also I am kinda new in using Android phones and Sony Ericsson phones, so I am no expert in manipulating this device.
I recently bought BlackBerry Curve 8520, and today I noticed a dark spot on its screen it is only visible on white background, and the text reads just fine. The intensity of the spot changes it depends at which angle I am reading the text, etc. (well, this is rather obvious, I guess). I tried to reboot the device by removing the battery, it didn't help.
I recently bought a Nexus 5 and it has a dark patch on the screen. This is visible only when the phone is in a locked state. Initially i thought it was dust but the patch stayed on. I have attached the image...
I always noticed a very subtle shading about a half-inch wide around the screen of my Xoom. In the last few days, I've noticed that it's much more pronounced, particularly on a blue background. It's very distracting when watching videos. I've tried various players, formats, etc...but I even see it on the home screen if I have a blue background set. Is my screen defective?
N96 was working fine until two weeks ago, hasnt been dropped or damaged so i can only think its the update of software.i have reset it and still i have the same problem. If I slide open to answer calls or messages or use the menu's by opening it as if to use the media player (ie slide down) it works fine. I bought a Nokia 5530 in Xtra Vision recently and I've been having minor problems.. First of all i was sending a message and the screen randomly went black and red lines came across the screen for a few seconds then it went back to my message .. Then I was charging it Good Friday and took it out to make a call and the screen went white as if I was turning the phone on as nokia came across the screen please help why is it doing this?
my screen froze on my 1020. None of the "screen" buttons would work but the physical side buttons would. I rebooted a couple of times (depressing the power and volume down). It worked once but then froze up again. Taking out the sim and putting it back in seems to reboot the phone, which works, sometimes, but freezes up again as soon as the screen lock is activated.
Whenever im at the homescreen, and i tilt the phone to the left..it will start switching to another screen..when i do this in the browser/message or something the cursor will start moving which messes everything up..is there a problem with it or is this a setting?
I'm pulling my hair out every time I use this phone. I have heard you can adjust the touch screen to make it less sensitive, but I've got no idea how to do it!
When moving away the lock screen.. my apps and everything on the screen looks very out of color and blurry. But it will go back to normal in maybe 2 too 10 seconds. It's been happening frequently and was wondering if it has happened to anybody else and if there's a way to fix it.
I bought my white iphone 5s like 2 months ago! The problem is that 2 weeks ago from nowhere i got the white screen of death for 5 seconds and then it returned to usual home screen, i thought it was normal but it happened again like 1 hour ago! I did some research and found it was an ios 7 bug that Apple supposedly fixed with ios 7.1.1 update!
I'm a 1st time owner of a brand new 5800, this is my first experience with a touch screen phone and I was wondering since the screen is plastic and I absolutely hate scratches on my phones anywhere but especially on my screen, is there a way to put a screen protector on the screenof the phone and have the touch screen still work, will it be less sensitive or will it work at all?
My N95 has developed an annoying screen flickering problem. Every now and then the entire screen will flash white then come back. It seems to happen randomly and I can't think what would be causing it.
If there's anyone out there who can help, I'd be grateful. I'm having difficulty updating my nokia N97 software to the latest version; as the current one on my phone is version v20.0.019. My phone's screen keeps blacking out and to restore the front screen applications I have to keep switching it off then back on again. I've been to the nokia dealer with this issue but they sent me back home and suggested I keep trying the update. I've been trying this but the nokia software installer in my computer suggests it cannot find my mobile when connected through the usb cable (even though my pc detects the connection). I dont know what I'm doing wrong, can someone suggest something else and also what is the latest version I can get?
customer calls to get another phone. Customer says he was working 25 feet in airand dropped phone on ground. Screen did not crack. Customer had premium screen protectoron phone.
My screen keeps scrolling down automatically when a bright light hits the screen. Make it hard to use outside. Trying to make a phone call, read text, email, or even just scrolling through apps is very difficult because the screen scrolls down to the very bottom very quickly. When I scoll back up, it scrolls right back to the bottom. When I'm not outside or a bright glare is not on the screen it works great.
The camera app on my Z3 times out, and the camera app closes and returns me to the main screen, after 30 seconds. Sometimes that isn't long enough -- I'm waiting for a specific thing to happen that I want to photograph, like the start of a sporting event, and reopening the camera app is a pain.
I switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
I unplugged my phone from my computer (it was connected as a media device), and now I am have words scrolled along the right side of my screen and the edges of my phone blink red when I select something. What this issue is and how to fix it?
My Xperia Active is barely 3 weeks old, running Android version: 2.3.4 and latest build: 4.0.2.A.0.62. My screen brightness is kept at maximum, I have never dropped this phone or abused it and rest of it's functions are running fine. Barely a week in, it seemed to have a faintly flickering screen which I thought might have just been my eyes going. This week, the flickering has been replaced by what I would describe as "breathing" - screen brightness goes from max brightness (100%) to gradual dimness (about 78% brightness) to max brightness again - without me touching anything nor am I running out of power. This happens once in a while throught the day, not constantly. Rather alarming as I am getting very attached to this little phone.
I have been checking the SE forums since the 1st week of ownership, the flickering screen problem has been reported occuring to other SE phone models, including the Mini on which the Active has been based. I have wiped all data from my phone and gave it back to the seller for their tech to figure out. My last option if unrepairable, is to ask the seller to replace the unit. what causes the screen brightness to dim then brighten by itself (despite the latest build and software).
