I connected my phone up to my stereo via the headphone jack. And when I unplugged it, it didn't register this. Now it's stuck in headset mode with the little headphone icon in the top right. I can't answer any calls as it sends it through to the headphones and I can't bluetooth music to my car either.I have tried switching off and then on again, and tried connecting the headphones that came with it in the hope that when I unplugged them it would fix itself. On a separate issue I can't connect it to my pc so I can't back anything up, to do a hard re-set.
This is a repost of my frustrating journey, as reported on separate thread. I have also posted this info on the Crackberry forums here.I have been to just about EVERY thread on both this forum and others (Blackberry Support for instance). I have also spoken directly with my provider (Verizon Wireless) and with RIM Tech Support (more on that later). Almost all posts I have seen can be narrowed down to the following two theories:
1. The Hardware Problem Theory
In this scenario, something inside of the headset jack is triggered (a switch of some kind) when headphones are inserted. As a result of some defect or other, the switch is not being deactivated when the headphones are removed. Thus, the device still believes that the headset is connected and will default to "Headset Mode" for all calls, music playback, etc.Every proposed solution has been to insert something (Qtip, headset plug, compressed air, etc.) into the headset jack in an attempt to either dislodge or inactivate the switch that is making device think that a headset is still plugged in. Others have said to do a combination of wiggling the headset insert in and out/back and forth while on a call or pressing some button.
As of today, ALL of the above methods are inconsistent and unreliable. Unless it truly is a spec of dust or something STUCK inside the headset jack, wiggling it around will NOT fix the issue! I was able to temporarily fix my issue doing this, but it just came back when I tried to use the headphones again. How dare I use something that I'm SUPPOSED to be able to use
The ultimate test of this was to take the phone back into a store and get it swapped out (warranty replacement). After speaking with both my provider (Verizon Wireless) and then RIM tech support, I did this recently. Unbelievably, as soon as I restored my backed up settings via desktop and updated the software, the headset issue was also "restored" to its annoying and frustrating recurrance. After calling RIM support again, they concluded, as I already had, that THIS ISSUE IS NOT A HARDWARE PROBLEM.
2. The Software Problem Theory
In this scenario, either a recent update to the OS or some other unknown software issue (3rd party software or beta releases) is causing the malfunction.Proposed solutions have ranged from various sequences of settings changes to actual wiping and reinstalling software. Neither of the above have worked consistently either.I have heard from some people that downgrading software (to .75) has resolved the issue. However, this of course will return BB Storm users back to the stone age and all the original bugs and annoyances that the update was supposed to fix! So I am going to try this (the lesser of two evils I suppose). I will update this post after I see what happens.
FYI: The official word from RIM Tech Support is that the issue is undergoing research and is a known problem that is unresolved. Hopefully a fix will be released in the near future (crosses fingers).
So I went ahead and tried downgrading my OS to .75 to see if that would fix the problem. Obviously, downgrading is not fun, but thanks to BB Desktop and ability to back up settings, it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.WELL I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT IT WORKED! If you are unable to resolve this problem via the "wiggle method" then DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GETTING THE PHONE REPLACED. I repeat: Warranty replacement will not resolve this issue. Simply downgrade to OS 188.8.131.52 and you will no longer have this issue. RIM will release a fix in next upgrade or a hot fix if they are able to resolve this issue before then.
My mothers phone is stuck in headset mode. The caller and the recipient can only hear each other if its a call with the headset connected. However if you put it in "Loudespeaker" mode it will work right.I tried to do a master reset using the default password, 12345 or 00000 however I keep getting code error. I have also unplugged the battery for a while and still am having the issue that the phone is in headset mode.My mother never uses a headset, is it possible to completely disable headset mode so the phone would work properly?
My Lumia 900 is stuck in headset mode, even when I have pulled the headset out. I cannot hear/talk on the phone unless I go into speaker mode. I cannot hear any music or audio.. If I plug my headset back up I hear everything fine through the headset. I need to be able to use the phone without the headset!
Last night I tried to make a call and for some reason it was stuck in the headset mode. Weird thing is that I havent used a headset in months, except for regular headphones when listening to music. But I click the 'Handset' button and nothing happens and it seems like I can only make calls with a stupid headset. any ideas? thanks
My Storm appears to be permanently stuck in Headset mode for calls. Sending and receiving. Pressing the "Handset" button does absolutely nothing. Here's some other things I've tried;
-Plugging in and unplugging the headset -Reset -Reset + battery pull -Switching to handset mode from the music menu (this works) and then trying to place a call. -Same as above except placing the call while music is still playing from the earpiece. The phone simply switches back to headset mode for the duration of the call.
Also, why does there not seem to be any speakerphone button during calls? I'm assuming it has something to do with my non-functional handset button or it's just not available during headset mode. Anyways, I'm heading to my wireless store now to see if they can fix it. Hopefully someone has some insight to post by the time I get back.
My storms been great to me and I've praised it daily to friends and family enough that one of my partners at work just bought one. But today it some how got stuck in this headset mode. I can't hear anything and people can't hear me unless I plug a headphone jack. I know the simple answer, make a call and select handset, but that's not working. I've looked into master setting but can't find it in there either. I have not been a good blackberry user and my last backup was months ago so a rollback isn't practical either. I'm using OS 103 and have been living it since it came out up until this ast week.
Has anyone managed to get this to work. Use the standard Blackberry Headset (two earphone model) for the Pearl 8100 and get the phone to auto answer either after a few rings or straight away when a call comes in. Has anyone managed to have the phone set so that although it is on vibrate, if you have the headset connected, then you get a ringing noise in the headset? Finally has anyone managed to get any bluetooth headset to auto answer calls on the Pearl? I am using the Jawbone, but have also used a Motorola but had no joy with either. Seems very strange as this is a fairly basic feature on most mobile phones, and has been for a long, long time.
I got a call today morning and when I picked up I couldn't hear any voice. Repeated couple of times and Then noticed that a small headphone symbol was present in the screen indicating that the headphone is connected but it was actually not connected physically or through Bluetooth.I had to restart the phone to get rid of this and bring the phone back in action.
I followed the instruction on this forum for using Forklift. When I transfer a file the progress bar gets about half way and then the transfer fails. I cannot attempt to do a transfer again until I turn the phone off and then back on (and redoing the ##77 code and enable ftp).I was transferring an image someone here used as a background, just to see if the process works.I am using a 17" Macbook Pro.
Is there a way to store the voicemail password (PIN#) so I don't have to enter it every time I check my voicemail? The only way I can think of is to create a new contact called "Voicemail" and assign it to speed dial #2. Either way I have to open the slide to enter my voicemail password and # sign, or to use the #2 speed dial when I'm prompted to check for new messages.
I've had the c139 for about three years and an very happy with it. However, it's developed a problem I cannot seem to undo. On the home screen, there is a headset icon, and next to it on the right is a phone with a 1. I do not have a headset. Never used a headset. Never set up the phone for speed dialing. Very basic pay-as-you-go use: call - receive - textSince it started displaying these icons, I cannot hear anyone when they call in. The buttons no longer beep when I press them. I cannot hear to call out. However, the text works just fine. This is what I've done to try to fix it:Settings>other settings>headset>auto answer (no other option)>off
i recently updated my neo l to 4.1.b.0.626 and started getting this volume issue with headset. it is stuck at around 60%. increasing the volume using the settings menu briefly pops up a warning that says something similar to "high volume can damage ears" and vanishes before any action can be taken. using the volume rocker in application such as Internet causes the playback to stop. the volume itself is way too low to be practical even for someone with good hearing. no such issues without the headset. i am using the sony supplied headset. i have tried a factory reset and didn't work.
New member here, always been meaning to sign up and figured now would be a great time.Got my first blackberry, the tour on verizon, and it's had a few problems but nothing major. But now for some reason the phone won't go off headset mode, and I've never even used a headset. No matter how many times I plug headphones in and out, start playing a song on all the modes, or just plain switch it to hadset, it just goes right back to headset whenever I make a call.Needless to say, it ticks me off and I hope it's a problem that's a consequence of my incompetence, and not an actual problem with the phone
Look into default profiles, there is no such special profile for car kit or headset (Bluetooth) mode. For example, when I connect to Bluetooth headset, can I pre-configure the profile and it is automatically activated after headset connection?
I want to use my bluetooth headset as a microphone and my Nokia N95 as bluetooth receiver to hear my voice in the N95 speaker (not when I am calling). If possible I like to use a function like this in Off Line mode.Is it possible to hear headset sound in the phone speaker? Is there any software for this function?
(Posted incorrectly in the 9780 forum, so posting here)Blackberry 9700v184.108.40.2066 (Platform 220.127.116.11) FolksHave started having this very weird problem, make that problems.#1: I get a call.. i start the call.. phone keeps on switching between headset and handset mode. Cannot have a conversation at all. I have to use the headset.I tried manually selecting handset, speakerphone but nothing. I have to resort to using the headset, then it stays in headset mode.#2: I remove the headet pin, re-insert it. This somehow activates music. I have to always go in and stop it.I had this problem a few months ago and then a few days ago. Both the times i managed to make it go away. I believe I did the following:- Headset in- Power down- Remove battery- Power back up- Remove headsetMy guess is that sometime when you remove the headset, it does not understand it 'cleanly'. First time (few months ago) I was just listening to music via headset. 2nd time (few days ago) I had it connected via my AUX connection to the car stereo.
somehow whenever i make calls headset mode is activated. i dont have a headset! i hit the options button and changed it back to handset mode, but it keeps switching back whenever i make calls. i looked through the phone trying to find a master call options section or just any way to change it back but found nothing. anyone encountered this before?
New problem with .86. Yesterday i was watching a movie using the BlackBerry headphones, without issue. However, nbow the phone is stuck in headphone mode, even after I unplug the headphones. I have done multiple bat. pulls, but the headphone symbol remains when making a call and i can not hear anything. I have also tried plugging the headphones back in. I can hear the call, but once unplugged I can not.
