I have a Motorola RAZR international GSM version (XT910). It is an unlocked phone without any contract or carrier branding.
I seem to have issues whenever i try using my phone as a WiFi Hotspot. When the Hotspot is turned on the data connection drops. I have tried this while using the device as a hotspot for my iPad and/or my laptop. I'm able to browse normally when i'm directly browsing on the phone. But the moment i begin to use the phone as a WiFi Hotspot i see the data connection immediately getting terminated. Even the data toggle widget i have on my home screen gets toggled off automatically. It comes back up once the device i tether from stops trying to access the hotspot.
This is not a carrier limitation. I tried using the same SIM Card on 2 other unlocked phones (Xperia X10i and Galaxy S2) and they both tether just fine. I also contacted my carrier and had the network and APN settings reset while using the RAZR. That didn't seem to solve the issue either. I have tried every solution that i know of. I have even reset the phone to factory settings a couple of times. But nothing seems to work. There are no Smart Actions setup that conflict with the data connection. I'm totally clueless about what is causing this issue.
It is really frustrating to know that i am able to tether even on a two year old Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i that's running Android 2.3.3 but not on the brand new RAZR for which i had to pay around $700.

I personally have still got some serious wifi drop out on my iphone6 particularly when playing video, on all video apps and Internet sites, the upgrade has made no difference at all.

Then I pulled the battery out, no luck there. Finally a read that shutting the bluetooth off can fix the problem. Well, yes that does work. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 5 (USA Google Play Store version) and have had issues with WiFi dropping out for a while now. The WiFi on the phone often freezes. What I mean by freezing is webpage might stop loading half way through or a video might stop streaming and just freezes. To get the WiFi to work again I have to turn WiFi off and then back on again. I have reset the phone and have tried another nexus 5, and still have the same issue. All of the other devices that I have (several computers, tablets, iPhones, an s4, etc) work fine. I have 3 Fritz! box routers that all have the same SSID, password, etc. I am using Verizon Fios.

I can only use the wifi if i go to settings>connectivity>wlan. If i go straight to internet, it tries to connect to t-mobile internet. This also happens when trying to use applications such as bbc iplayer and the ovi store.
Is there a way of setting the wifi connection as the default connection? If not, is there a way of setting up my applications so they connect using wifi?

I went to go to connect to wifi and not a single network showed up so I typed in the wifi name and password and it said it couldn't locate it. I used the wifi connection in my house while I was in in my house. I have also tried restoring it but that didn't work. Is there any way to fix this or can I send it in to get it fixed?

Downloaded JB day of release. Since that day, have to reconnect iphone to my Wifi Network each time I pick the phone back up. Same thing seems to be happening with our un-jailbroken iPad yet our regular laptops have no issue. Just wondering if anyone else is having similar problems or am I victim to Comcast yet again?

Updated three phones, one ipod, and two ipads, after the 5.1.1 update I am unable to connect to my wifi. Keeps saying wrong password. I just bought my iPhone 4S for AT&T today, and as I came home I connected to my home Wi-Fi (I just had the iPhone 4 for Verzion a couple days ago and it was working fine in my house), I connected, and it worked, but my Wi-Fi randomly cuts off now. I have had my Iphone 5 for around 16 months and the internet connection; whether it be by WIFI or 3G has always worked perfectly; until now.I know it can't be my router at home, as I have the same problem if I'm at work and it also affects the 3G.
My phone will have full WIFI signal but will stop connecting to any websites or give me internet access. If I turn the phone OFF and then ON again, it fixes the problem for around 15mins or so, and then revert back to the same problem of not connecting.I have tried resetting the network settings and reset to factory settings, but neither do any good.
