IPhone :: 3GS Restore Freezing With No Error
Jun 27, 2010I'm trying to restore my 3GS so I can eventually sell it, but it's not wanting to.When I try to restore through iTunes, it freezes at "Restoring iPhone software", and the phone just shows the Apple logo with a progress bar that's stuck.
I rebooted my Macbook, reinstalled iTunes, did a hard reset on the phone, tried it from DFU mode, and I don't know what else to try.It had the unjailbroken 4.0GM installed on it if that makes any difference.

Jun 13, 2012My original problem was that every time I took a picture the camera app would close automatically and bring me to my homescreen and that when i tried to open my camera roll the same thing would happen. I had turned my phone on and off several times to no avail and finally got around to restoring it. It has restored and on itunes, it asks if i want to restore it to factory settings or from a previous backup, i chose from a previous back up and now my iphone shows a black screen with the apple logo and the little bar underneath signifying how much has been restored from my backup... no error messages are coming up but it has been frozen/stuck in the same spot for 20 mins.I dont know if I'm just being impatient or if it is freezing up.I have tried to completely restart the restore but it just continues to freeze up in the exact same spot.I havent tried to restore it to factory settings as i would like to keep my contacts and photos if at all possible...

Aug 20, 2014Two days ago my phone kept disconnecting from my home wifi, leaving me to use 4G without noticing most of the time. It caught my attention the next day and I tried everything the Apple troubleshoot page says for this issue and was left unable to connect to my wifi, period. I had no choice but to restore my phone.Â
Restoring it from backup didn't fix the issue, so I restored again as a new phone. Not only can I not get to my wifi tab, the Settings app in particular keeps freezing as well as others. I am unable to click anything, not even to go to the home screen or shut it off from the top until one minute passes and it turns off on its own. Then sometimes I can't turn it back on, and I have to reboot it because the whole screen is black.Â
Is there any reason my phone is suddenly freezing so much after a complete restore? Is there anything I can do about my wifi? I thought anything that was causing the defects would be wiped but now I have more problems than I started with. Â

May 23, 2012I switched iphones today with a friend of mine. I made sure that I had backed up everything to my computer AND iCloud before doing the trade. Did it, everything set up fine. Restored through iTunes and then turned on. I still had my email, texts, call logs, contacts and notes. But all my apps and songs are gone. How do i get them back?

The only thing I don't want to lose are my SMS.I also don't want to jailbreak my iPhone.
What are the solution to backup only my SMS (so not regular iTunes backup) and then restore that only to my freshly installed iOS4?

When I get my new iP4 I want to restore from that iPod Touch backup because it has many apps I use for studying including the settings which I definitely need. Is there a way to restore just the apps? How would/could I restore at least the one app with data that I really need?

May 3, 2012I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.

I finally got it into restore mode (display: cable& itunes) connected it to itunes and tried to restore it. The process froze somewhere 3/4 to finish.Then ya know I googled around, downloaded pwnage tool, created a custom ipsw out of the iphone 3.0 ios 4 ipsw, selected it in itunes and tried to restore with that. Again it froze and the bar stopped just before completion.Does anyone know how to treat this one? update: I have also tried reinstalling itunes, etc, etc. Update-2: sorry typo. I meant that i have an iphone 3G not iphone 4 Update-3: FIXED. Booted Windows xp via bootcamp, installed itunes, restored using custom ipsw.

May 11, 2012For the last couple of months, my iphone freezes in any application, causing me to turn my phone off completely. It's happening more frequently, and is quite irritating when I need to call someone, and frozen in email, or whatever I've made all the available updates, etc. I've also taken very good care of my iphone, so shouldn't be a damage issue at all.

Aug 29, 2014phone app keeps freezing and the voicemails i receive cannot be listened to as the play button is greyed out. I have just started this in the last week for no obvious reason.Â
I turn it off and on and I am on the latest software. It is a real pain as I have work calls coming through to this phone and I can't hear the message without dialling into my voicemail manually a la 1990.Â
I have deleted all my old voicemails and deleted voicemail but no change.

Jul 1, 2010Where suddenly the screen just does not register any touch? I find this happens on the lock screen occasionally, when i try and slide to unlock, nothing happens, its like the screen is not detecting any actions. I usually end up having to hold both power/home buttons until the phone restarts because even the 'slide to power off' won't work.

Mar 20, 2012I have a iPhone 4 and it froze and when rebooted it stays at the Apple logo screen. I have tried to put the iPhone in DFU and all I can get it to do is go into recovery mode (Shows a picture of iTunes with USB etc..)When I press the Sleep and Home button, the iPhone just goes of for a second and then powers back up and again, stays at the Apple logo.
