IPhone :: IMessage : It's Linking To The Wrong Contacts?
Jun 28, 2012
My iMessage is playing up, it's linking to the wrong contacts, here is an example of what happens: I get a message from someone on imessage:Then when i go to reply, it goes to this screen: I have had a look in contact info, nothing seems to be linked. Likewise, when I go to: It goes too: When I try to send a imessage to sam reed, helenna gets it instead, likewise when composing a message to helenna's imessage it goes to sam reed when i send.
When I used the iPhone with new SIM card, it logged my "temporary number" as my phone number, iMessage phone number, and FaceTime phone number. When my real number was updated instead of the temporary number in the mobile carrier (calling someone showed them my real number), the iPhone still showed the temporary phone number in Phone Settings, iMessage and FaceTime.I corrected the phone number in the Phone Settings, and tried the instructions of previous answered-questions about this issue:
-> to turn off FaceTime and iMessage, then re-activate them, and wait for the phone-number-activation to fail (but for me, after several trials, I still did not have the option to moderate the phone number of iMessage).
I tried reseting the Network Settings. I tried removing the SIM card. I tried doing all of these things in different orders. I tried turning off-on-off-on-off-on-off the iMessage and FaceTime many times. I tried changing the phone number in my Apple ID web account.Nothing seems to work. I still cannot change the phone number in my iMessage settings.
I am getting the wrong date in my messages app but only with imessage texts with iphone users. It is coming up as 2043. The time is correct but the year is wrong.
For some reason all of a sudden my Facebook contacts are not in my contact list and there is no option to link... Facebook is in the list to show contacts but NOTHING!
I just recently got my xperia x10 and had to almost immediately upgrade to the 2.1 system. I am noticing a few things that I'm not fussy about from the 1.6 system but the thing that is bugging me the most is that I cannot (figure out how to) link contacts in my phonebook to their facebook and twitter accounts. In 1.6, when you edited a contact it gave you the option to click LINK. I cannot find any of this on the new system. As well, for contacts that I had linked before, their facebook profile pic (current from the time when i linked them before upgrading to 2.1) shows up on their contact information (i usually only link facebook, as i dont use twitter as much) and their profile is linked. However when i go into EDIT, it says FACEBOOK, Timescape and a big exclamation mark that has a message beside it saying : Timescape Plug-In Manager contact information is not editable on this device.
i SHOULD be able to edit and link all my contacts. that was the whole purpose of the xperia having this timescape program.
Say I have a contact that is a family member and they are on Facebook. How would I link that info with other info such as their phone number so that their profile pic from facebook comes up when I receive a call from them or even a text from them? I had the pics like that show up on my last Droid 2 (before I lost it and received a refurb replacement).
My wife and I just moved to the Droid 3 from the LG ENV touch. In setting up favorites on the D3 some favorites work fine and others actually link to a different entry than the identified "favorite" in the address book.Verizon said that they had one other reported this is happening on both phones.
Those that saw my thread about a problem with SMS messages will know I've done a full factory reset to my phone.
In Froyo, before the standard contacts facility was used, there was an ability to "link" duplicate contacts together to merge their details. Is that still possible in the Gingerbread world, and if so, how do you do it?
I just picked up a new V10, added my gmail account, and it created a contact for just about every email I've ever interacted with in the 10 years using gmail. I'm obviously missing something - I just want the 200+ contacts I have defined on contacts.google.com to sync on the phone after linking it to a gmail account. What am I missing? I don't remember this with previous Android phones.
I tried doing a factor reset, setting up as a new device, linked the gmail account, but it still decided to create 2000+ contacts.
All of a sudden the profile pics from Facebook are not linking through to my contacts and texts anymore. Been on phone to helpdesk and no luck. Tried allsorts.
I have a 3GS and I don't know if this matters but it is running iOS 5.1. A few months ago, I noticed that anytime I edited one of my contacts on my phone, they were sent to to top of my contact list completely out of order. This has also happened with my music library. When I buy a new song, it is put at the top of my library out of order.
I had 3GS and upgraded to 4S and gave my 3GS to my brother to use. Now my brother changed the phone name and deleted the contacts and as I was syncing on the cloud, his deletions started reflecting mine. Please let me know what do I do to get back all my contacts.
My wife and I both have iPhones (mine is a 4, hers a 4s). iMessage has worked flawlessly between us since she got her iPhone. However, after clearing all my conversations, any time I try to start a new one with her it is sent as text message. In fact, when starting the new conversation and choosing a contact, it lists her twice. Once with her mobile number (not showing the iMessage icon) and again with her email address (showing the icon). Buddy of mine on ATT, with iPhone 4? iMessage works perfectly. He shows up once with mobile number and iMessage icon. Doesnt show iMessage icon and goes as text.
My boss Frank has an HTC One M9. We had a colleague Brian whos number was saved on Franks phone. Brian has now left the company and the phone was given to his replacement Paul.
Frank has change the contact in his phone from Brian to Paul. When Paul calls Frank it still shows as Brian. I have check on the phone and can't find any trace of Brian. We use IBM Notes for email/contact which is synced to Franks phone and there is no longer any contact in IBM Notes relating to Frank.
I cannot seem to find a way to remove the default synchronizing email address that has been saved onto my BlackBerry 9700.It shows a email address that I have deleted from my BlackBerry. There are no options to put my current email address as the synchronizing email.
I'm using a Blackberry Torch 9800 with 2 main email addresses (both gmails) being sync to it wirelessly. I created a contact from my phone (in gmail account 1) and keyed in the fields of the contacts including the birthdays. However, when I checked my calendars, the birthday entries were created under my gmail account 2 rather than my gmail account 1 which is supposed to be the case. I would like to keep my entries on gmail account 1 private as I use the other account for work purposes which is shared to a group of people.
It is showing wrong numbers when I search for contact name in the contacts. It shows the wrong number but under the name I am searching for. 3-4 times I called wrong person because my bold showed and dialed a different number for the name I am searching for. I don't know how to solve this. When I type the name of the contact I'm looking for my Bold 9000 displays the list of contacts as usual but the phone number of the contact is wrong. I have to scroll to another name on the list then scroll back to the name I was looking for in order to get the phone to display the correct phone number. I have been using this phone for quite some time and had always worked fine. This problem began yesterday. I do not sync the phone (never have, probably never will). I have not made any changes or added any software. The only thing I have done recently is added more contacts.I have also noticed that it is slower than usual when searching for names and it takes a long time for it to recognize that I have typed more charcters in the contact name before updating the list of results.
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 when it was released. My friend updated his iPhone 4S delayed, yesterday. Before yesterday iMessage worked well between our iPhones. But since my friend updated to iOS 5.1 as well, iMessage does not work anymore between our two iPhones.iMessage works well with all other adresses we both use as well. But only our two iPhones cannot use iMessage anymore.
i have noticed that after switching to ios 5.1 my phone has been acting funny. for example: when i am messaging other iphone users with iMessage, it keeps switching from iMessage to regular text every 2 or 3 messages. at first i thought it was the other person since i am normally within my works wifi network and at my home wifi network, but it seems that this problem only occurs to other people when imessaging with me and not with anyone else. and this problem occurs to me while imessaging everyone, so i have come to the conclusion that the problem must be my phone. i have noticed this problem to occur since updating to ios 5.1. has anyone else experienced this problem? what can i do? i am 2 steps shy of reinstalling my phone.
Somewhat confused as to why my Curve is now not allowing me to link any email accounts to the phone via the Setup function. I am on a plan that allows this with O2 and I have confirmed this with their support team.
Essentially, if I go onto the Menu then Setup and Email Settings I'm presented with a screen titled "BlackBerry Internet Service" and "Existing Users".
I have tried my BIS username and password, individual account username and passwords but neither work. Strangely if I put an email account address in and click on 'Ok' I get an error saying the entire field is empty.. which it isn't.
i lost my 9300 and im trying to locate but cant since there isnt sufficient wireless coverage, most probably because it has been switched off, so it was suggested that i can locate it if my account is linked to someone else or rather sharing a blackberry id account?
